Continuing with the Tokyo Anime Fair 2007 coverage. Bringing you the Gundam stuff first for those having Gundam withdrawal symptoms ^^;

I guess the highlight of all that was on display was the GFF 0034 GP03S with the huuge weapon system. I dont think I will go for this one - I want the mobile suit but got no space for the whole thing. I suppose I could hang it from the ceiling like Strike but I would have too much hanging from my ceiling especially because I am planning to hang Yuukanalia from the ceiling too.
The last pic in the post is a comparison between a legitimate and fake Strike Gunpla - becareful what you buy out there...

I'm really obessing about the akatsuki 1/100, bandai did a impressive job engineering the kit cant wait for my order to arrive! I dont understand why bootlegers even try, theres just no way they could imitate gunpla. Anyhow fake gunpla is easy to spot i.e. poor quality, bad packaging, missing makers logo etc.

When i first heard the news about the GFF #0034, I was so excited. But somehow it didn't seemed to be as cool as the Deep Striker so i'm gonna pass on it.

Haha, I didn't know there were actually pirated gundam kits. Though it took me a while to notice that there's actually some difference on the boxes itself.

This GFF interim GP03 design just doesn't sit well with me, feels like something's missing...

I am excited about the HCM Pro Freedom, hope that (and knowing Bandai, it probably will) the Strike, Hi-Nu, and Ex-S are on the horizon for this product line...

Not quite sure yet if I will get this one. There are a few GFFs I haven't bought yet, so I will add it to the list and give it consideration. Then again, I'm in one of my "I want something new" modes. ^^; Good thing I'm not living in Japan right now.

Very cool pics danny. I will be sure to examine the box when I buy my gundams, especially the lower right hand corner where bandai is supposed to be

Danny, the second photo in this post no.5801. Those kits look like the HY2M series Gundams. Sorry can't read the tag in front of them. How do they look close up? Would you say they are worth buying?

Absoloutly love the thing, but I am going to have to pass (budget and space constraints). I have:

USS Constitution
USS New Yersey
Battleship Yamato
1/60 PG Wing Zero

left to go before I consider any more Gundam kits =p

Man the GFF 0034 GP03S looks sweet. Can barely see the Gundam behind the weapon systems. I just back in to doing gunpla myself an I'm working on a old U.N.T.Spacy RX-78 GP02A that I bought years ago and never got around to building, and I thought that it had a lot of parts. The 0034 would be like doing two kits in one.

Nice round of photos once again. Hmm... my constructive guess is that the right picture of the Sword Strike Gundam is the official Bandai's packaging. I have to admit, that was sneaky -_-

Btw.. Danny, i'll be traveling to Hongkong with my family this comming summer, just wonderin if you could give some advice -if you know any- where to shop for gundam goodies ^^ We will be staying at VP International Hotel, Kowloon.

Thanks,

Dan

The fake one is called GD, made from China. Here in Malaysia, i bump into one... they are made from cheap quality plastic, its easy to cut and bend. Its good for those who wan to custom their original Gundam bcos here gundam are a bit pricy...HGUC will range between RM50 to RM120 depends on the shop's pricing... while MG's will be from RM100 to RM300 max.. so this fake one will be a good I'll say "Support Modelling Goods" but check it first! some GD have super bad detailing while some are exceptionally good from that cheap price. Price range example for MG Strike Rouge, GD - RM65 while Bandai - RM126+, u decide.....

Oh my gawd! I could drool over on that awesome MG Zaku II ver2.0. I so must have it!!!! Call me crazy, stupid, odd etc. I'd choose zakus over SFs and Strike Noirs anytime any day. Bootleg copies of Gunpla will usally hv words like Model GD and the so-called brand would be "Bendi". So if you see a Bendi and not "Bandai", stay away from it.

GFF 0034 GP03S? Seems a bit too well equipped to me (bulky, maybe?).

Golden Akatsuki. This is one of my favorite models overall (just by looking at it) and it reminds me of the Saint Seiya Myth cloths (Gold Saint ones, obviously). ^-^

I have noticed a pattern in fake products such as this one.

(Needless to say brands often show to the public the copies with the worst quality, so the consumers can recognize them easily and get away from them like it was some bubonic plague-infected animal in decomposition phase -Sorry if you're eating while reading this-.)

The used ink is generally of cheap quality (you can see it is overcolored usually), logos can be missing or changed (this one is a blatant poor copy -the box as least-)...
Easy enough, eh? But some other fakes are much much harder to distinguish from the genuine ones... I would say made by "professionals".

Trust me, is so easy to get conned when you buy one with a box which is 99,99% identical to the original and the sharp visual exercise of knowing what is genuine or not is not as easy as the example shown here (I would dare to say it looks to me as a fake "fake". You're still following? Good!! Hahaha.).
The price should also tell you the difference.

Know your official Gundam retailer! ;)

I got the same problem as Kira here, that is why I can't be a Gundam fan... T_T

Too many different Gundam series, and if you miss as much as one episode in any one of them, you're definitely screwed.
I feel like it is the longest anime series so far. Much much longer than Dragonball/DB Z/ DB GT (Okay the last one doesn't count) ;)

Anyway I can fill the blanks in my lack of Gundam knowledge thanks to you Danny. Thanks! (lol?)
