Witchblade has been a series that Ive been trying to regularly keep up with and made a point of doing so since I discovered it at the Tokyo Anime Fair.
Without giving too much away, Witchblade is a story that revolves around some sort of bracelet called the Witchblade which one day finds itself on the wrist of the well endowed (very) Masane. The Witchblade enables Masane to transform from an average (!) mother next door into a killing machine... OK, that was a crap description and there's more to the story than that but if you enjoy characters with big big big eyes slashing away at each other then this is the anime for you.

Nearly forgot to mention however that the animation and art is quite ruff in places - a bit like Speed Grapher (OK -  worse than) but just like Speed Grapher, the story is interesting enough to keep watching.
Above: Masane as the clumsy mother...
Above: Masane as the no-so-clumsy killer machine in Witchblade mode...
Below: Witchblade figure out next month - 4,683 yen from AmiAmi - or you could pay more for it if you want from Amazon and get it for 7,678 yen instead!

I've read a few anime-centric blogs that gave it an average rating. I'll check it out sometime, but right now, my heart belongs to Haruhi Suzumiya and her brigade

never heard of this. don't know if you know, but there is a comic book series here in the states called Witchblade. it has been running since the mid-90's, and the concept is very similar. basically, a bracelet, called the Witchblade, gives a NYPD detective named Sara Pezzini super-killer-powers :) typical mid-90's comic, hot chick, who loses much of her clothing when using the Witchblade, while fighting the forces of evil. now if the anime ends up having a dual katana wielding assassin, and a multi-billionare nut-job after the Witchblade, that might be more than coincidence.

ok... went to Top Cow's website, the producer's of the Witchblade comic... guess they licensed it, because they are advertising the anime on their website with a link to the japanese website. go figure.

I'm not interested in Witchblade at all, especially considering that it's done by Gonzo's "C Team" (to quote the Heisei Democracy.) Also, it's an adaption of some superhero comic, and I don't care for those either.

Also, I really don't think I could watch something with worse animation than Speed Grapher. Oh God.

I've read the Witchblade comic when I was a teenager - it was done by TOP COw as part of Inage Comics... back then it was decent, but i couldn't get into the characters. And Witchblade wasn't a mother in the original comic books... if i remember correctly she was a young cop.

Sounds like an interesting story but I don't think I'll give it a DL. Right now, especially today, my heart goes out to Haruhi Suzumiya and her SOS-Dan like Leo said.

It is one interesting story with one of the most hilarious concepts.

The animation quality in this anime is really not up to today's standards, and the story is meh. Why watch this when you gould be watching Top wo Nerae 2, Karas, Keroro, Mushishi, Ergo Proxy ... (the list of RAD, new anime goes on and on)

I think the CG quality of those "blade lady" is not good enough. If you see the ending part of the cartoon, you will find out that the CG quality of Masane is a lot better than other part of the cartoon.

Theres two different versions of this show, specifically in regards to the quality of the animation. A TV broadcast, which was horribly drawn, and they redrew nearly the entire series for a DVD release, when comparing the animation side by side, the changes they made were an ungodly upgrade from the original TV broadcast.
