日本語/Japanese  Wed 03/01 00:11 JST
Some of you may have heard of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test - a test held once a year in December to test your Ninja skill of Japanese speaking. Passing the test at any level between 1 and 4 is a handy thing to have on your resume - it gives an indication of your language ability and helps HR filter out the ton of resumes they receive daily. Its also a good goal to reach for. For those who are thinking of taking up Japanese, why don't you aim to take level 4 (the easiest) and study up for it?

Now here's another test but I'm not sure exactly how usefull it is...
This has been around for a while now but if you fancy it, you can take a test to measure your Otaku knowledge. The test is organized by a group called OTAK. The test covers things like anime, manga, otaku vocabulary and what have you. Unlike the Japanese Language Proficiency Test where you all cram into a hall (with some person nearby letting off raspberries), the Otaku exam doesn't have a venue - you buy a magazine which has the questions and a form to fill in - fill in the form and send it off...
Hmmmmm wouldn't it be great if all exams were like that?
Anyway, if you are interested and do understand Japanese then you can take a look at the sample questions...

I bet I'm not otaku enough to answer even a third of the questions.

I'm actually somewhat inclined on taking on the 4 kyuu JLPT. I think I would pass, but again I'm not 100%sure of what the criteria are. **starts reading**
