Only saw one episode of Kanokon and decided it had much more fan service than I required so dropped it.
Dont know much about Chizuru but do know that she likes to smother some guy with her eyes? Was Kanokon on your watch list? Was it win or fail? Kanokon OP below and you can also see Chizuru in action at Sankaku Complex - NSFW if you don't work in a chocolate bra factory.
Had no idea that the shirt could be removed until I saw Azure's review. You need to do quite a bit of tugging on her though. The shirt has these teeth slots and I ended up breaking a few.
The first step I done was to pull on her legs and when she came apart I realized that I should have unbuttoned the shirt and pull away at the seams. Once thats done then its easy to remove the skirt.
She also comes with a pink cushion that you can stick in your underpants.
Chizuru slipped as I was taking photos of her.
The major boo boo about this figure is the arms - they didn't include sleeveless arms even though they implemented a cast off shirt n skirt. I would have posed her in her underwear but she looks silly with those sleeves. A lovely bod she has.
For some reason Kotobukiya likes to use gloss for the hair which makes many of their figures look bad. The photos emphasize the gloss but its actually not too bad on this one.

A couple of hi res in the Wallpaper Pool. BTW, these pics were taken on the new Kiss 2 SLR. The pics in the Wallpaper Pool are the originals. You can look at the EXIF info in those pics to see the settings I used.

I never take RAW as they take up tooo much space and is a bit too much for what I need. Do you take RAW pics or prefer the bog standard ones?
Still need to get used to the new SLR which is why the style of these photos look very different from my previous photos. The One Shot Auto Focus mode seems to be much more sensitive so even when I lock onto the face and move the camera to get the rest of the body, the camera focuses on her lower set of eyes instead. The way the camera handles light seems to be very different too.

I used to have the previous Kiss on "P" mode all the time but am taking this opportunity to learn how to take pics on full manual.
What mode do you use to take pics?
While we are on the subject of the camera, how do you sort your photos and where do you store them?
At the moment I've got a network drive with a folder called "photos" - in that folder I have sub folders Figures, Events, Gadgets, Home and Workspaces, Japan, Low Usage, Trooper and World.

The World folder has UK, DE, FR, CA, US, UK etc which contain pics taken from those countries - each of those folders have the folders sorted into 1999, 2000, 2001 etc.

Then on my local machine I have a photo folder "Recent Photos" which have 2008.01, 2008.02 etc and contains all the photos that I took that month. Once this year is out, I will copy everything to my network drive and delete my local copy.

The network drive is backed up by Time Machine to another drive and I also have the photos RSYNCed to an external drive. Will soon be getting another Flickr account to store all those photos but setting everything to "private."

I tried using iPhoto when I first got a mac and had nightmares with it. It was incredibly slow and one day it just un grouped everything so that all photos were lumped into one folder. Been thinking of trying out the new iPhoto but am wondering if the quality has improved.
Few more pics of Chizuru before seeing her casted off below.

Muchas Gracias to comrades at HobbyLink Japan for the most groovesome sample - you can get this figure of Chizuru on their site for 12,800 yen - they ship worldwide.
Theres also a Foxy version of Chizuru but thats only available at the Kotobukiya Online Store. Not sure which one I like the most.

It's sometimes considered the "legal" trolling, hence the probable crackdown here.
Just let 50 others post, then 1st post them all to wreak havoc.

So, not recommended.

I thought about making a first post comment when I made one. I decided that it wouldn't matter to the readers and it would just be boring to read. Before you post anything you should consider if anybody cares to read it ^^

At least this is my point of view and it's also why I dropped some posts halfway though writing them. DC generally have a decent quality of posts and we should keep it that way.

I love the Kanokon series. That being said, I am not a big fan of Chizuru's character in terms of personality and design. Nozomu on the other hand...

Will my wishes for a Nozomu figure ever be granted? NOZOMU FANS! please reply...

I've been watching Kanokon, but for some reason been really slow to go through the eps even though I find them really funny (yes, I'm that kind of person ^_^;;). That said, the face on this figure seems a bit off to me for some reason. The body is smokin though.

I see you are now comrades with HLJ - they're my most used retailer. I actually first used them years and years ago to get me Yamato Macross toys.

In regards to how I organise my folders. I have a folder on my desktop called "New Folder" which I save my photos too. ^_^;;

I was actually considering this figure after you posted her on news, but I am disappointed with the sleeve oversight. She'd make one smexy amputee tho. Maybe they figured you wouldn't focus on the arms when she's undressed.

