Didn't have a chance to look at the other poll choices since my eyes immediately went to the top one. ^^ Nice idea, that force field thingy. Ooh, questions? Goodie. Where I get my anime? Well, unfortunately, all the anime we ever have on TV here are those english dubbed pieces of shite, edited to death and completely erased of all traces of japanese culture in them. So, I resort to the internet, like any level-minded bloke faced with such circumstances. ^^ Subs? I completely rely on subs, since I'm in the infant stages of learning Japanese. =( It usually takes a day or two after the episode has aired on Japan, but I don't follow it that much. I just find it whenever I want to. Older anime is indeed easier to find, but those *really* ancient classics are near impossible... unless you ask someone to torrent it to you. I'll be sure to keep my eye on Zegapain. But one question, though; where do they get these weird anime names? =D

For me, I usually rely on http://tokyotosho.com for anything under the sun, manga, music, anime, foreign subbed anime etc. For strictly unlicensed anime, animesuki is the place. Raws, in my experience, usually come out the day after the showing on tokyotosho, with subs ranging from a few hours after the raw appears, to a week or two for new shows. Bakaupdates is also a pretty good place to look for subbed English anime. For older stuff, some people usually post batch torrents on tokyotosho. Boxtorrents, you can get some licensed stuff, all batched, so its the complete series and sometimes also with english language. You can even dl licensed manga there, but it's not exactly LEGAL to dl stuff that have been licensed in the US. I'm completely reliant on subs, as I don't speak japanese at all.

Hmm, Don't have the time (or patience) to dig stuff off the net to download/watch. Our larger electronic and bookstores usually carry a good selection of USA licensed anime. If a series really looks compelling, I'll spring for the periodic single volume releases. However, I usually wait (quite) awhile and eventually get a "thinpack" of the series I like which is the whole series on several dvd's at in a single box set. Pros: Cheaper than buying the single volumes. Cons: Not all series come out as thinpacks, few inserts/goodies, and longer waits for a series to be released. When all else fails for certain anime/manga titles--I punt and hit Amazon.com (like for Robot).

Whoa, looks priddy coo indeed. How do I get my anime? Well I either wait till its out in my local EBgames, or I get it thru my friends friend (who works for Madman Ent. Australia), and I can get all new releases within 2 days of them being shipped to Australia. Must check this one out.

fansubbed for Zegapain already came out as for english. done by Megami-anime. i usually buy my anime DVD's from elec. store called "future shop" (in canada) but here, all anime products are EXPENSIVE. so i've very "picky" about what kind of anime i would like to buy thanks to my lack of finance. But fan-subs are free so YAH!!! GOGOGO fansub~ oh btw, Zegapain mechas = "Neon Light" GUNDAMS? lol. they look pretty colourful

I usually rely on torrent sites, such as http://www.torentspy.com or http://www.boxtorents.com. For a popular anime to be subed (such as Naruto) it takes at most a week, sometimes less. And yes, it is notoriously hard to find older anime. For instance I have been trying for years to get my hands on Super Dimensional Fortress Macross, but to no avail...if they have been dubbed in America as well as being old its next to impossible to find sadly...

Zegapain is bloody amazing! however, don't you guys think the mecha weapons design has somewhat of a tiny resemblance to Z.O.E??

The character animation looks pretty cool, but the mech animation (or just the mechs in general) look really out of place. Why can't they just do cel-based mechs instead of this CG garbage.

If its new stuff like Zegapain I get it from fansubs, mostly animesuki.com because they have unliceansed anime. I rely 100% on the subs because i know like 0 Japanese. If it is liceansed i just by the dvd's and watch it with the dubs because im lazy like that. and to chopper dave macross has just been rereleased in the US. Vol 2. came out last month. They even put a new dub in it, they used the same voice actor for Minmay (i think thats her name) as the japanese dub.

Like some people here, I get my daily dose of anime and anime related things at: http://www.tokyotosho.com/ They've got anime, jap drama, manga, jap music, raws...and hentai :D And I rely on subs, although I'm trying to learn jap.

Its really difficult (financially) to obtain legitimate Anime DVDs here and if you do it normally costs about 30-40$ per DVD. Stores such as Best Buy, Future Shop, London Drugs etc. all sell them (abiet a limited selection). Anime stores that are scattered within the Lower Mainland also have anime but tend to gouge the consumer with high prices. (i.e. http://www.sakuramedia.com). The occassional sale of old anime sometimes offsets this. I remember the time when I purchased one DVD (0083 SDM) for $40 before I was aware of other means of obtaining them. However it has gotten even more difficult these days with certain ISPs employing a smart P2P deep packet filter called "Ellacoya" that essentially throttles down speeds when using any peer-to-peer application such as BT, eDonkey, Shareaza, Limewire etc. At this moment I'm using Shaw's Xtreme-1 package that boasts a theoretical speed of 7.0 mbps with a 1.0 mbps upstream. I have never reached those speeds or half of those speeds for that matter (although its possible to score "4XXX" on speakeasy's bandwidth tester"), and its taken three days to download 7 GB with the computer on 24/7 which is less than when I was with Telus and their Enhanced ADSL that featured 2.0mbps and a 1.5mbps upstream. Anime can be found @ http://www.mininova.org http://www.isohunt.com http://www.boxtorrents.com http://www.baka-updates.com or on IRC or newsgroups. Cheers,

Yea MAGIC, I knew about that already, but I dont want ANYTHING to do with the dub, or as Harmony Gold so lovingly renamed it "Robotech" *shudders* But thanks anyway! ^_^

There are a fair number of fansub sites out there, who usually post bitTorrents of anime with subtitles about a week after it comes out in Japan. http://www.animesuki.com Is a good resource for unlicensed anime. However, the fansub community does what it wants, so some good anime goes untranslated. And -- as you pointed out, if it's not new, it's hard to find. You'll have to go into the dark depths of IRC channels to collect anime that's over a year old.

