The Tokyo Anime Fair 2007 is open to the public tomorrow and Sunday and costs 1,000 yen to get in. Went along yesterday on press/business day and came home to fall asleep in the afternoon exhausted from anime overload!
Going to split the report into the following sections...
  • Today: Tokyo Anime Fair 2007
  • Saturday: TAF2007 - Part2
  • Sunday: TAF2007 - Figures (yes they had loads)
  • Monday: TAF2007 - Gundam (gunpla at the Bandai booth)
The only reason I'm splitting today and tomorrows report is because there is tons of it - about 80 photos today, 80 tomorrow.
I've also added a load of related videos to the Otavids section - most of it being OPs for anime in this post.
This report is being brought to you by Akihabara News and dannychoo.com.

A quick look at the booty I brought back. If you are going, the first thing you should do is look for people handing out these huge bags so that you can nab stuff from each booth and fling it in.
1,000 yen for adults, 500 yen for little people.
Zero no Tsukaima season 2! First time I've seen this image - I guess thats mama? Looks like shes got big eyes.
Seirei no Moribito by Production IG - added vid to the Otavid section.
Some mecha which look rather out of proportion.
Never got into Naruto or Bleach personally.
Play Gundam Musou at the Bandai booth. Looks so good in HD and makes my plasma look sad.
Confess that I have not watched Mai Hime at all.
Lots of Guren Ragan here and there - looks like a must watch. Cute Bishojo character and Mecha = must watch.
Look in the Otavids for the PV.
Akira fans may know about FREEDOM. Didnt like it myself though.
Seirei no Moribito - check the Otavids.
Dancouga Nova - check Otavids for OP.
More at the Dancouga booth.
Check the Sky Girls OP in the Otavids section.
Very Coolsome Karas statue (outfit?)
Karas - if you have not seen then you must - check otavids for more.
Filn - Akiba type SNS.
GACCHAMAN! I used to watch this when I was a wee lad back in the UK - was called G-FORCE.
OP in the otavids.
Promoting the current One Piece movie.
New Gegege no Kitaro TV series.
They was also promoting the live action movie too.
Most coolsome Skull Man outfit. New anime from BONES.
Live action Gegege no Kitaro.
Still need to watch Reideen.
Sisters of Wellber by production IG - trailer in Otavids.
Death Note *love*
Misa Misa *lurve*
Pink Blob.
Looks like a very most coolsome CG/Anime - OP in otavids.
Reko Nagase (I think) - check her cute video in the Otavids.
caca - they changed their logo to something unreadable. Clever.
Check this in the Otavids section.
Red blob.
Baccano - out this summer.
Looking forward to the transformer movie.

You have gotten a lot of stuff as well. :) Just wondering, how do you keep getting press pass? Do you dress up in stormtrooper aromor and point the blaster at them asking "I insist on getting one" ? XD (*Joking*)

Nice photos.
I really like Freedom Project but I think the animation is a little stiff sometimes, they should have used some mo-cap or something like that.

I had no idea that the fair was this weekend. Things like this creep up so quickly. Anyway, it's good that you're here as in that way (a lot of us) can live vicariously through you. Kudos on the site too, lots of information but not cluttered.

AAAHRG those press days!! Just went yesterday to take a look and didn't saw a huge waiting line, or perhaps the press woke up late?
But tomorrow is the big day for us regular folks. So Danny thanks for those previews. I know what to expect, except the queue maybe.

Cheers

@Rufus
Dude, you don't go suggesting other people what you feel regarding a certain anime if they haven't watched it yet. Let them watch the show since it all boils down to preference. For all we know, Danny might like those what you call "a waste of time".

A comment a bit disorganized this time:

1) I like this Karas suit!!
2) I would have chosen Shonen in the poll but since it's not in there...
3) The hero from Gegege no Kitaro truly resembles Manta from Shaman King. lol.
4) Pink Blob = cute (looks like a piggy), Red Blog = ugly.
5) Transformers movie's poster = looks great! I wonder what Gundam vs. Transformers would do.

I always wonder how anime and manga creators are able to invent completely new stories, character designs, personalities, costumes, artifacts and so on, with all the good ideas and great references over the years without plagiarizing...
On the other hand, I feel that videogames become less original over time but maybe it is me.

At Rufus Shinra: I admit Bleach was more or less crap during the Bounto Arc (of course that was a very so-so filler with no special qualities), but sincerely I am really fond of that series (watched all 119 episodes so far!) and more than ever now with the current arc (Arrancars and Vizards).

As for Naruto, I never could get into it... Too many episodes with useless fillers that kill the interest of watching it (This is what I heard from others, I don't know/care myself). The Shippuuden part may change it all. Dunno.

I also laugh at One Piece... 300+ episodes already! And I can't stand Monkey D. Luffy's face anyway (among other reasons), so I don't watch it.

Final note for now: Caca also means poo in French ;)

Was press day at big sight - but felt smaller in scale compared to last year.

Akhmad,
Didnt notice rei or asuka...

Wildarmsheero,
That would be Ibu no Jikan. Could not any info on it though.

Akiraman,
Thats Guren Ragan.
CaCa looks like they are doing something new - not sure what.
Tokikake is out on DVD next month in Japan I think.

I prefer mecha, and within the past year some loli. Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni scared the living crap out of me, however I have no infatuation with girls younger than my age, anime or in real life.

I have known and loved mecha since the age of 5. Nothing like some robots (especially giant ones) killing each other =).

yea you should watch mai-hime and mai-otome.This two are sorta like a similiar series with mai-otome being a parallel world or, the future of mai hime depends on how u would like to intepret it.The pic you took at the anime fair was that of mai otome BTW.Watch mai-hime first then mai-Z-hime which is mai-otome.
