Ginza Xmas

Seasons greetings! Hows your Christmas festivities going so far?
Christmas in Japan is just like any other day and I'm off to work in a bit. The folks over here dont really 'celebrate' Christmas but they do spend a wad of dosh during this season. For example, wherever you go in Tokyo you will see a ton of Christmas lighting all over the place - much more lighting than I used to see back in the UK around Oxford street and Regent Street. Christmas in Japan is also another excuse to buy things for ones self and others.

Spent a pleasant Christmas eve in Ginza walking around shopping and eating and just like Akihabara, the main road in Ginza is pedestrianized to allow people to walk in the roads without being harassed by cars and taxis.
In one of the pics, you will notice a screen of a mac set to dannychoo.com - what I find amusing is setting Safari on all the macs in the Apple store to dannychoo.com/index/jpn. What happens after a while is that you will see the lads all looking at the idol pages ^o^;

Uploaded the member login functionality. At the moment you can just customize your avatar and reserve your nick name but will add more features over time. One of the first things I will work on is your home page which will be at dannychoo.com/home/yourlogin/ - will be linked from wherever your nickname appears. Your home page will feature things like items from your RSS feed ( if you decide to register it ) which should help a bit in driving traffic to your site. Let me know if the UI is all wrong or if you spot any bugs. You can register somewhere here.

One more quickie - I know I keep saying this but give me just a bit longer for the wallpaper tool ^^;
Theres never a boring moment in Tokyo – eve...(more)

Arriving in Japan on Christmas Day last year, I was rather surprised that there wasn't that much of a Christmas feel to it. Such a shame though. Well I wish you a Merry Christmas Danny!

Still a few hours to go until Christmas day here in the U.S. You know us Americans, always Johnny come lately. ^o^ Merry Christmas everyone!

It's a quiet evening here. Not many relative come to visit since everyone is spread out across the globe. I'm spending the evening watching DVDs with my parents.

I've never adjusted to everyone going to work on Christmas Day in Japan. However, for me, Christmas in Japan feels more like Christmas than it does here. It's ok, people always look at me in a strange way when I say that. ^^; I just feel more Christmas spirit there; which is interesting since the Japanese don't really celebrate Christmas. All the Japanese do is go out with family and friends to shop, eat and enjoy the time of the year. Isn't that part of the Christmas spirit...

Err, enough philosophy from me. ^o^ Merry Christmas!

I see oldies using cameras and tripods! Nice :)

Lots of people over at Ginza area as usual. Photoshop them and add Christmas hats on the top of their heads! That would be a bit freaky though :/

とにかく, メリークリスマス Danny-san!

man! working on Christmas day. if I asked people here to come in on December 25, I'd probably get stabbed on the back with a pencil on my way out of the office. lol. well I guess as long as your with your family (...and a figure or gundam on your hand) at the end of the day. all would still be well. ^^

It's really quiet here in London on Christmas Day because there's no public transport for the bank holiday. But Oxford Street and other shopping areas will be crazy from the post-Xmas sales starting tomorrow.

Merry Christmas, Danny!
