Said to myself that I wouldn't attend another DVD launch event because of the 60 second time limit for taking photos. Have always wanted to photo Maya however and went along last Saturday. I'm surprised that there are even Idol DVD launch events where you aren't allowed to take photos @.@
Getting good shots while sharing her with everybody who sat on my row with a 60 second time limit is tough. Very unlike a proper photo session where you take as many shots as you want.

Maya Koizumi has been around doing the idol thing for a few years now and is slowly but surely becoming more popular. The event hall was packed with just over 100 otaku (a good turn out). The event was for the release of her 3rd DVD.
After you have finished wiping your nose of blood, you can get your booty along to Hectors site to see his photos of Maya. I've also put one of these images in the wallpaper pool.

Zer0,
Getting a mokkori will hinder taking photos. Mokkori would mean blurry photos and annoyed readers ^^;

You did manage to get a few photos of her facing you. Did you have to call out for her or was she considerate enough to look at every camera within the 60 seconds?

Oh boy! She is so cute. Thanks for going Danny. When you can, you should to go to a "proper photo session" for Maya Koizumi.

Great photos Danny, you caught her eye twice. Your doing well for rapid fire photography. One is so busy taking photos at one of these event, you don't have time to realize there is a girl in a bikini a few meters from you. Ok that's an exaggeration but you know what I'm trying to say. I wish I could adapt so quickly.

On a some what unrelated idea. Have you ever thought of having shirts made for dannychoo.com? To give a quasi-organization and promotional appearance when you go to events. Along the lines of, this person or persons are providing coverage for dannychoo.com.

Edward,
T-shirts are on the roadmap for this year.

Ricky,
Calling out does help her remind that you are there or she ends up looking at the person right in front of her. She does her best look at everybody tough.

oohh nice camera you must have! Is it one of those nice DSLRs? I'm only asking because those are pretty good quality shoots, but the sheer number of them taking in 60 seconds! That must be one helluva nice camera! Mine's standard no SLR and it's got good shutter time, but at most I'd probably take maybe 60-70% of the shots you took in that period of time! nicely done :D!

P.S nice shoots, she's really pretty ^_^!

and not to mention, that's also including the fact that I take off the previews after every shot! And it's not even in RAWs either, just imagine the time it takes to process each RAW formated photo *shudders*, but for the quality I get for a $400 CDN, I wont complain!

@Tiny Red Man: You have sharp eyes dude no wonder you get nose bleeds LOLs

Nice job with the photos Danny shooting under the time limit.

Do IDOLs just stick to doing DVDs/photobooks of themselves or do they go on to do modelling jobs or become actresses in their careers?

Sometimes I wonder if the IDOL is comfortable with all these otaku taking pictures of her... must be a tough job do they have security there?

She is very bountiful indeed ^^; Seems like the EF-S 60mm f/2.8 USM really helps. By the way, is there sufficient lighting at these events? Or did you have to do some post-processing afterwards?

Windbell,
The lighting is low. I set my white balance to bulb.
No processing afterwards - just resize, rotate and watermark (which is done by a batch php script)

Angelo,
I actually took 77 photos ^^; Camera was set to machine gun mode. ISO was set to about 800.

Seth,
Usually on the weekends.

Akiraman,
The most popular ones become actresses, TV presenters etc. But then they ditch the bikini modeling (usually).

RedHotFunk,

Nice pics. She looks too young for my tastes though. Love the pic preview of Miri Hanai though - she is really, really nice! Dai oppai - sugoi! (really bad japanese) Cant wait for that shoot - ive already looted the contents in the root of that link :-D

Question - do gaijin get funny looks at these shoots? They always seem to be full of hardcore, 100% japanese otaku.

Keep up the good work, sir.

Great pictures! She's cute indeed, would love to try going to one next time I'm in Akiba (probly next year). It's something unique and you can only find it in Japan ;p.

I guess there is a limit to the number of people who can get in. So it's first come first serve when you buy the dvd to get that random number for your seat. Were there many people? But I guess the queue depends on the popularity of the idol.

ISO 800? No wonder the colour lacks vibrancy. Nonetheless good enough to show Maya's "full glory". How many FPS was the shots? I mean that machine gun mode.

@3den: Rest assured, my friend. Those are definitely real. And it's not about what they eat, it's all about the genes. On the downside, in actuality, many Asian women (including the Japanese) have no-so-XL cup sizes. But hey, does size really matters? And by size, I mean the size of the "eyes".

@lostandfound: Good point. I wonder what's Danny's wife got to say about this particular hobby of his. Well, I'm sure Danny knows how to (and not to) behave himself.
