Have always known about the existence of the G System kits but really need to hear what they are like from a person who has actually ordered from them.
I hear that they are a company in Hong Kong (?) making kits without Bandai/Sunrise permission. Having a rummage around Yahoo Auction Japan and 2Channel, I find that Bandai are apparently turning a blind eye to this situation.

The kits on G Systems site look fantastic though. One of the kits is going for 2,500 USD. Understandably, I want to know more about the company and the kits before I buy. Anybody own one of these kits or have had dealings with them?

G-Systems is a great company like Core-Works, Vicious Project etc.

The products that roll out aren't that bad as long as you
a) Pre-Order them.
b) Or can get the earliest casts of a certain model.

The problem with resin kits is that over time the casts deteriorate and that causes defects with the model parts (i.e. crooked seam lines, details not showing up) and that shows for a lot of the "newer" casts of the older models.

I wanted to get the 1/72 Zeta Ver. KA from G-Systems but I don't have the time to buy and build it. =|

Hi Danny, my experience with ordering a kit from g-system shop had been quite pleasant, thus warranting a positive recommendation, however what I didn't realise during the time was buying resin kits was a lot like buying a piece of art. although it looks really cool, it isn't somthing you'd be able to play and pose around a lot. and since I remember you mentioned once that you like your gundams posable. it might not be something you'd be happy owning in the end. ^^ btw the acquisition from g-system I mentioned earlier was a PG IWSP resin kit. I also wrote a very short review on it on my blog as well just if your interested. ^^

Hi, as far as I remember, the most largest scale of G-system below 1/35 is 1/48, this is very easy to match with any diorama, since we can find many aircrew and accessories in 1/48. Different from 1/60 from Bandai, the G-system is not only huge but massive too. The resin really does a great job in scaling either size or weigh of a gundam. I wish I could buy one now but the price just horribly high as compare to the Perfect Grade. :( If you can buy one, Danny, I wish I can see the process you build it. And I believe building resin model have certain skills differ from building plastic model. Good Luck!

When I first saw the bust of GP02A from G System, I knew I had to have it. Paid abt 150USD at the local hobby shop for it. Thought I was crazy payhing PG prices for just a bust. Turns out it a pretty fair deal. Its mostly resin with a few metal piston and bearing and lighting. Resin is alot more tempermental than stylene so its not really a beginner kit. But DAMN does it look good finished!! FYI... posabilty for their full scale kits are virtually nil.. being resin and all.. and from the hobby shop guy.. shipments are notoriously unpredictable..

If this is a new company that will branch out into Gundam assembly model kits, I won't mind supporting them. Gundam kits in Malaysia are disgustingly overpriced due to a greedy authorized distributor, and though we complain to Bandai, it doesn't look like they are doing anything about it. I have already boycotted all Gundam kits distributed by them. So bring it on, G-System! Oh by the way, they look awesomely cool!

Seen those kit at our local shop so called "Akihabara" of Singapore. Very impression for display. Can get it from this particular shop but sure its cost allot. The best to start of with for those who like Gundam head Display was to get the HG Hard Graph version of Ramba Ral Commando set. The Zaku head it pretty good for display and it is highly detailed. It is a good idea to mod it into Char's Zaku 2 version.

I own 7 kits and they are nice but very expensive especially when they are of the bigger scale. They are a pain in the ass to build compared to the bandai kits because they are not as pose-able. If they are built properly though, the G-System kits are really tough to beat in terms of detail.

Long time follower of your site, first time post.
I have bought 3 heads from G-system, and currently working on one of them. I have to say, in order to make them the way it's shown on their picture, you have to have some pretty good modeling skills and decent experience. The parts that you get are in reasonable condition (could be better). Compared with the normal Bandai model kits they are not as fine. Material is made of solid hard plastic, I'm not too sure about the different names for plastics, Resin maybe? They are quite heavy. You need to do a lot of drilling, sanding and some modifications to ensure that all the parts fit perfectly. That is why I say you have to have a fair amount of experience model making, especially in the resin (or hard plastic) field. Some power tools like hobby hand drills with exchangeable tips will definitely help a lot. They are on a larger scale like 1:35, you will go through lots and lots of paint. Wash parts and Mr. Surface before paint is a must. I think you should get one at least and give it a try to have first hand experience.

Sorry didn't read the other post when I post mine. Lots of people praise about the details, I have to agree, BUT in my opinion the details hugely rely on your painting skills. To me one have to have very very good painting skills to make it look very detailed. Also forget to mention that the stickers are not the easiest to put on. But the good think is they do give you 2 sets, so if you fail the first time you have a backup.

Yes Bandai also makes resin kits too. Its marketed under another subsidiary called B-Club. They make smaller scale kits (1/144), conversion kits and manipulators (hands) for most (if not all) of the MG/HG line of models.

The G-System kits are really nice. I got one from a local hobby store, and they are VERY detailed. Resin is so much easier to work with if you know what to do with them. There is no seamline to take out like plastics, and there are no stress mark because of the plastic injection process (you don't have to cut them out).

Some of the kits are not as expensive as others, and some are even just around the price of a PG plastic kit. The 1/72 Nu Gundam looks really cool, and they say it will stand up to about 40cm tall or something like that... very impressive.

There are 2 good resin model companies. G-System of HK or Core-Works of Korea. G-System in my opinion is better. The resin is higher quality, fit is better, and I like the design better than the Core-Works. There are other resin companies out there, and they mostly use G-System kits to do their recast. Stay away from that though.

Hi Danny, First time message long time reader of your website. I have 2 of the G-System resin kits. The 1/48 scale GP-01 Fb, and GP-02A. These kits are highly detailed. The only draw back is you need to know how and what you are doing to be able to build them. Cause it's not for a first timer. If you would like. I'll be more then happy to send you some Pic. of the (GP-01 Fb) that i have started on. Like your Website keep up the good work..!

Actually, I thought their older 1/48s(GP series) were really underdetailed for the size and price. Their large scale kits produced in the past 2-3 years have gotten MUCH more detailed. However, I think G-sys lacks the styling to compete with other workshops such as Core Works/Vicious Project and GMG. I was told the castings for G-sys are done in China, so the material and quality aren't the greatest. I'd know this by having purchased a LOT of G-sys kits in the past.
(ID #41632) Posted on 2007/01/02 01:23
G-systems their conversion kits look really good, but just as Core-Works is that their prices are for the most people here are to high. And that their all resin not just model kits just like Bandai does, maybe if they also did model kits and not resin I would consider to buy one.

momo & Danny- if I'm not wrong this G-systems shop is quite small, but as soon as you walk in there a BIG MASSIVE Ex S Gundam greeting you the size of a 10 yr old child (with a kind notice on the side saying "no photo's please")

I think this place is Hong Kong's Mong Kok district/area, and near a street call Yin Chong Street (Cantonese phonemic translation, seek google maps for citation if you want) and the area where the small shop is has a like dedicated few 100 or so model shops right? mostly selling Gunpla kits.

if it is the same place we're talking about then if I remember correctly from 2 years ago (since I've been back to Hong Kong as I am Chinese) that place sells a I.W.S.P kit for the PERFECT GRADE (yeah you heard me) Strike Gundam!

FYI... posabilty for their full scale kits are virtually nil.. being resin and all.. and from the hobby shop guy.. shipments are notoriously unpredictable..

cheers

Nikki in Makati, Metro Manila, Philippi...
They do look very sexy and handsome. But the price is killing me. It would be sinful to buy one. Kidding.
