Saw this on the shelf many moons ago in an age when I took absolutely no interest in Gundam - despite having been in Japan for 5 years at the time. My initial impressions were that the huge boosters on the shoulders just looked odd. But after watching the Stardust Memory series - my views on the design of this had totally changed - this has to be one of my favorite mecha designs. But then again, I think I say that about all the figures I have...
This is GUNDAM FIX FIGURATION #0008 Physalis which came out back in May 2005 - retailed for about 3,864 yen and can still be found in retail outlets here n there. The paint job is excellent, joints are articulate and if your little sister drops it, maybe one piece will fall off - unlike the new generation Fix Figurations where at least 6 parts will fall off.
The only complaints I have about this figure is that the shield is too heavy for Physalis to hold it - the shield has to rest on the ground. The napalm launcher joint on the back is also a bit iffy - but apart from that, this is a fine figure to fidget around with.

Very nice Danny! I love Physallis! (although its more commonly refered to as "GP02A"

Also that is not a napalm launcher. It is a Nuclear bazooka. Thats why this Gundam is equiped with so much armor and such a beastly shield; so that when it fires it will be safe from the nuclear blast. (The huge thrusters are to compensate the GP02A's massive weight)

Stardust Memory features amazing mecha designs. The final fight between the mobile armors makes the whole series worth it. And yes, Physalis is badass.

Yummy, the GP02A Physalis is a gigantic piece of work. The figure looks really cool and it seems to be in proportion (unlike the early 1/144 model, and the 1/100 MG) with respect to the suit in 0083SM. Have you seen the Double Zeta Gundam series yet Danny?

Cheers,

Sorry Danny, GFF GP02A is probably my least favorite one from all Gundam-related products by Bandai. The main reason being the design of the face. If you compare it with MG GP02A, you can see the difference immediately. For me, the MG version looks much more menacing, evil you might say, which suits the character very much, since it was hijacked by the Zeon. I think Katoki tries to pull out the "menacing" bits and re-design the face to look more Gundam-like, which kills the character really. Also, I feel that the two binders on the shoulders are a bit too long. Now they are almost like the shields of the arms instead.

Check out a 1-35 scale resin kit head display model by G System Shop at www.g-system-shop.com. Awesome!

Looks pretty sweet. I never picked it up because I became enraptured in the G FIX dual mode stuff, and that just didn't have it. I did think that the Zephyranthes should have been upgradable to the Full Vernier version. When I had the option to pick up the Physalis, I got the Gerbera Tetra instead.

Physalis is one of my favourite gundam designs, unfortunately it does'nt get much attention from bandai as far as models are concerned. Im patiently awaiting an update for the somewhat outdated model.
