Some more video clips of the more civilized queues waiting for their PS3 + other bits n bobs.
And if you are wondering, I dont imbed YouTube or Google Video code because they dont seem to appear in RSS feeds - is there a way around this? Click on the screenshots to view.
BTW, the highest I've seen the PS3 being flogged for is now 10,000,000 yen on Yahoo Auction Japan (click to see for yourself) Huh? 85,044 USD?!
Above: PS3 queues outside Yodobashi Camera Shinjuku. Clips taken by ellcy90.
Above: I forgot whether this chap was a policeman or a security guard but he asked me to help escort some of the queue round the block which I gladly did ^^;
Above: This is the video that I uploaded the other day of the PS3 crowds. This is the only pose I can think of without the blaster - look like such a wally ^^;
Above: Was invited to the opening of Kanda-sans bar in Shibuya - then decided to run around Shibuya towards the station afterwards ^^;
Above: Ran into a nearby arcade to play one of those shooting games.
Above: I dont generally walk with my arms swinging outwards but the armor prevents you from pooing, peeing, eating, walking or sitting properly ToT. My left arm always hit my blaster if I dont walk like this ^^;
Above: Was interviewed by Fumi Yamazaki from Technorati a while ago where I generally talk about the armor and this site.Walked around Shibuya Center Gai and jumped into that famous Sushi place - so famous that I cant remember the name ^^;
The interview starts off in English and then switches to Japanese. Folks who dont speak the lingo will probably fall asleep after English ends.
Above: Interview part 2 - talking about life with armor in a Starbucks clone coffee shop. From this point on the interview is in Japanese.
Above: Interview part 3 - talking about dannychoo.com.
Above: Interview part 4 - general stuff.
Above: This is Kanda-sans version of the running around in Shibuya with higher resolution and no music.

Dammit! Tokyo's lovely lit up streets makes me wish i were there right now!
The guy on the first video and the people running after you on the 'running' one - were they trying to be a nuisance? Do you get much aggro? If you wore the stormtrooper costume in the UK you wouldnt last 10 minutes!
Who takes the videos/ photos when youre out trooping? Your wife?

As for the arcade question - i spent loads on Taiko no tatsujin and other cool rhythm games in Tokyo arcades, but alas, there is nothing of the sort in the UK.

that's outrageous, 85k for a $600 console? people need to come to their senses and get some therapy for their narcissistic issues.

Danny, love the clips and keep up the good work :)

Hi Danny! :) It's good that you're assisting people as a Stormtrooper. That's points for you and your armor; though you're already pretty popular.

Yep, if money's not in question, I'm a sucker for shooting games in the arcade, and DrumMania too! Dance Revolution makes me sweat alot in public, so I ditched it.

Holy crap that can't be for real. Who in the right mind would pay 2,147,483,648 Yen for a game system that could be purchased for MUCH less if they waited for a few more weeks.
Its so insane that no one would do that... that is unless they have very very deep pockets....

Cheers,

I seriously need to see the type of people who are buying that for that much money. And it's not like it's a rare bid, most of the PS3s are going for $10k+ US. I have seriously not met or heard of anyone who would shell out that kind of cash for a videogame console. Totally blows my mind.

Looks like you are having a lot of fun!

I have always wanted to do crazy stuff like that and to live life in an outgoing manor. In America, it doesn't work this way =p. Culture in Japan and Culture in America can well... be different.

Anywhoo I love life, and I love always coming back to see the next crazy thing you are doing. I love both countries (I love my country, USA) and your blog is the prime way I get information from Japan and how life for you and others is going. Keep up the great work, and I am looking forward to that Wii review!

On the topic of PLAYST. 3:
PlayStation 3 consoles advertised as used are appearing for sale in Japan shops as well as online auctions.

They are being sold for up to four times the retail price of the console, which went on sale in Japan last Saturday for about £270.

There are also reports that homeless people were paid to queue for the console on behalf of people now selling them on at a higher price!!
(ID #41260) Posted on 2007/01/02 01:11
I envy how you could just walk around the city in armour. ^^ I wonder though, how do you cope walking around in them during rush hour. It must be a real pain going into a subway train, or probably even drive a car in armour. ^^
