Holy hell ! At least they respect pedestrian traffic there in Japan. Its not as friendly here where all the drivers have to speed through and maime people and animals (dogs, cats) occasionally.

I've been to those closed off streets myself in Shinjuku. They are a good idea for shoppers but probably a hassle for drivers.
