I'm in this months Yahoo! Internet Guide with some of my colleges talking about some of our Windows Live services and am also due to present at Microsoft's Remix conference which is all about the next generation web. Will be talking about building gadgets for Live.com and Vista. Some former colleagues from Amazon will be going along to present other stuff too - you may be interested in attending to find out more about the internet scene in Japan and to meet/network with other folks in the industry.
But what some people dont know is that Im going to add a flavor of Otaku-ism to my presentation ^o^.

I dont see what the fuss is all about microsoft being the least favored. I mean there are other products out there for people to use and yet do nothing but complain about it. Example, MS Windows XP, who hasn't complained, yet there are others out there that work fine like Linux based OS. There are at least 5 OS I've used (currently using MS XP)!! Yahoo good to use but least favored compared to Google. Really i even use google as a spell check.

I mainly use Google and than MSN in terms of searchs, services, etc. I can't really put it into words, but those two seem to have things dialed in good enough for me. Yahoo just doesn't satisfy me enough. Though I understand they're Web-2.0-ifying their services, so we'll have to see.

Would I ever like to attend that conference. I'm really interested in what's happening with the internet in Japan. Here in the U.S. I really believe it's in a decline. I really want to make a move into the Internet field even though I don't have any education in that area, at the moment.
I using both Google and Yahoo now. No one is really better than the other. Although, I would have to say Yahoo sucks the most. What I get in return always feels old or lacking on the U.S. side. Most of the time I will use Yahoo Japan or Goo when I search in Nihongo. I feel I get better results but maybe that is one of my idiosyncrasies. Google I feel, is like Microsoft, both are too English-centric. Everyone in the world does not work in English and translate into another language. ^^; I know you understand that very well. ^_-
I have been without XP for a few months since my VAIO died, so I haven't been paying much attention to Windows Live lately. Even thought it was just getting started last I looked, I was intrigued. Is content on the Japan side still less than the U.S. side? I will have to check out Windows Live a little more. Hope all this jabber is useful.

Hmmm. I guess I'd say MS due to the endless holes we see in the desktop environment. though to be fair Yahoo is a non issue as I haven't dealt with them in anyway. Oh the plus side for MS the .NET framework was a lot of fun to work with. Still mad at the endless desktop and .dll issues i've dealt with over the years.

BTW love your site. Gundam news in english is a rarity and I am endlessly overjoyed to visit the site every day. Thanks!

If you go in your storm trooper outfit, I will bow down to your courageous act, but seriously don't do it. It must feel good to be mentioned in a magazine like that. Google rules.

Err need I say SMS? Or Windows update (which goes off to download two updates then does five more after that, then fifty, cos you dare not leave it on auto update or pay the price for being stupid while it goes off to crash your PC or fail in an update).

Oh and don't get me started on device manager, which has no real ability to tell you what hardware is in a machine so you can get the right drivers (if the machine isn't yours)....

Nothing personal to you Danny boy...mind you you were probably wanting feedbacl on Windows Dead

I only use Google and Firefox. IE is crap ! ^^
I use MS Win XP, but i'd like to buy a Mac (perhaps for christmas ?).
Microsoft is the leader for software and OS in the world and IMO things need to change ! It would be much better for us :) Exactly like Firefox : this browser is much better than IE, and now MS is trying to make a better browser for the next IE version.
If Firefox (for example) wasn't there, I don't think Microsoft would be trying to really improve IE and I would still be using this piece of sh*t :/

Danny, I seriously would reconsider showing up as a stormtropper...The 30th anniversary of Star Wars is coming up and the spies at the Lucas empire may slap you with a lawsuit (how does copyright infringement sound-I guess they can claim your outfit was used in a commercial way to enhance retention of the presentation...besides everyone wants a piece of MS) to boost publicity...Wait, that means you're really going to famous...Well then, it's now or never!
