Just rolled out the code for the next community feature - Otavids! You've guessed it - OTAku VIDeoS! Browse around on YouTube and submit cool stuff that you find. As with Otakurls, you need to be a member to submit stuff.
So what should you submit? Anything otaku related that you would like to share with others. You think the new OP for Code Geass stinks? Submit and chat about it! Found some odd Japanese commercial - share it! Found some yummy idol video - share it!

You can add a video manually here (you need to know what the ID is for the video on YouTube) or use the following bookmarklet - drag it to your bookmark toolbar. If you are using IE, you may have to right click on the link and add the link manually.

Drag this link: http://www.dannychoo.com/v4/addvid.php?language=eng&method=marklet&vid=';var p=location.href.match(/v=([^&]+)/);if(p!=null){u+=(p[1]);location.href=u;}" title="Add to Otavids!" onclick="window.alert('Drag this link to your bookmarks toolbar, or right-click it and choose Bookmark this link');return false;" >Add to Otavids! up to your Bookmarks Toolbar.

Once you have done that, you will have a link on your toolbar titled "Add to Otavids!" just like the image below.
Navigate to a video that you want to submit on YouTube and click on "Add to Otavids!"
If you are using the bookmarklet, the following form will appear with the thumbnail, title and description fields pre-populated as it is on YouTube - feel free to change or add to these values. And thats all there is to it. Go to the Otavids section to see the vids submitted so far.
Looking forward to seeing your coolsome crazy otaku videos!
Technical stuff: All this has been made possible thanks to the YouTube API which is dead simple to use. Once you have signed up for a dev ID, you can start using the API to make applications etc for your site too. This has to be the easiest API I've used so far.
Update: I know the top page is a bit of a mess but a revamp will be coming soon.

Hi Danny,

I think it would have been better to incorporate this as part of the otakurl. I think it adds a bit of clutter to your site that already has a lot information.

Gone and got back to being locked out again! Boy, am I totally unlucky or what? maybe it doesn't like long passwords? *_*

I really have no ideas to stop this from happening, Danny. Maybe I should just give up? -_-

That's a good addition to the site although I really like your official stormtrooper videos so how about a few more of those?

Hi Danny does this work with other video services like google video / Gamebrink.com videos? Or is it for Youtube specifically?

Anyway nice to see more community stuff here.

Also what type of code is the YouTube API if you dun mind me asking? How did u implement it to your site?

I am still a newbie to web tech stuff and am still learning on my own... just part of my interest...

This is a nice enhancement to your site. The otakusim in my life is just increasing. First there's Otakurls, then I get turned onto Akihabra@Deep, and now Otavids. I almost have an Otalife (Hey, I like that).

BTW, thanks for adding my site your links.

Wow, this place is becoming more of an Otaku paradise. :D

Not only can you view Otaku stuff, get links to Otaku sites, now you can see Otaku anime that can be submitted at anytime! Danny, you're the best!

All,
Thanks and I hope you enjoy it - more to come (lots more ^^)

Akiraman,
Works with YouTube only with no plans to support other formats.
Re the API, YouTube returns results in XML which you parse with your favorite code of choice.

Astroblue,
More to come ^^/

IdolFan,
Looking forward to seeing them ^^

Nice feature. Most J-blogs mainly rely on youtube links, so now you have top notch original content, as well as the intresting youtube video links!

How the heck do you find the video's ID though? I tried to enter stuff manually and it wont accept what i paste into it.

Andy,
The id is on the end of this url for example.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=kH8cS1AkqiI
the "kH8cS1AkqiI" is what you need to paste in.
The bookmarklet is much easier to use though - click on it when you are on a video at YouTube and a form will appear with fields pre-populated.
