Been looking forward to the film for ages after reading the book so made sure we went to see it on the day it came out.
The film is generally true to the book - some scenes were totally different however but were probably filmed that way from the challenge of fitting everything into two and a half hours. For example, in the book, Langdon needed time to figure out some of the puzzles but he managed to solve them in the film very quickly indeed which felt a bit odd after reading the book.
The general gist of the story was left as is however and I think that people who enjoyed the book will enjoy the film too - just dont expect it to be exactly like the book.
First timers to the Da Vinci Code may find the film a bit overwhelming due to the amount of information one has to absorb whilst processing the action bits in between.

As usual, we went to the Toho (previously Virgin) cinema complex at Roppingi Hills and booked online - this time discovering a "hack" to get good seats. Even though one can book tickets online, the folks over here are generally accustomed to the old way of buying tickets which is to go and queue up for them.
As there aren't that many people booking online, this works a charm. Go to the Toho site for Roppongi and start to book a ticket. If you are allocated crap seats, open a *different* browser and repeat the same process (dont forget to keep the crap-seat browser session open. Hopefully, you will be assigned better seats as you are blocking off the crap seats in a different browser session. If you run out of browsers, use the other computers in your house or look for a Firefox extension to support multiple browser sessions - let us know if you find one ^^.

I just saw it yesterday, and I gotta say that I was a bit disappointed in the movie. When I read the book, I couldn't put it down, but during the movie, at some point, I couldn't wait for it to be over. As a movie, it's okay, but compared to the book, I thought it just didn't have the same feel to it. I actually think Dan Brown's other book, "Angels & Demons" would've made a better movie. Oh well, I do give props to Ian McKellan. He played an awesome Lee Teabing.

Never read the book but I thought it was a pretty good movie (the ending was pretty good and the albino guy gave me a quite scare) We also book our ticket online, however there are no seat allocation, its just first come first serve.

BTW you should read http://www.howstuffworks.com/davinci-code.htm/printable
it kind of provide you some facts that reveal that there some fiction in the book/movie.

i watched the movie, i'd have to say that it was GREAT MOVIE!!! but if i had read the book, i'd be disappointed, just like when i watched Memoirs of a Geisha, the book was way better than the movie. another book that i've read that i'm hoping doesn't get the hollywood treatment, John Allyn's 47 Ronin.

Here in France, this movie has received a very bad feedback from the specialists... I think this is because the director didn't respect some basical french place. But people will be more friendly with it. And the book has been a best seller here too.

I will wait the DVD release and rent it (cinema is too expensive to watch a "maybe" good movie)

the movie was fine to me. not too over the top with suspense and surprises for the plot though. for some reason, i was more focused on tom hanks' hairdo. it looked strange and mysteriously out of place. solving that mystery seems more interesting to me. :)

7th option: didnt read the book - but watched and loved the movie.

though i felt there were some important parts (if not, a lot) of the novel missing from the movie. XP oh well, it would surely take well over 3 hrs to include all important things from the book. it was good enough for me
