I remember playing with loads of Lego when I was a wee lad but only wished they had coolsome sets like these Evangelion mechas (I presume these are mobile suits of some form) back then. Have not really watched all of Evangelion as the ones which I saw looked a bit gruesome which was not my cuppa tea.
These are not actually "Lego" but "Diablock" sets who make building blocks that resemble Lego. Didn't Lego patent this way back in 1932?

Cant find these products on the official site but they do have them at the evastore.
Each of these sets retail for about 10,000 yen.

Woo - first commenter again!

These rock - Lego is probably the best kids toy of all time, and seeing Lego Evas makes complete sense!
They look pretty huge too.
Id buy one.

I wonder if you can make other things with the blocks like the lego kits?

Is lego particularly big in Japan?

Lego, When I was a wee lil' lad I used to play with them too. Sadly, I have many interests now that most of them just dissappear here and there. Evangelion is one of my favourite series, can't wait for the 4 movies coming but a dissapointment for the live action...

They are well made but if they fall down they'll break so easily.

Lego, now that brings back fond memories... before videogames and anime appeared in my life.

Lego did own a patent for many decades. That is why it reigned supreme for a long long time...
But now there are many rivals, such as Mega Bloks (which is Canadian).
That is partly why the Lego group decided to diversify its activities.

It's great to see stuff like those Evangelion mechas, but they should be reserved to collectors.

cool! I wonder how big that diablock toy is. if those block people are the same size as the Lego versions, then that thing would be huge! ^^

Ah Lego blocks. I grew up playing these toys as a small lad ^___^

I remember seeing megablocks once and always though they are imitations of Lego! I've been kept in the dark haha. Now that I know they are real as well.

Ooh! /me wants!

I haven't see a lego block in my entire life, but I've played a lot with building blocks when I was a child.
In Argentina we call them "ladrillitos" (little bricks), and there were 2 manufacturers:
-Rasty: Very high quality and big blocks (2x4cm in average) but very expensive too.
-Mis Ladrillos: Normal quality and slighty smaller blocks, were more accesible.

Then when I was around 9, a 3rd option appeared: Tente, a brasilian equivalent to the Lego, in that you have tematic boxes, mainly arriving to my country the ones with ship kits.
I had a big ship (~13 inches long) that carried a rocket, and have hingues to put it on launch position.

Blocks rapidly loose popularity on the 1990's and today are very rare.

Wow, that's pretty cool-looking. Konck-off or not, I'd probably get one myself. Or at buy lots of legos pieces to recreate it (Highly doubt that it can be done that). Might as well add this on the to-buy-later list. Thx, nice find, DC.

Lego patents expired years ago.

It would be a terrible world to live in if patents and copyright lasted forever.

I don't think its being sold outside of Japan at the moment. Probably won't, but if you have a shop that import figures and other Otaku things then you maybe able to get one. Other than that, you may have to import one yourself.

Evangelion in my personnel opinion, is one of the best anime shows ever. It acctually has meaning to it. Not like most other anime shows where hot chicks do other hot men and robots shoot at each other trying to kill each other. Eva talks about life in general and how things could be and should be.
