Started to panic after seeing reviews of this Queens Gate Alice figure over at FooBarBaz and Happy Soda. I didnt pre-order and by the time I started to look for her, she had sold out on all online Japanese stores...
Luckily comrades at Benippon had one left in stock. When there is a will, there is a way ^^
This figure is just incredible. The maker is Alpha Omega and is distributed by Mega House who I was very surprised to hear is owned by Bandai.
Never did have a fetish for girls with tails but been watching anime long enough for it to become an acquired taste.
Love how one side of her pantsu is in need of adjustment.
The paint work s just incredible.
Attention to detail is awesome too. Hats off to the folks who handled production and quality control.
You can see some of Alice in action over at Moe Imouto.
If you have a review of Alice too, feel free to leave a link in the comments to share.
One of my fave shots. Added to the Wallpaper pool.
Check the details on her guns.
Its cast off time. The censor function has not been automated so if you don't like looking at bare naked eyes then please turn away.
And a quick mini Figma Theater.
Spinzaku and Lulu have been working with a few girls on thier AV videos.
Today's girl is Alice.
Lulu cant resist anymore and reaches out while filming. He tries to use the Geass on himself - "Do not want!" he says but its already too late.
Spinzaku: "How many times have I told you not to touch the goods while filming?"
The end.
Alice has moved up being my second fave figure - Fauna still at the number one spot. Her genki pose and smile is just gorgeous.
Kureha is third place. Her innocent soothing expression is breathtaking.
The Freeing Asakura has appeared in my top 10 fave - more pics of her at the official Good Smile site in Danny's Corner.

Your fave figure is which and why?
Was trigger happy so thought I'd throw in some more pics - this one of Good Smile Lala.
Caption that photo.
Nanoha and Erika on the Mac display.
Kanu looks like shes looking for something.

As expected, this has to be one of the best figures I've seen this year. Since I was late on the pre-order of her, I had to wait for her US release. I can't wait wait until she is shipped out.

I've said in the past here on DC, that in my opinion the most important thing to get right on a figure, is the character's eyes. If you can't get the eyes right, it just doesn't look like the character at all. Good example would be Bandai's PVC of Kallen in her bunny suit. It doesn't look like Kallen at all to me.

Thanks for the great pictures Danny, it only makes the countdown wait until I get her even worse! I'm glad I was able to find a pre-order for her and get in on time.

When you say "US release" what do you mean? Are these figures being officially distributed in the US too?

I'm not positive if the are being officially distributed but we usually have the figures for sale here a few months after they are released in Japan.

No, no official release. Practically no figures get any sort of release in the US, like everywhere else.

Well, the distributors here in the US also have accounts with various figure manufacturers in Japan, however the trade off is that we usually have to wait about 1-4 months after Japanese release before they get it here.

Many anime/figure retailers here have Alice up for pre-order right now, a few are already closed on reservation. Some figures actually end up being significantly cheaper here as well. One manufacturer in particular is Kotobukiya. Where a figure of theirs may cost 55 USD in Japanese currency in Japan, will cost about 15-20 dollars less here while still retaining the quality of the figure.

As for the wording of "officially" I'm not sure on how to go about answering that.

Guessing the layman's definition of "official" release in this case would be a rebranded product, i.e., packaging in English, price in $, instead of just an imported boxed figure with a $USD price tag stuck on it.

Then I would say no it's not official. The boxes are in full Japanese (unless the box was originally having something in english on it). xD

AAAnime is going to release Alice in December
http://www.aaaanime.com/item/Figures/603259000250.html

The site is retailers only and is a distributor of several brands. A few times I saw boxes full Japanese coming with AAAnime stickers on it.

They're being imported, but almost always by a single company who then sells them to retailers. The most common importer seems to be AAA Anime. However, they definitely choose the cheapest bulk shipping, meaning it literally takes months after the Japanese release before they arrive here. And it's weird about the prices, too: some end up being cheaper in the US, some end up being just about the same, and some end up quite a bit more expensive than the Japanese price. It helps to shop around.

I'm not a big fan of AAAAnime because of those stupid stickers they put on the boxes, I have to remove them and then clean off the grime the stickers leave behind.

Thought you liking Strike Witches so much would've upped your taste for tail-ed girls, Danny ^_^

Very nice looking figure, rear end is lovely, although the point where the tail connects just seems aa bit weird for me, would've thought it'd be lower and closer to the pantsu (remark on the character design, not the figure of course)

Very nice photos. She's quite a figure.

My favorite is Tsuzuri by Alter (HobbyStock Exclusive). She works just about everywhere you display her. I like her better with the maid outfit on but the detail on the underwear lacing warrants a lot of notice as well.

Running second would either be Kos-Mos EPIII VerIV by Alter or Kagami Hiiragi (Comptiq Version) Nendoroid by GSC.

Dammit Danny, now I'm sorely tempted to buy her. I just saw two boxes of her at a figurine shop yesterday for USD58, and I want to get her so badly. But I'm going to Japan in a couple days time! What should I do? Try to find in Japan, or buy now?

BUY NOW! The price in Japan will be roughly the same. Mine says 5180 yen on the box So roughly 51.80 USD.

However, you WILL NOT find this figure in retailers in Japan. It is already super rare. Save yourself the grief and just spend those extra 6 bucks, c'mon man! If you don't you'll regret it.

A beautiful figure indeed. Didn't pre-order her, Alter Hayate is eating up pretty much all of my figure budget for the rest of this year. :)

My favourite figure is Max Factory's Shana, with Alter's Reinforce Zwei being close second and Fauna taking the bronze medal. :)

I have both Max Factory Shana and the Queen's Gate Alice. These two figures stand head and shoulders in quality above the rest of my collection, so much so that they stand out significantly on the shelf.

Sadly, my Queen's Gate Alice is slightly defective in that I cannot close her vest thing properly. The holes on the costume are too small to fit the little tabs that stick out to secure it.

For my favorite figure, I'd have to say it's the Shana one (just because it's Shana <3).

what you gotta do is to take her vest off and close it there. It'll open up the holes for the pegs and they should snap right in. They're not to small, they just need to be cleared out a little. Then when the vest is back on her, shuffle it down as far towards her pantsu as possible, and squeeze tight lol.

I had a hell of a time getting her vest snapped up too lol.

I had the same problem as yours, I just use a very sharp pencil and made the hole a little bigger so the thing could fit in at ease.

Not to mention I broke the circular hole thingy on her vest by accident -_-

Yeah you really have to see hundreds of photos to get a good idea if you ask me. I've checked out Happysoda, and Foo on this figure before ordering. Danny's picture also showed stuff I had not seen from the others, like the detail of her guns.

She arrived awhile later and I'm in love with her ~ so glad I grabbed at that opportunity ^.^

Was gonna pre-order her from there, but I didn't like how they make you give them your birthdate. Seems a bit odd for an online store to ask for that. Kinda wish I did it though, then I'd have it right now.

while thats true, I don't see a reason for any online store needing that information. Some have suggested they do it for the "18+" items. However, even then most sites don't ask for it, and consider the fact that you having a credit card is enough proof. Here in the US, you have to be 18 or older for a credit card.