Are the sleeves sculpted on or is it a layer of plastic? Maybe someone there dares to "rip apart" the sculpting to take the "sleeves" layer off of her arms.

Love the curves, hate the sleeves. I mean c'mon, knowing who the figure is , it absolutely should be castoffable. and thus if it is, it's sad they didn't include extra arms. Hope fully this is a huge pvc.

I was thinking the same thing. I would have made sense to include extra arm parts with this figure. Certainly looks like a sexy figure, shirt on or off. But if you are going to go the extra mile to make it cast off, go a little bit further to include some extra parts to complete the look.

My goodness those are a lot of ?s for one post.
1. Kanokon was on the watch list, I liked it.
2. I shot RAW for work and JPG for just stuff
3. everything of mine is backed up to external HD and burned to DVD
4. For folders it's just name of event or object and date taken if it's a repeating event like autocross. Then it's filed accordingly into the folder tree.
5. I'd pass on this figure because of the lame sleaves and the OMG price.
6. Forgot settings for camera. Mostly it's on P sometimes I'll mess around with other settings like when shooting autocross I'll mess around with the shutter speed settings.

I always leave my camera on Av (Canon 400D/Kiss X). I seem to get more 'successful' shots since i do more scenery shots than anything with movement. M is just hell. Don't use it unless you ABSOLUTELY know what you're doing. (i'm still pretty amateur though)

I heard that Canon STILL didn't put the AV+/- button in a better spot on the 450D/Kiss X2, so while in M, you'll still be poking your cheek with your thumb every single time you're changing the F speed.

I suggest you should stick to Av, since you do more 'still' shots for fig shooting.

I use a Nikon D40. If I'm lazy and in a hurry I use the auto setting with no flash. Otherwise I set it to manual. Playing around with the settings is fun ^_^ I also use both RAW and JPEG. If I'm happy with the outcome, I use the JPEG but I still play around with the RAW to get the best pics possible.

...But I always leave the lens at auto-focus. Except for my dad's 20+ year old lens. Kekeke ^^'

i would recommend using the "P" mode. Auto mode is annoying as the flash keeps popping up even though u don't want it.

P mode handles most of the settings but let u control the ISO, flash and white balance which is great for beginners to get the hang of handing a DSLR.

check out this page for more info on how to use the P mode. it's a very good read. ^^;

Very nice looking figure. Too scantily clad for mesa though. Love her pantsu though. And much cute face! Weird that the torso of the shirt of cast off, but the arms don't.

And pretty much all the Koto figures I have don't have shiney hair. My Chie and my Kotomi are just two examples that arn't shiney-headed.

I watched the series and it's true that is full of pantsu and more, but I kinda like it (The poor twins are lovely ^^), but I think the manga's better.

About this figure, I think it's a beautiful one, but besides it's expensive, I don't like the uncastoffable sleeves so I'll pass this time. But you know, there's a version with a red bunny suit that is really hot (I can't remember the maker... sorry).

Greetings.

Superb figurine! Amazing finish and all, though the arms with sleeves I consider a major cock-up. Not my kind of figurine, it's just a half-naked girl and doens't really have anything special.

I think everyone thought the fanservice in Kanokon was excessive. But that's why we kept coming back for more, just to see how far they would push it.

Then Koihime Musou came along and blew it away with 1 scene...

Not a bad chizuru, but not my type of figure so passing over.

I liked Kanokon but felt Chizuru was a bit over the top. Her eyes could see too far and felt it actually detracted from the show. I actually preferred Nozomu way more, and stuck with the show due to her.

But yeah I would not recommend telling other people you watch this show unless they are pretty otakuish.

I use iPhoto for managing my photos. There arent many yet though as I just recently bought my first digital camera, before that I didnt take much photos myself. Havent really paid much attention to what all iPhoto can do but would love to be able to tag photos to be able to find them with search. Atm I just store all photos on their own event, which still works fine as all photos are just from party/holiday etc. Ohh and all photos stored on MacBook and backup on Time Machine drive...

