It's time to feast your mince pies on the mecha/starwars goodies that were at the Wonder Festival. The event was so big that Gonzague and I were flat out after going through all the toys on the first floor and just ended up skimming through the second floor - thats what happens when you get old ToT.

Starting off with this mecha from Five Star Stories. I don't know anything about the series but the Mecha designs are mind boggling cool. They also look mind boggling fragile too.

King Gainer mecha from the series of the same name. This comes from Kaiyodo's lineup of Revoltech figures. Anime in the iPod for King Gainer coming soon...

The R-Type fighter. One thing I really hate about R-type is that you loose *all* your weapons when you die - I can understand loosing one weapon per hit but loosing all is unforgivable.

For those who haven't tried R-Type yet - you can try out the quite accurate Flash version.

I only ended up buying one figure which was about 1,200 yen - a Keroro Gunso. Didn't see any painted figures that I wanted. I did see painted kits on display that I *did* want but would have had to steal them and I haven't been stealing for ages. Huh? Erm, what am I saying?! J/K J/K
Anyway, the Cosplay part 4 is up next and then the finale "Directors Cut" / "Unpublished Photos" - I'll think of something cool to call it.

Wow those mecha from Five Star Stories look really impressive! Are they all figures or are some of them model kits?
I've seen a few of the resin casts of the suits from Five Star Stories on sale here, but haven't been brave enough to ask or buy them =|

Spatula in Far reaches of the North
Nick,

Most of the Five Star Story stuff is now made with Plastic Injection simply because the resin casts have been EXTREMELY expensive, as well as rare, to my knowledge.

Hobby Link Japan has a few of the 1/100 Wave 5 Star stuff in stock for a friendly price.

I visited a local model shop during the Christmas season and they stocked the Five Star Stories kits and if I recall correctly, it was about $175 for a small scaled one made by Volks.

They seem really fragile for my liking but their designs are really cool and the fragility of the small parts adds detail which kind of makes it a double edge sword =|

Cheerio

Sent you an email regarding the unnamed mechs. And yeah, it's V-Siren. I thought it was a Bang Doll because of the face but it had Jagd Mirage horns so I had to double check. And no, the SRW mech isn't R-Gun. It's a mass produced Huckebein Mk. II from the OG2 series.

And yeah, I made another mistake in my email. The pic with Ideon and SPT Layzner: Ideon's holding a Micro Black Hole Cannon and not the Ide Gun. If it's some other gun, it's still definitely not Ideon Gun. So the universe is still safe since it's not holding it's KILL EVERYONE gun.

I have a question about your canon set-up danny,

1. What settings and lens did you use during wonderfest?
2. did you use a tripod/monopod?

I'm still fairly new with my own Digital Kiss ; ; I doubt I can emulate your Photography skills *cries* especially at special events whereas you have to be constantly moving and being pushed around crowded areas.

Any good tips?

For the first 3 no-idea mecha it is from the series of "ORIGINAL GENERATION" The Animation. It was first released on video games on PS2 known as "Super Robot Wars-J".

The one holding a big sword with a lion head on it's chest was from the "Brave Series" released by sunrise in the early 90's known as "Brave Exkaiser". Exkaiser was the first brave series released in 1990, then continue with "FighBird", "Da Garn", "Brave Express Might Gaine", "Brave Police J-Decker", "Dagwon" and the brave series ended with "Gaogaigar" in 1997.

The last mecha, the one standing with some after-war-look with an elephant head on it's chest is "DANCOUGAR" The Beast Machine God from Soul of Chogokin. The cartoon was released in late 1980's by Ashi Production.
That's all i know.... Good day mate!

LOL. The MP Huckebein Mk. II did appear in the SRW Animated Series Original Generation. But they never appeared in SRW J. They only appeared in SRW OG2 (Original Generation 2) and no, SRW J was never released in PS2. SRW J was only for Gameboy Advance just like OG and OG2.

On the other hand, I wish they'd release more Mortar Headds here... I want that Jagd Mirage. I saw a SOC Dancougar in die-cast metal and has the animals separated and could combine into Dancougar but they cost an arm and a leg...

Photo 1718 is the fighter from RAYFORCE which I must own at all costs!
