look unexpected nice in the pictures above. They really did a nice job on the gold color! for some reason the picture of the head in third picture looks too shiny..

OMG I LOVE the Akatsuki! I never really noticed how much it looks like Strike...thats beacuse I have yet to find any decent pictures of it! T.T Oh BTW this is a 1/144th HG not a MG ^.^

Thw thought of having to strip the gold plated surface makes it such a boo boo! Stupid Bandai should come out with a cheaper version which is not gold plated instead and let the consumer have a choice!

i love the akatsuki... why? cause it took a straight blast from Destiny and deflected it like nothing... hence making shinn look like a noob and dumb... muahahhaha >.< However, when i get mine (hopefully they will make an 1/100 or 1/60) i want to paint it black like the proto-type pix featured a month ago in HJ.

there are two kinds of mecha fans in this world. Those that "get" gold or pink gundams and those that don't. I'm in the "don't get" camp ;-) Oh well, each to his own! It does look like a very nice kit.

NICE GUNDAM!! TOO BAD IS IN 1/144...... ANYONE KNOWS WHEN ISTHE 1/100 COMING OUT AH??

Bandai isn't going to release a 1/100 model of Akatsuki, or any other mobile suit from Gundam Seed Destiny for that matter. They killed it off a long time ago.

a pefrect grade version would shure be nice, the same for the freedom

wa that suks..... no 1/100... i dont get why they dont lor... is such a good gundam or mobile shut and suck a wast to not to make it in 1/100

Yeah, gold doesn't make much sense at all. The Strike Freedom would look sooo much cooler with grey joints.

Mine just arrived - will be sanding down that glossy glod for sure.

That's a beautiful looking Akatsuki. I'd prefer that color gold than that too sleek and shine original paint. The one thing I'd like to see from Bandai is a 1/60 Destiny Gundam. Light-up action just like Strike-Freedom. XD

I just love Akatsuki - it's just so cool and awesome in SEED Destiny. I really hope that Bandai would release the 1-100 scale model for Akatsuki. It's one of those great mecha which are ignored even though they shine in the anime. Another one would be Infinite Justice piloted by Athrun. When is Bandai going to release the 1-100 scale version to match with Strike Freedom? BTW, why is Dominion in the first picture? It should have being the Archangel right?

(Warning:Very long post)Cool these guys are really ace when it comes to modelling. Also just for those of you who don't want to waste there lives just sanding the gold chrome off the Akatsuki than I reccommend stripping the gold off with Formula 409 and its international variants.Though I don't know the variants or having any links you shold try to contact the makers of the product at www.formula409.com another option is looking for a product that works similarly and testing it using some leftover plastic sprues and leaving it there for 24 hours (time 409 takes to strip chrome)to see if it harms the plastic (Formula 409 does not harm plastic),also just a note if you still see some chrome left just use an old toothbrush,a clean paint brush ,or sandpaper to take it off.Chances are little to no chrome will be left using this method and the used 409 is still good for stripping kits just don't use the used 409 for cleaning your house.I must sound like a spokes person for the product now.Oh yeah and I'm lovin' the new icons Danny Choo.

too bad all the new good designs nowadays only exist in 1:144

Cool! I like this model. Thanks for the info and for your hard work Mr.Choo!

Hmmm Shiranui Akatsuki resembles Hyaku Shiki from the Zeta Series.

I wonder if the Oowashi (Atmospheric Equipment) Akatsuki will have the bling bling gold coating as well...

Looks pretty nice from what I see. I havent been buying gundam models and actions figures for a while now. I just dont have the time or the money to be investing in things like this but if I did have the extra cash id probably buy one.

Well its cool!...I'm just wondering when Bandai is gonna produce most of its 1/100 scale GMs example :RGM-89 Jegan, MSA Nero, Geara Doga, Zugock, Hygock, other side story Gundam (even they have done Sentinel Gundam which is not animated) Well im sure that Bandai is thinking of the numbers of sale but if they produce it... count me in to get one!

cool i think i wanna get one does singapore sell formula 409 wondering pls anybody reply!!! THX

I found one! Very nice. i was thinking of re-painting it like in the pic, but the gloss gold is actually very nice, more than i expected it to be. I also found oowashi akatsuki, maybe the person who did this one could turn out another good packpack.

i will buy this mobile suit when i get paid on the 15th....

Not bad current price in the philippines is about 1650, awww the real figure is shiny, sword is not painted, sword's thermal blade is clear transparent instead of pink. comes with a stand, joints are gray instead of black. For more info see this. http://blog.livedoor.jp/adidas243/archives/50345537.html whehehehe.

gloss gold is a bit taccckkkkkky, but the MATT gold looks great!! I see what U mean about the shoulders though! I prefer strike 2, but I might just get myself one....

from brazil para mim o melhor gundam for me the best gundam
