Haha, So it was CNN Danny. Quite the accomplishment. I knew about your Dad being Jimmy Choo for quite some time now, just never really thought much about it. After all I'm not really into Women's shoes. ^^; Congrats on the success you made so far, and here's hoping to more continued success. I know you said you had a bit of a rough time growing up, but it seems that luck has been going good for you and your family! I look forward to watching Dannychoo.com grow with you! Heres to many more Panchira shots in the future! Cheers!
Yay more Panchiro shots!
I propose bandaid be given his own corner "bandaid's panchira corner" :D
Congratulations again Danny, thought your first CNN appearance was big, but this one takes the cake. ^^ always thought it was great how you remained self effacing even amidst all your achievements. hope Mirai inc get more business from the CNN article. ^^ With regards to the question I think I’ve been around since 2005. The PG Strike Gundam days, hard to check via comments since I started out as a lurker. Lol Btw I like the tie on the stormtrooper armour, have you tried wearing that during formal events? ^^
What can I say D? You're the king... of geeks, LoL (CNN's words, not mine). From one lone voice across the sea it may not mean much, but I'm proud of ya buddy. Hope this extra exposure brings even more opportunities your way. Good to see daddy choo is happy for his son. Our boy is all grown up... *punches Danny in the arm* OK, enough of that, get back to work! Hail to the king, baby! - Ash (Army of Darkness)
Danny has a son! @.@ just teasing FatB. ^^
Yeah, didn't you know? Name's Diddy Choo
lol!
Way to go Danny!! XD
I love how you're always beaming happily in most of your pictures ^O^ Very proud of your achievements so far and thank you for being our inspiration and role model :)
sort of like an inverted stormtrooper mouth vent eh? ^^
Whoa... dude! CNN?! That's totally awesome! And thus now it's official rather than the cameo during the iPhone release eh? (Sorry I'm Canadian and put this in my grammar) That's really cool. Plus didn't know your father was a shoe designer too. That's really awesome!
Banzai!! :D
Mr. Choo! You give away too many secrets to your success!!!
Respect Danny, massive respect for what you've done.
Congrats Danny!! CNN huh? that's a really big accomplishment right there. Wonder what next show will Danny be in? For the question, been a steady reader ever since late 2006.
okay...so your dad is THE Jimmy Choo! Congrats, man! He made our country proud, and now you have made your name as well! You have fulfilled your wish and you're happy about it! How I wish I want to be as successful as you. I'll look up to you as a role model that is successful outside in Japan. Maybe my future kids can write about you! ^^ Good luck on your future success, Danny! Hopefully, I get to meet you in person as well! ^^
As I have always suspected, you're are no normal geek, this CNN feature just confirms it. >_< You are deserving of the monkier the "King of the Geeks". (That's a compliment)
good job Danny....
Congratulations to you Danny! I saw this earlier after watching the "net room" clip on cnn.com, and was like, "Dancing stormtrooper? ...OMG Danny's on CNN again!?" Hope this coverage brings lots of good fortune your way. :D Despite my account's registered date, I started becoming a regular reader around late August 2007. I'm not sure why it took me so long to sign up. ^^; Come to think of it, didn't you mention here that your parents didn't know about your figure hobby?: http://www.dannychoo.com/detail/mac/eng/image/5917/Parents,+Partners+and+your+Figures.html Do they know now after all this coverage? :P
I think my dad only recently knew ^^;
Wow only recently?? You hide it well XD Gratz on the CNN report. And we get to hear your voice too, not just the text behind Mirai :D
I chance upon that video the same way and looking at the photos I realised it might be really strange for CNN viewers to see so many female anime figures; even on the sewing machine. For non-readers of this site might think they belongs to either Danny's daughter or girlfriend(not wife, dun ask me why). I must say, I've never been a fan of those type of figures before too, until now... Danny has made me want to get some Good Smile products too.
another EPIC win for Danny the world still stands in awe because of you
I never put two and two together about your name and your famous father's name...I guess I assumed "Danny Choo" was an alias, since what led me here was videos of you dancing as a stormtrooper. I just figured you went to great lengths to conceal your identity. Congratulations on the CNN piece and the boost of traffic/readership that will bring. I sincerely hope I will someday manage to run into you dancing on the streets of Tokyo. Better yet, take the show on the road and dance in Kansai sometime!
Alright! CNN! Danny's the man~
I've finally found my idol. :)
Heheh. I think I might have too.
Wow. Congratulations on the CNN coverage, Danny. Next stop, BBC, perhaps?
Haha. Yeah, wanted to say that too. Or maybe better.. CNBC, Bloomberg for Mirai Inc. or Time's Top 100!!
and tomorrow, the world!!
level up! congrats!
I've been reading for a while here now. It wasn't only until recently when I decided to register as a User. I miss your gunpla reviews Danny! But nonetheless, cheers to you and more power. GANBARRE!!
I've recently told my friend that I think I'm hanging around DannyChoo.com more often than facebook XD Glad to see more coverage and maybe more people discovering this great site :D
This morning went on cnn.com to watch "Now In The News" as I do almost every morning, and to my surprise, Danny was on CNN again. Way to go, congratulations Danny! Hope you get a traffic boost from this, you deserve it:)
Cool about the CNN coverage. I've been around for about a year (give or take, I forget exactly I started lurking before posting). Now all that's left is to appear on Fox without being edited to look demented.
Wow that is quite awesome Danny. It's getting bigger and bigger for you. And I wish you the best. Keep doing what you're doing!!!
You are seriously my hero dude. I check your site every day for updates and have been a reader for a year despite my join date.
