It's official - the new Gundam series will be called "Gundam00"(Double Oh) and take the prime time 6PM slot on Saturdays on MBS/TBS starting this October (the same time slot previously taken by both Seed series and Blood).
Gunota has the lowdown on what its about and you can see a very short trailer for it added by member Alafista to the Otavids section.

While the video is short, I didnt see any Turn-A looking Gundams so I think we should be safe (sorry Turn-A fans ^^;)
This also means we need more money to save up for the up n coming kits I guess ^^;

I'm totally psyched for this because I pretty much love anything with the word "Gundam" in it. The mech designs look neat and the character designs look good as well (though I'm a bit disturbed by the lack of hot girl in the trailer). Good or bad, the least this new Gundam series will do is draw away from the stupid SEED Destiny arguements that are STILL taking place almost 3 years after the series ended. Whether you liked it or hated it, that's fine. Just get over it already and move on.

I just pray that it won't be as sappy and childish like the Gundam Seed/Destiny arcs with prepubescent children fighting amongst each other in "re-hashed" fashion amongst pink explosions. Its somewhat awful to see Bandai cater more and more to the occasional bandwagon-hopping anime viewer than the niche audience who once reveled the fact that the word Gundam meant something more than a cheap marketing ploy. Although its too early to dump on Gundam00, it is something to consider if you've watched the earlier series. The lack of originality from the new directors gives me new reason to feel sick whenever I hear someone say "(Insert Seed/Destiny suit here) would own (Insert UC/AC mobile suit here)". The reason for that is simple, its because the newer suits are compilations of past suits. For instance, Destiny Gundam is basically a beefier version of God Gundam melded with a V2 Gundam. Whereas Impulse Gundam is a blatant copy of Victory Gundam. The lack or creativity doesn't end there either due to Bandai's nature to release various versions of one single suit. If I recall correctly the Strike Gundam was released at least 10 times (excluding Strike Rouge and its variations).

However, knowing Bandai, there will be many more Gundam series, as long as there are eager sheep following it.

Not even dannychoo.com is free from pessimistic nay-sayers like nickC (sorry, truth hurts). Honestly anything gundam is designed as a marketing ploy, gunpla anyone? ;). Anyhow, theres not enough info about this new gundam series. Looks newish but I want to see a longer preview, but still I'll watch. Hopefully it will Not suffer from repeated stock footage that spoiled seed/destiny.

I'm not a naysayer. To reiterate what I said, I am praying that the new series doesn't follow in it's predecessor's footsteps with sidestepping themes, and dubious fanservice (Archangel firefights = jiggling glands). I watched Gundam Seed and Destiny even though I didn't enjoy them (and there are those who probably enjoyed the series dearly). I just find subtle hints from Bandai with its lack of quality towards the newer story arcs and products ("clone kits") that come out.

Yep nickC, all new gundam & "clone kits" are rehashes of the rx-78 gundam ;). To be honest if I didnt like a series I wouldnt watch it & I wouldnt waste my time complaining about it. Lets move on like cyber said shall we?

I'm still unsure about watching a Gundam series that isn't based in the UC timeline. Perhaps it's just me, but I don't find Gundam series that doesn't have influences from the original series (events, timeline, returning characters, etc) enjoyable.

Mmm, gundam series cant die out so they rip off the UC to created the cosmic era. Enough with the hijick, red mobile suit masked characters. We need some normal people away from the amuro, heero, and kira superfreaks. Jk, seriously though, the creaters have to invent something new.

With a new Gundam series comes the chance of something new and exciting. Well if nothing more there is always controversy.

Some points to full the fire.

-Don't forget Bandai anime serves one major purpose and that is to sell toys, models and games. The target is usually the young anime crowd.

-Gundam is like all anime, sex sex sex and more sex. Anyone here still have their poster of Quess in nothing more than stockings?

-Being an UC fan from the old school, I always want to see story from that universe. For those of us in the U.S., done forget that UC failed like a concrete life vest. OUCH! T_T There was a time in Japan it was doing the same. OUCH OUCH! T_T

-Don't forget the protagonist of Gundam series has almost always centered around a young coming of age experience. Amuro was 14 at the start of Mobile Suit Gundam. If Bright Noa hadn't been around to give that brat a good slap, he would have been a dead Amuro.

No I'm not attacking NickC. Way to go Nick, always say what you think. I'm always excited about a new Gundam series. Remember when the day comes that Gundam can not be molded into something or sell products is the day it's dead. Now if that doesn't scare a big steaming pile out of you...

