Sunrise releases three fifteen minute long animations based on the Seed series next month entitled Gundam Seed C.E.73 Stargazer.
The series will be broadcasted on the net and at hobby/anime conventions and as far as I know, there will only be three stories.
The two main characters are Swen Kal Bayan (sorry - translating that from Japanese) who's a Natural and pilot of Strike Noir. And then theres Selene Mac Grif (?? another bad translation) who's a Coordinator - long green hair and big...anime eyes.
The main Gundam is the one you see in this pic - I've got a color pic in this months NewType mag but haven't gotten round to doing the you-know-what. GAT-X 105E Strike Noir looks like a cross between Strike, Akatsuki and Freedom because it seems to have huge wing type weapons attached to the back.

I'm not sure why Sunrise have gone and bothered to make such a short series - could it be so that they can bring out more Gundam kits? Whatever - the series better be good.

OH no! No more Gundam Seed please. Destiny was really rushed and left many concerns up in the air since the director heeded to fan input and less on "preserving" the normal tone of most of the story arcs in Gundam.

It kinda makes people upset because there is really nothing new about the designs of the mecha or storyline. With Seed and Seed Destiny sharing the same hijacking, rehashing of action scenes and AEUG like offensives it seems that the Seed arc is repackaging and tailoring itself for children.

Death to Gundam Seed. I wish Shin was killed. =)

Even Mobile Fighter G-Gundam was better.... @@

Hmm we certainly have a difference of opinion Nick. SEED is actually my favorite series out of all that I've seen (the ones I haven't seen in entirety being ZZ, Victory, Turn-A and X). I do agree that Destiny wasn't absolutely great, but I'd disagree with you that G-Gundam is better than SEED (G-Gundam is my 4th favorite series, just to let you know, with the original Gundam being #2 and Zeta being #3). That being said, I'm looking forward to this anime. It'll be interesting to see an EA lead instead of a neutral (Kira) or ZAFT (Shinn, Athrun) one. The Strike Noir looks like an interesting design as well. Although the name is the same as the Strike Gundam, it looks pretty different. From the pics, looks like the beam swords are incorporated into the wings, and it brandishes some handgun-type weapons on it's hips. I also see what appears to be beam cannons on the wings as well. I can't wait to see it in action. I'm really curious who they're going to tie this series with Destiny, since they happen during the same timeframe. Oh well, call me a SEEDling if you wish, but so far the Cosmic Era has entertained me the most out of all Gundam. I might be in the minority in the Gundam community, but I seriously can't wait for this to come out.

Believe you me I heard about this a week or two ago. I agree it looks kinda pointless being three 15 minute episodes...its based during Destiny right after the "Break the World" incident (the falling of Junius 7)

Here is a full scan:
http://www.mahq.net/mecha/gundam/seed-stargazer/gat-x105e.jpg

I think it looks...questionable. But then again when the first images of Freedom came out I thought it looked like crap, but when I saw it in the show it was a marvelous work of art. Don't rely on the images they first show you before you judge it!

This is what MAHQ has to say about Stargazer:
Unlike the previous SEED series, the three episode Stargazer is directed by Susumu Nishizawa instead of Mitsuo Fukuda. Also, SEED and DESTINY character animation director Kenichi Ohnuki takes over as character designer from Hisashi Hirai. Set during the same timeframe as DESTINY, Stargazer shifts its focus to a new set of characters. So far, two characters have been announced: Sven Cal Bayan, a male Natural from the Earth Alliance's secret Phantom Pain unit, and Selene McGriff, a female Coordinator working as a researcher on the "GSX-401FW Stargazer Project". In addition, one mobile suit has been revealed: the GAT-X105E Strike Noir. Unlike other Gundam OVA releases, Stargazer will be made available through net streams and other events. The first episode is set to debut in May 2006, and the series hasn't been licensed for a U.S. release.

Mecha design is by Kunio "Please let me rest in peace" Okawara. The upside is that the clean-up is done by BEE-CRAFT. While I love Kunio, his works rarely sport anything new or unique nowadays and yet this is the brilliant mind that made Genesic Gaogaigar. I think Bandai's repressing his creative juices for the sake of marketing and selling toy merchandise...Danny was right in translating the names. The more acurate form would be Sven Cal Bayan and Selene McGriff.

I'd like to use Danny's possibly patented exclamation...

"bantha-pudoo-for-brains" is what describes the director of Gundam Seed Destiny best. He had terrible pacing and ended up wasting one of the last few episodes to Meer Campbell. I saw GSD just to see Mwu, and when he did come back there was no explanation as to how he was found alive (albiet the GS Special Edition had his damaged helmet edited out) or how how his memory was erased. (As far as I know, only widespread speculation exists) Perhaps maybe the side-story of CE73 could clear up this and many of the problems looming in the GSD arc.

The third installment of the SEED series? Not only that but a mini series of 15 minutes? Hopefully this time they use a different director because Destiny seemed too rushed to me. The beginning was good but later started to fall apart. Gundam SEED was a great series, a bit boring at the beginning but got really good about mid-way. Hopefully Stargazer will be a bit better than Destiny. And if they're gonna make full episode series, plz end it there with the most spectacular episodes. Continuing with the same will make it go bad.

And on another note, Strike Noir looks a bit... bland to me. Hopefully if I see it, it'll kick major ass like Freedom and Strike-Freedom did when they first appeared.

Read previous posts before you ask a question people. Fukada is NOT directing this. I used to hate GSD too, but I recently watched it from beginning to end and substituted episode 50 for Final Plus and it revived the entire series for me greatly. The only complaint I have about GSD is that they used episode 47 as a filler for Meer Campbell. That was one HUGE mistake...

I'm in the process of doing that myself ChopperDave. I'm up to episode 10. It is a lot more enjoyable when you can watch it straight through without waiting a week per episode. Still not exceptional, but I like it a lot more than I did before. I wonder if they're going to introduce new ZAFT MS for this series. My thought is this "Stargazer Project" is either a superweapon that Dullindal eventually rejected or another Gundam. Or maybe it's something that ties into the "Destiny Plan".
