Don't buy Flash2Advance Ultra
Don't buy Flash2Advance Ultra
Q: What happens when you don't do yer study before doshing out a wad of money on expensive electronics?
A: You end up wasting money and buying a load of crap just like I did with the Flash2Advance Ultra 512.
One owns one of these carts for the Gameboy Advance for all the good reasons I state in my review of the EZFA (which you can find in an earlier blogg entry) - I wanted more memory - so based on the popularity of the Flash2Advance(known as F2A) I paid 18000 yen for this piece of shit - and had to buy the Linker (the USB cable which links your Gameboy Advance to your PC) separately for 3900 yen.
This has to be the worst 'gadget' I have had the displeasure of buying and I am going to lace this review with enough SEO (Search Engine Optimization) so that people thinking of buying F2A can read about it when they do a Google.
Here are all the reasons why you should not splash out your hard earned cash on F2A.
  • Its expensive.
  • The software client provided does not tell you what software you have on the cart! Thus each time you want to add new games, you have to erase the entire cart. But wait! There is no functionality which allows you to erase games OMG! You have to create a 'dummy' file which is equivalent to the size of the cart and then burn it to the cart to erase all the previous games - and then re flash the cart with games which you want on the cart.
  • The loader (pictured here) looks like it was put together by somebody who really wanted to take the piss out of some poor bastard who was unfortunate to buy one of these carts - just take a look at it! What the @#!$ are those icons!
  • The two buttons on the cart are supposed to provide some sort of cheat functionality - but it does none of that instead they stick out of the cart by about 2mm and means that you cant rest your Gameboy on a flat surface. the buttons are plastic and not rubber meaning that they also dig into your fingers.
  • As with any cart - you cant return it without spending 50 hours trying to prove that its faulty - I don't know if my cart is faulty or if its supposed to be like that. After reading a ton of complaints about F2A, I am lead to believe that its they way they made it.
  • So there you have it - if you are ready to waste your money then get this.

    jerk face in here
there are many problems that need to be solved, but the company who makes the cart is gone out of business. aargh.

the RealTimeSave works, but you can only use it with one game at a time. so if you start another game and use realtimesave, the old save is erased.

i also have a supercard, so for me there are only 2 good games, with no save method, that dont work with Supercard: Worms, and army men:operation green. the realtimesave works perfectly with both these games.

however, the realtimesave function DID NOT work with the other 20 or so games i tried. whatever, i dont give a rats arse, it does what i wanted.

this flash cart really bothers me, especially since you cant change the stupid icons, but it worked out good for me, now i can finally play WORMS-WorldParty without having to set-up the options EVERY DANG TIME. yay!
