Japan may be the land of cool figures, gundam, anime and the rising sun but its also the land of the rising tsunami.
On wednesday, over 161,000 people who live near the sea in Hokkaido were asked to evacuate their homes due to the threat of an imminent tsunami. Folks as far down Japan who live near Tokyo were given the "be alert" warning - you can see the yellow bits highlighted in the photo above.
Only a handful of the 161,000 people evacuated their homes to highland however which was surprising because these warnings appeared on all TV channels at the time. The warnings and evacuation order was lifted a few hours later.

A tsunami would suck right now as I still need to play around with the PS3 a bit more and I just got a ton of figures including Saber ^^;

We do have our fair share of earthquakes, typhoons and tsunami but without worrying about these too much, we also just go about our normal lives as worrying everyday would be pointless.

I have two quick BTWs...
There are now about a thousand of you reading the RSS feeds and I wanted let you know that I made some tweaks as some of you may have been wondering why everything has gone back to "unread state". The feed used to be 600k (!) but is now about 80k as you now have to come to the site to view the rest of the galleries.
If you have any requests for new feeds or changes to the current one, let me know.

Been getting a steady 10,000 unique users per day and am currently working on one of those web2.0 thingies that would allow me to share traffic with other site owners. Hope to get that to you sometime soon.
And while I'm at it I would like to say hello to the new readers who have joined recently and thanks to my current readers who continue to enjoy the shenanigans that goes on around here. Expect more crazy stuff for the rest of the year ^o^

I saw the breaking news on the BBC website as soon as it was announced. Big red globe, huge capital, bold letters - JAPAN ON TSUNAMI ALERT. I was really concerned, but as usual, it turned out to be fine in the end. Damn news - blowing things outta perspective.
Id hate to have constant worries of 'the big one' happening though. Isnt Tokyo meant to be well overdue for the next city-levelling quake?
Eeeek!

Bring it on Danny! ^o^ There is never a dull moment at your site. Admit it Danny, you want to take over the internet. ^o^ Truthfully, I excited about building my own site and trying to make it as successful as your site.

I have lived many places and have lived with the threat of most kind of bad weather. True you can't be like Chicken Little. Then again, there has been too much seismic activity over the last few years. I hope it's not an indicator of another Kobe size earthquake soon.

Yeah, I have heard a lot about this as of late. San Jose gets earthquakes once in a while. Manila's worse, though really, you have to watch out if you're not in a metropolis area as was the case in Leyte.
Just out of interest, did you feel the earthquake, Danny? the magnitude was 8.1 (which is pretty bloody big) but I didn't feel it and nobody I know did either.

Range fires and maybe tremors from an earthquake that will make California fall in the ocean are about the only things we have to worry about around here.

So there was no Tsunami! Great! Any ways just wanted to say thanks for the fun that you dish out on dannychoo.com, you should have like a drawing or some sort of contest and giveaway some cool figurine that some of us would never have another excuse to have one other than we won it on dannychoo.com. Just a thought!!

BeLe in Cebu,

Bakagundamzero,

Akiraman,
Never been through a tsunami drill in Tokyo but I guess they do have for folks living close to the water.

Doc,
