Just got back from the Tokyo Anime fair 2006 and I’m absolutely knackered. There was lots to see including the trailer for the new Ghost in the Shell series - Solid State Society (which I'm rendering now), Bandai had MG Gyan on display and other stuff that I will be sharing with you. The report is going to come to you a bit more split up than usual but rest assured you'll get a ton of it. Dont forget to check out Akihabara News this week for lots of cool HD video footage of the fair.

Oh and before I forget, I played Another Century's Episode 2 which they had up and running and I must say that I needed to run and change my underpants twice - the graphics kick seven shades of shite out of Gundam Climax and the game play is top notch - especially when you call your standby mecha partners who fly in to shoot the living daylights out of your enemy!

Today and tomorrow are the business days for press and business dealings - the show is open to the public this Sat and Sun. One thing I dont understand about these shows is that if you dont have one of these press passes then you're not allowed to take photos or video clips - there were "NO PHOTOS" signs coming out of people ears! Whats the point of having a show when folks who pay to attend cant take pics?
Press folks on the other hand get treated differently - apart from being able to shoot what we want - we had a press room to relax, use the net, dump our crap (bags and stuff) and have free drinks.

There wasn't a lot on sale - saw lots of Gunsword stuff but that was only for display. Got this T-shirt of Chihaya Kisaragi from The Idol Master - perfect for the first day at work at MSN as Windows Live CGM Product Manager ^^

BTW, do you like how I strategically placed my toes at the bottom of this photo on purpose (not)

Man, that's a lot of stuff you must have lugged around. How did you carry that all around AND take photos.

You're right about the press pass thing. I went last year on a weekday and they didn't let me take a single photo but other people with press passes were allowed. Totally, not fair.

Is that a bag featuring new Art from Gundam ANT? Nice looks like you bagged yourself a lot of goodies! Is it really expensive to attend on of those fairs or is it like a car show here where it costs $30CAD / 3000Yen to get in?

Cheers

Goodieeeees! Makes me want to go to "Spellenspektakel" in Eindhoven (Netherlands). You get a lot of goodies there too.
Unfortunately it's more focussed on table-top games, and there's not much anime or manga related items except for trading-card games...