Great fig, but will probably never get it (out of my price range). The show, meh, it was funny at times, but mostly just a huge amount of fanservice, which is needed sometimes to balance out the screwed up psychological anime ;)

My new DSLR camera is the european counterpart of the Kiss X2 (here called the 450D).
I mostly take pictures with the P setting (as the Automatic pulls up the flash way too much). If I need less fuzzy background, I use the Av mode and use a higher F-value. The rest depends on the situation, if it's dark and I like to play with the shutter speed settings in Tv mode.
Now I only need another lens, as I now have the kit lens (18-55mm) with which I can't zoom enough. Want that sigma 18-200mm ;p

I hardly ever use the "predefined" setting on the other half of the knob on top. My previous camera was a Canon Powershot A70, and it had the same mode-knob. Usually used Automatic on that one, as I could disable the flash by hand. There were occasions that I used a different shutter speed.

Pitty of those sleeves, as it is a very nice figure, in both casted-off state and normal state.

Oh, and I used to just make my own folders in form of "YYYY-MM-DD - title". For special occasions with many pictures like holidays, I used "Japan 2007", which then had sub folders in the same manner like "YYYY-MM-DD - city".

But now I'm using iPhoto on my Mac, and I'm quite satisfied about it. Only one thing is that you can't seem to zoom in when in your photo is full screen (with still the sidebar visible). One downside, is that iPhoto is just one big file, and I would use the old system for backup-reasons.

Oh, and I also shoot in jpeg, full res (12mp). No raws.

I wasn't really impressed with Kanokon, like Danny, I thought it had too MUCH fanservice. I also wasn't really impressed with what story there was. I like the figure though, mainly because I did like the character design. As for the photos, I am extremely OCD about this sort of thing so every picture is tagged and organized by year and then month and then the event. Vista's tag system is actually really helpful. Not too sure what Macs have.

Very nice figure. Beautiful pose, cast-on and cast-off. Nice detail on her delicacies and a stunning body to boot.

I agree on the sleeved arms. It's very strange for them not to include sleeveless ones on a castoff. She looks extremely good on the cast-off.

For pictures it's almost always A - aperture priority so I can control the depth of field. I use a tripod so shutter speed is irrelevant for a still life. If I eventually get a light meter, I'll got to full manual and key the exposure in from the meter.

Same as Danny. Watched the first post, "postponed" it due to too much ecchiness. Because I never drop animes, I only "postpone" them. :P
But the twin nude lolis really got my attention. :P

Yep, also don't like glossy hair. Goodsmile seems to be the one getting hairs nicely... not only they are not glossy, but they have some paint treatment (fading) that makes it look better than average.

No RAW pics for me too. Usually, I don't even use full resolution on my pics... my cam has 5Mpx, but I usually take 3Mpx pics.

Unless I really need high resolution, which doesn't happen much.

Since I'm taking all my pics nowadays with my cellphone, no Manual mode. But my first digi cam was semi-pro (manual focus, aperture and.. forgot the name). A 6Mpx Fujifilm. Back them, I took pics only in Manual mode, mainly because the automatic mode was crap.

I don't sort pics a lot. My desktop is for stuff "I still have to publish" and then I have an Images folder for all things already published. Inside, a subfolder called "Cellphone" which have all pics I took with my cellphone.
Sometimes I create a folder with the date I took the pics out of the cellphone just to keep track.

Kanokon was boring for me, and none of the characters ever engaged me. I treated it as softcore health care material (that is, expecting ridiculous plot points and useless fanservice) and managed to watch the rest of it.

Shiny hair bugs me as well - which is why transparent hair like GSC's Shana is doubly annoying for me. I remember one of the reasons I used to dismiss figures was that they looked cheap with shiny hair. Not any more, but my annoyance stands.

Kanokon may well be fan service for fan service's sake, but I quite frankly think it kicked Eiken's ass. That was too painful to watch.

I like Chizuru's body, but her personality is terrible. Conversely, I hate Nozomu's body (too loli for my blood), but I love her character - she comes across as the love-child of Lala-Ru and Glenn Quagmire. And Rollzomu FTW. I so want a GIF of that...

RAW is great if you're going to edit the photo, since each channel is captured in greater resolution (typically 12- or 14-bit). Lightroom and Aperture can make use of the extra information to make more natural edits. If you have everything set up for a perfect first shot, you can stick with fine JPEG.

But yeah, Kanokon just seems..."saturated".

that was a stupid design. if i was to ever make one, i would NEVER make the sleeves the way they did. the glossiness is fine as long as they focus it on the good parts. otherwise, she is a very pretty doll, and she's cute too!