If it's new and running, I'll download a sub. If it's old and unavailable, I'll download a sub. If it's old and available for me to buy, I'll either buy or rent. Eventually, I'd like to stop relying on fansubs, given I have a lot of beefs with them and it's better simply to just learn Japanese. As far as Zegapain goes, the first episode was good. Reminded me of Evangelion, a lot.

I can´t find anime series on dvd in our country. But there are some like Princess Mononoke (film) very nice. But I must download it with english subs. It takes much time to wait for czech subs...

Depends on the mood of the subber, if they feel like it, they can do it within 8 hrs (atleast that was a record set by one of the top notch subbing grp AonE) Anyway for KiddyGrade and other older animes, depending on either how cheapskate you want to be or how much regards you have for copyrights law, you will be better off getting DVD rips with dubs, you can enjoy, laugh at, whatsoever at the dubbing.

Forgot to add, although pinty chest is an eyesore, I am still glad that the Zegapian mechas dont sprout COCKPITS like ZOE or Wings of Rean.

Well if its finding anime online its not that hard a deal, but when it comes to fan-subs it means time and money. i have a T1 connection with supreme bandwith but network shapers make it hard so i eather use encryption that the program hase such as Utorrent, or a ssl client to safely get my information to my pc at fastest possible speed, in one month i was able to get 800gigs of anime most unlicensed a few form underground groups, but you cant think all aired anime is unlicensed now anime is beaing licensed in ameriaca before it comes out making fan-subing ilegal For that reason stoped my fan-sub downloding and started htting the RAW stuff, i figured if fan-subs do becomme 100% ilegal, RAWS are the best place to be sience 1.it form broadcast TV its not ilegal to record TV sright form the source (allthogh i dont know about paid channels) 2.the waiting peroid from broadcast to release can be 6 hours to 2 days at most 3.no subs, a better way to force my self to learn japanese if any one knows more laws about fan-subing i would like to know more. oh MANGA runs the same game as anime, you can get it RAW and translated.

this amime looks kick ass cool i cant wait to watch it as evry otaku konws cute girls, giant robots and form the makers of gundam means "sombody gonna die" *cires at Z gundam pain*

he he ...i get to watch a lot of jap anime on animax and channels like hungama tv. my all time fav is doraemon. nothing can beat this robo cat :D doraemon is called the japanese mickey mouse..am i right?

Well, how I get anime? via 3 main methods, if i badly want to watch a show, raws then, if i am willing to sit back and relax till a sub comes out, a sub. for raws, the 2 main methods are to. 1, use bit torrent, u can find lots of stuff on tokyotosho, or alternative , some japanese P2P program like share if i really want to get it 1/2 hour after it airs in japan. For subs, its either Bittorrent or IRC with bittorrent being the more prefered choice because of it's concept of sharing. In terms of legality, for my country, it has a FTA with japan, so by Right I can download raws and watch, and subtitle it myself under fair use(grey area) BUT! i cant d/l subs legally, nor distribute subbed anime . Especially locally licensed stuff. But i dont really care about the law when it comes to such intellectual property because the local distributor i feel has not yet matured enough to bring it to a level that can compete with giants like Funmation and such. in the end is up to what you interpret about your law. and how you download :) bottom line is, if you download and you like the show , do your part in paying for the salaries of the poor workers by buying some merchandise or an original copy of the anime. If not , just delete it from your computer, and thank yourself you got the power to choose what to buy :)

Zegapain (subbed) was released by Megami-Anime on the 8th @ www.animesuki.com

@Daniel: LOL I don't think you have to worry too much about Zegapain becoming a huge "death fest" a la Zeta Gundam because Tomino isn't the director. I loved the first episode. This show has a lot of potential IMHO. Cool mechs, pretty character designs and a storyline that seems like it's filled with mysteries..you can't go wrong. There's also the makings of a Macross-style love triangle (the main guy, the main girl and the main guy's female childhood friend).

well as far as the body-count goes, so long as it's not zeta or victory gundam it should be fine......lol

Ive seen all your blogs and stuff, and im impressed, your skills in painting models is absolutely amazing, you should really try painting warhammer models and seeing if they win golden demon awards. I like the Rei models you have painted, (Evangalion), sorry, i dont know how to spell her name right, since im from a different continent.

I tend to use and archive site here www.anime-browser.com you pay a small fee, but I prefer having fast direct downloads that have torrents with no seeds

MADMAN AUSTRALIA! THEY ARE DVD'S AND COME WITH SUBS! YES I DO CARE ABOUT SUBS, I HATE WATCHING IT IN ENGLISH, ENGLISH TENDS TO LOSE ALOT OF THE EFFECTS/EMOTIONS! OLDER ONES ARE HARDER TO COME BUY, I WAITED AGES TO FIND "HAKENDON DOG WARRIOR".....I hope that answers your questions.......

BTW, "Zegapain" looks awesome too, I hope I get to check it out sometime soon......
Found this site, more reviews on it and tones of free Anime, Manga even hentai woot http://forum.nihonomaru.com/index.php
LOL, thanks katie! Now for some button clicking action...
oh god they totally copied the graphics from sousei no aquarion =_= or known as genesis of aquarion
