Kamen Rider Kabuto

Lately I've been making sure I get my weekly dose of Boukenjya and Kamen Rider Kabuto every Sunday morning. For those who dont know, Kabuto is the sixteenth installment of the Kamen Rider series which is in its 35th year.
To describe this series in a sentence - its a super hero action series where a guy in a suit and a helmet that looks like some sort of insect who goes around on a bike beating bad guys up. OK, there is more to it than that and you can read a better description at Wikipedia.
The guy underneath the suit is human in normal form and when harassed by a bad dude, he whips out his Zecter (a small insect looking device) and exclaims "HENSHIN!" (変身！(へんしん！)) Which roughly means "Transform!" where he morphs into what you see in these pics.
He has an array of most coolsome weapons like the Cast Off system where heavy duty armor (not shown in these pics) bursts off Kabuto's body to mow down baddies within close vicinity. I find myself running around the house (and at work at times) yelling "CAST OFF!" or "ONE, TWO, THREE, RIDER KICK!" - thats what you hear when Kabuto is using his weapons - I think its just Kabuto being kind enough to let the bad guys know what they where hit with.

Now for the suit - I really want one! But me thinks that 260,000 yen is a bit too much no matter how accurate this suit is - this seller has other suits going at Yahoo Auction...

You realize that if you get the suit, you'd have to get the bike too. After all, you couldn't be Kamen Rider without the bike. Kamen Walker Kabuto just doesn't have the same ring to it. ;)

this shows appeared in north american markets too...saban tried to release it shortly after the success of the power rangers...i dont think it lasted as long tho...

Lol. Reminds me of Power Rangers. I use to be a fan of them until I grew out of it and they hadn't stopped with the series. But I will admit that's a cool looking costume. XD

Seems like recent Kamen Riders rely too much on their gadgets to execute offensive moves. I really miss the Kamen Rider Black/ RX in the 80's wherein the hero transforms into the fighting form without relying too much about the belt. Because the power is inside the hero and not the belt. Yes, the belt is a part of the Kamen Rider legend but don't put too much emphasis on it. It is really funny when watching the modern riders especially Faiz desperately punching numbers on the cellphone while dodging and the enemy is pummeling them. Or while the enemy is charging to them while the hero desperately punches the right keys in small buttons to transform. It looks so silly! Or how Faiz changes back to human form because the belt is knocked out from his waist. Maybe this was done to appease the marketing guys at Bandai but it destroys the coolness factor! Anyone agrees with me?

I could never understand why we ended up with Power Rangers here in the U.S. and not Kamen Rider. I've always enjoyed Kamen Rider. That suit is first rate Danny. I can understand, I would be thinking about getting it too. ^_-

I love Kamen Rider Kabuto !?! I'm watching fansubs of it. (err...dont understand japanese hehe). I was hooked when I first watched the first episode. Check out http://www.tvnihon.com/ for some torrent files. They also have Some Super Sentai Series Shows which i love it too compare to the Power Rangers, but that's another story.

Kamen Rider is a "slightly" more mature version of the Power Rangers genre. I love the show! The actions great and it doesn't take itself too seriously. Its campy when it knows to be campy!

i am a big big time fan of the series...grew up watching videotapes of the Kamen Rider seris Black and Black RX...which were banned in Taiwan...u had to get them illegally due to excessive violence and grotesque alien customs...neverthelss, it has been become a cult favorite among Janpanese Tongkatsu (i think i means sci-fi live action genere).... followers around the world. I never got a chance to see the latest Kabuto, but the character design looks great, so does the bike! Yikes, I want buy Kamen Rider suite just to impress pedestrians on the street! PS: to danny, we need some Kamen Rider avatars on this site!
