Godannar has been out for a while now but is definitely worth mentioning. I am not too sure how popular this was in the west though. The story line summed up in a sentence is "mecha robots piloted by moe characters beating seven shades of shite of of evil monsters" - how much more complicated would you want it to get eh? Very smooth animation (especially the wobbly bits - yes, all the female characters wobble), and the mecha design is reminiscent of Mazinger Z.

I watched about 10 episodes of it, but then the jiggles and panty crotch shot got annoying since there's too much of it. even the mecha had jiggles! lol. But still a decent super robot series with tons of fanservice
