McDonalds Virus

Wherever in the world you go you bet you can find some McDonalds and Japan is no exception. We do get stuff that you probably don’t get where you are. Teriyaki Burgers, Fries with a sprinkle of Seaweed seasoning, the occasional prawn dumpling and how about a batch of viruses?

McDonalds recently had a “win an MP3 player” thingy like target="_blank">http://akiba-pc.watch.impress.co.jp/blog/archives/2006/08/mp3_1.html,like the ones you see here. The problem with these MP3 players was that when you attach them to your PC, Trojan horses, Worms and Spyware was also installed at the same time. You can see signs in McDonalds in their attempt to recall all units…

Would you like some viruses to go with your Burger and Fries sir?
How embarrassing!
Official McDonalds news release on this subject.
How to get rid of those Viruses by McDonalds.

BTW, the girl in the pic is Yuri Ebihara who is the image girl for McDonalds over here.
BTW2, because the Japanese generally pronounce “L” and “R” in a similar fashion, when you hear the tagline “I’m Lovin it” in commercials, it sounds like “I’m Rubbing it”… Remember folks, you don’t need to tell others when you are rubbing it. Keep it to yerself.
First time here?

YIKES! That is something I would not want on my PC. Actually can you sue for that? (Now that there are ways to remove them I would assume not). I was aware Japan had McDonalds (who doesn't?) but its interesting in the difference of menus =). Wonder if that makes a difference in what is healthy or not.

what I like about Mcdonalds is that they sometimes customize their menu in each country. I remember one country had Mc Pizza. ^^ The one in Hong Kong Has spicy McChicken, China has Chicken wings, America and Canada has yogurt and salad, malaysia chicken porridge, taiwan and philippines has rice burgers and in india they sell MEATLESS burgers. unfortunately I never stepped into a Mcdonald's when I was in Japan.. I just RUB japanese cuisine too much. lol
btw Danny, about the tagline. you can also say "I'm Robbing it" ^^

Yes Mc Donalds is known to cater to specifically to the people in their region. Beer can be purchased in the Mc Donalds in Germany, while mutton was served in India (now chicken). If you really think about it, McDonalds is basically all about making money (so like Bandai) they cater specific items to attract customers to maximize profit.

Gundam Otaku, they actually have the nutrition facts posted in every fast food business here in America as well. Its the law. But people here dont necessarily go to McDonalds because they want something healthy. They go to McDonalds because its fast and easy. Whats even wierder is that some people in the States actually like the taste of McDonalds oO

Korean McD variation ~ the bulgogi burger.

The (red hot !) spicy squid burger from Lotteria is a far more ... unique experience however O.o

Back home in NZ we had the 'Kiwi burger' but I don't know if they still do that. No, it didn't have kiwi in it ^^ ~ traditionally burgers in Aotearoa are served with egg and beetroot, so they decided to trade on that.

The last punt they took over there was providing sliced apples as an alternative to fries - countering the government move of prohibiting them from TV advertising aimed at children, due to fears that our society might end up chronically obese like with the yanks ...

Lol, you know how McDonalds usually do a series of toys, so you have to collect them all, wouldn't it be funyn if each MP3 player came with a different virus, and they are like "come again next week for the spyware to go with that trojan you got today" ^_^

But in all seriousness, thas a bad thing, hence why i stear clear of McDonalds ^_^

Well, most likely McDonalds should stick with those non-computer related item give aways, the idea of getting a trojan or virus actually drives people away.

Eitherway, items or no items, as long as the food is great, thats good enough.

That check is quite attractive if I do say so. Truly wouldn't mind if Mcdonalds around here used girls like that in the US ads. I also wouldn't mind giving her a good spanking while I ate one of those Teriyaki Burgers.

I'll try anything once... I'm talking about the burger.

Ah, yes, 'I'm rubbing it' (not right now, I'm referring to the ad). Reminds me of my first time in karaoke with a Japanese guy who insisted on singing 'Love Me Tender', with similar results.
By the way, I like the new icons. I've never looked so cute!

HAHAHHAHA this is hilarious, both the virus and "I’m rubbing it" hahahha I think this should be on engrish.com or something hahahha. I don't eat there because of their terrible food, but teriyaki burger does sound interesting. Maybe if I ever in Japan I’ll pay a visit to McDonalds and perhaps get mp3 payer with a virus.

I stopped eating McDonalds about 4 years ago. The only things I eat from there are Milkshakes and McFlurries. I don't touch anything else from there.
