That's what games are all about in these kinds of places: bet a token on your experience to win tickets (which in turn are used to get prizes). It's in America too: the thrill is there to "win" tickets to ultimatly get a prize. I don't believe it turns kids into problematic gamblers, because I used to play those games ALL the time and look where I am now ^^ not gambling at casinos or robbing any stores. Me personally I don't believe in luck, and I don't believe in winning off the misfortunes of others (IE Gambling Texas Hold 'Em). Playing slots though... your betting a machine, and ultimatly the casino company which can't lose ^^
I remember going to Sega Park (its now gone...) and pop in 10p or 20p into this glass thing with money :D I bet online once also, Don't like it one bit D: Now I only participate into competitions and other stuff that allows me to easily win something rather than nothing. Such as winning a copy of Phantasy Star Universe for PC :D
OMG! Even Keroro got gambling machine! Help! Are they trying to chip in more and more people in playing pacinko, a evil practice? God!
Heh - I love those coin steps machines! Even if I went to Vegas and was in the swankiest casinos, id still be on those Blackpool-esque coin step machines! You can actually SEE how close you are to winning - its agonising!
Heh, looks like something out of the series, what are the prizes anyhow? The first keroro movie was fun to watch but not much happened till near the end. Hopefully the second movie will be better.
hehe.. i personally do not like to gamble, maybe because i am not so lucky with it. i wonder when Manilans like me would get to see the anime Keroro...
Keroro Gunsou-Now Invading: Your Local Casino

singapore is currently in the dfevelopment of a Casino..(they call it "integrated resort(IR)..")who knows, the Garhment(or govt sa we call it) might import the Keroro into it and open a Children Section so that teh future of teh IR might prosper..Happy lunar new Year..everyone..lol
wow whats next? XD getting little kids to gamble its so wrong... oh well ahah, if its a gundam seed verson i would go for it!
gambling with frogs? now thats new...
I'm very lucky in natures of card games such as Poker (Texas Hold'em) but no money is ever involved =x

My GF does it from time to time, Im more of an ARCADE typa guy!! OH, BTW ... not sure ... if it was Chinese N/Y, then Happy New Year Danny and family .... =P Unfortunately, I didnt get any red thingies with $$$ in them .... =/
i like those "coin-step" arcades and sometimes people get too addicted to it buy hey aren't all arcade games are addicting...
i prefer to be in the computer
oh man.. theres stuff like that ehre in Sydney.. mostly Chinatown.. hahaha waste so much.. kids hoping to get more Tokens.. so they can play more arcade games , instead , they waste it all on the machine..
gamble? for fun between friends, yeah maybe. no money involved though...
a little bit when just playing cards with friends, small buy-ins so we won't get too mad when things get a little hostile.
nice gambling as soon as you are born, now this is fun. I have not gabled since here not all the states have gambling places or there are age restrictions. :-( however one day I will gamble, better not loose all of my money (-.-)
Aww they look cool! And if i was a kid i would definately be drawn to gambling just because of the happy looking machine :D I for one play card games at school for money, and so far i seem to win :D
Mmm, i never gambled with a machine before. I prob just pass by it since its not my style.
so wat can you win form the machine? losta keroro? lol
I expect lots of poor Japanese people in a bout 10 to 15 years. :P They all will gamble thanks to Keroro. Off topic: I hope I recieve my Keroro Gunsou movie 1 DVD tomorow. It's the Hong Kong version, but I'm not gonna listen to the Cantonese dub. It's probably terrible, like lots of cantonese dubs except Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z which were good IMO. It also has English subs and Japanese dub luckily, which is odd for a official Hong Kong Release. It's official because my brother ordered it at Yes Asia (Good for DVD/CD's, bad for toys such as Transformers and Gundam).
interesting machine Danny, do you know how it works? Do kids just slip the coins in and get a bunch of coins in return like those slot machines?
The photo looks like a miniaturized Las Vegas in the heart of Japan! Though, it'll be a sad day if they actually get addicted to gambling. Hopefully, the machine's appeal will only last for just awhile.
I could never justify playing those games because the rewards were always so subpar! Come on, the jackpot barely buys me a candybar :(
gambling= bad for everyone (except my grandma) keroro= i throw rocks at frogs when im mad
Curiously, gambling never interested me. I tend to think much more about the risks involved (losing hard-earned money slowly but surely) rather than the possible gains (I always find it amusing that people believe on the infinitely small probability of being millionaires at the slots. Humanity can be so envious and greedy/desperate sometimes. So sad). The interface seems nice, but the essence of addictive gambling is there, isn't it? This makes me wonder... Millions of people played Super Mario Bros. 2 and the "Extra Chance" slots at the end of each level to gain lives (including me of course). Hopefully not all of them became gamblers, right? But only if they temporarily associated fun, Mario and company, and slots and wouldn't get the "thrill" afterwards. For the others, well, their choice... of funding governments their way!
Oh and by the way, I still don't understand the fuss about pachinkos, even if there is an old post on it here. Sorry Danny, you haven't made my mind change about it ^-^
The only gambling I do is card games with friends and we only play for two dollars max.
Chi, Alafista, Subaruhess, you stick some coins in which may in turn push other coins down the steps. Scavenger, Is there anybody that orders toys from Yesasia?
Oh yeah, seen stuff like that before...! I didn't read it thorough. Here goes: It's all about physics. First of all, there are a lot of coins and tokens at the edge (boy, you do think it will easily fall when you see that!!) of the lower metallic plate. The newest inserted ones will slide vertically and fall on the upper one, the latter constantly moving back and forth on the lower plate. You always imagine that putting the next coin will make a chain reaction, in that coins on the upper plate fall and connect with the lower one (since it would be a push away) making coins and tokens fall and gain a LOT in return. Trust me, it is not evident at all, and the temptation to make a "Tilt" (shaking the whole machine) is simply irresistible. Needless to say it is completely forbidden and usually made clear on the notice. Quite a hypnotizing machine if you ask me... Very hard not to look at it in detail and to look elsewhere. Even if I never tried that game, I'm sure you will lose a lot of dough before you can even gain something in return ;) Thanks for reading, hoping it was clear enough for an explanation!! *Phew!!*
I'm not a big fan of gambling cause luck is never and I mean NEVER on my side.

Keroro gambling ? wow looks fun to me, hmm how do u play?

We have those in Yorkshire, too. Except they're called "Pac-Man Ball". When I went to Scarborough way back in Summer 2004, they had about two or three Pac-Man Ball machines, which I played and won a considerable amount, which I promptly lost to the machine. I said to myself, "This is going to be big.". When I went back next summer, the bloody machines were everywhere. See http://www.wayoftherodent.com/columns/pac%20man%20ball.htm for a more eloquent description.
i don't really gamble that much but unless i see a machine that calls my attention. if that Keroro machine it'd be here i'd be gambling 4 sure