I'm looking forward to Gundam00 regardless of how it turns out, that is because I love to give everything "their time in court" regardless of any preexisting generalizations. What I should have cleared up was notion of "clone suits". They are the models of a Mobile Suit with Versions N as N goes to some integer up to and including 5-10.

Even the RX-78's various models (There are at least six RX-78-1/2 MGs) is guilty of this and was a blatant reminder of Bandai's lax approach to Danny's Quality over Quantity maxim.

@NickC, Hear what you are saying and agree with you. Often I think the "clone suits" is an attempt to drag us existing Gundam fans along with the new experiments.

I've always thought Bandai's approach is quantity first. It's why I often say don't forget why Bandai is in anime. I feel if there wasn't a large base of us existing Gundam model builders we wouldn't see any attempt at quality. I also don't think we would see MG or PG kits.

I'm looking forward to this, but I have my doubts, the mecha design looks... too colourful, I want a new gritty war tale, not another SEED-like drama =/

Wait and see I guess, could be awesome :3

I guess it was too much to wish for when I had hoped that there would be no bashing of any series in this topic. Oh well, I guess that's just how it will always be.

I wonder if they'll ever be a time when we don't focus on all the negatives in Gundam, and just talk about positives. All this "I hate so and so" and "so and so is freakin emo", and "so and so was too dramatic for me" is really getting on my last nerve. It seems that all anyone wants to do, when regarding Gundam nowadays, is point out negatives, whether it be newer series or older series. Sure, everyone has a different opinion, but I just wish Gundam discussions didn't always boil down to fans of different things arguing like grade school kids.

I actually took a bit of offense at the comment about Gundam fans being "eager sheep" that Bandai can just take advantage of. Just because we like something "not up to your standards" we're reduced to livestock? Gimme a break.

Also it's just my opinion, but I don't consider things having general similarities "blatant copies" (i.e. CE things having similar features to previous Gundam designs). From the examples Nick C gave, I could probably point enough things that make the CE versions totally different from whatever other Gundam design he claims they're copied from. Previous work has ALWAYS been used as inspiration in newer things. It doesn't just happen in Gundam.

Anyways, I didn't want to rant like this, but I just couldn't help myself. Agree with me or not, that's just how I feel.

Wow! Thanks for the info Danny!
For me, I don't care bout timelines or such. Its all about quality. Even though it's not UC, if it's directed by Tomino-sensei and mecha designed by Katoki Hajime then it would be great...if only that would be true T_T.
By the way, I don't think the names sounds cool...they should change it to something a lot cooler.
What about you Danny?

Has any one else been trying to view the preview frame by frame? ^^; The Gundam we see the most of appears to have nice lines. Maybe something a little different than the previous Gundams, as NickC was commenting about.

Look...the fact of the matter is that a new Gundam series is coming soon and that's all that matters...(though I do wish they would release Gundam X in USA already). The whole fight between UC and FC, AW, AC, CC, and whatever is bull. Gundam has just been about the horrors of war on the youth...a growing up story with lots of bloodshed. Who can't love that? Every character...every mobile suit design (whether remade or not) is still what we love. The human body is overdone...we want giant mecha and lots of it. Nuff said...I'm out.

At first I don't like the design of the mechas but when I saw the figure of Gundam Exia, I can't wait to have it in HG and MG, because it's one of the best designed Gundams ever. I'm crossing my fingers on the story and hoping director Seiji Mizushima will handle this series well like he did in Fullmetal Alchemist.

after reading every ones post id have to write alot but ill make this short adn sweet instead :)

Altho many people have there own opinions on the previous season of gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny.
Destiny was pretty much an extention to it altho myfelf i did not enjoy it as much as i did with Gundam Seed it was still a good series and ended almost the same way as Gundam seed did there wasnt really any thing bad in it just a bit draged out we have allready seen what happens in the previous season.

going to the new Gundam 00 every thing that i have seen looks really well done iv seen the first episode so far. What i could tell the story line should be good its a bit different from the normal story line that gundam Seed and Gundam Seed Destiny had although i would of rather had the same characters in this one that we have seen in the past 2 searies would be better in my opinion since i loved gundam Seed.

Btw there are bound to be hot anime girls in the searies it was just the trailer it isnt ment to show u every thing its just a sneak peak into that series you will jsut have to wait and watch when they come out. which i hope is soon