Yeah, I remember reading a few articles about 2 years ago. I remember thinking "this dude needs to do some stretches so he can kick with a straight leg" for one of the videos XD. But only registered a year ago. It's amazing how the site has grown~ I wonder if you ever get tired of being in your dad's shadow from time to time.
Good stuff Danny! It's always nice to see good things happen to good people.
Cool been on the CNN agaaaaain!!!! CONGRATULATIONS. You are the best.
CHEERS DANNY! That's really awesome! Everyone better recognized! For awhile now, I've been proudly telling my non-otaku friends that you've been very positively influential to me in life the past year. They don't understand it and just judge this site on the surface but that's fine... they're missing out! Though I signed up just last October, I've actually been coming to this site for some two years now. Ganbatte Danny! Your site! Your work! Your accomplishments! Your passion! Your soul!... will all pierce the heaven! ^_^b
おめでとう! ^_^ Good to see you getting some more coverage on CNN. Looking forward to the next piece on AoTS. Stay happy, and don't work too hard. ^^
Very nice video, both father and son are popular in their region :) Congratulation on this great achievement and can't wait for the G4TV segment coming soon as well~
Very cool danny! Just curious what made them interested in your site in the first place?
Wow that's some sweet news Danny, nice work. I'll check the video when I get back from classes today ^^
Kudos, Danny. You are now the greatest Stormtrooper EVER. Lord Vader would be proud.
Congratulations, Danny ! It's a really big accomplishment to become the King of... Geeks :P I have a massive respect for you. All hail Danny !
Congratulation once again & for endless times for your proudful accomplishments. This CNN report is the most profiled review of the honorable Danny Choo. I can foresee Danny appear on Time Magazine in the very near future ^_^ For readers that realized Danny's success till date was never rely on his father financial support & had chosen to achieve everything all by himself & within his own strength, this is what makes Danny Choo highly remarkable. It is our utmost pleasure seeing DC.com growth since we arrived to this wonderful community ;-) OMFG, I can't believe I'm dropping tears now, I'm really happy for you Danny.
LOL at Jimmy Choo's comment over Danny: "He's crazy about Star Wars, He love Star Wars. So I don't realize when he get older & bigger he will be dressing up like one of them, hehehehe". Ahh, now I recall how's Dato Jimmy Choo sounds, truly Malaysian chinese, hope to meet your dad again when he's back to Malaysia.
All hail to the King of Geeks!!!!!!!! m(_ _)m
おめでと!!! Hey Danny Akiraman here, glad to see the site is getting much more publicity through CNN. Glad you are happy at what you are doing, quite an inspiration for having been following the site for the last 3 years!! All the best in your future endeavors.
Heya Danny :D Grats on the CNN report....big accomplishment for a world wide media show to do a segment on you. I been a reader for a while too, about the same length as Marvin (not sure how long that is....but also around the PG Strike era) I visit your page EVERY DAY, and there's Always something interesting going on in the land of Danny :D Keep it up
OMG! I JUST saw that report on TV a couple hours ago while I was eating dinner. I totally freaked out when I saw it, and my sister was like "Uh...whoa, he's the son of Jimmy Choo?!". It was actually the reason why I decided to finally registered on the site after lurking for a few years. I figured no one else had mentioned it and I'd try and get to the cake first, but lo and behold, I can't upload anything because I haven't been registered long enough and don't have enough comment posts. XD Anyway, congrats! I thought that was totally awesome and was an absolute surprise to see while at the dinner table!
Congrats to you. I have been here since December, always on the page everyday. Your the inspiration for me to start my own blog and to start to go into a better tomorrow. Seems mushy, but right next my teachers, your one of my role models. To go to Japan and to just live. I thank you for this little part. To go on to tomorrow. I will go to Japan to work someday in the field as a teacher/researcher. I love that segment from CNN. It brings out the most interesting pieces of life. My parents will see that, definitely. Many more years and many more articles about the life and times of us.
As always Danny, looking sharp and professional out there...it's been over a year since I started reading this blog...got hooked on is every since...Keep up the good work Danny!
So it was CNN, eh! Congrats, Danny. That looks like an amazing CNN report. Unfortunately I would've loved to see that on TV but I guess I missed it, haha! I like how they referred to you as the 'KING OF GEEKS'. LOL! So many achievements there, I'm quite happy for you. :) And thanks for being our inspiration and role model.
man i was just flipping around the channels eating coco-puffs and then came to CNN! i almost choke on the stuff while screaming ''ZOMFGBBQSAUCE its Danny!!''
We can all learn from Danny! Alot of people say take as much help as you can from people around you. We can clearly see, you don't always have to, to be sucessful.
Congrats, Danny Choo I. King of the Geeks! Just hearing the pages-views & usernumber makes me go *wohoo* everytime. I wonder if there are lots of new memebers now ^_^ I'm around here since ~one and a half year, registered since May '08 and DC is the startpage of my first "Start-tab".
Good for you Danny! your my new found hero. :D
Well done, Danny! It's a big accomplishment!!! Hope that u can continue to let the world knows more about the otaku culture.
Currently taking a break from DC as I spend most of my time outside or in the city since I came to NZ, nice to see you going on as always :D Feel a lot better here compared to Germany, am sure it stays like that !
I've not been reading long, only about 3 or 4 months but I've loved coming to the site. Sometimes if I want to check the site before heading off to bed I'll spend a lot more time than I wanted checking through the Previoud articles and articles being read now at the bottom of the page. I wanted to see your dad's shop when I was down in London in July but I didn't have the time.
Wow, what a milestone Danny. That's quite excellent, and I think we're all proud of you. ^^ I see this site growing a whole lot in the very near future, and I'm glad to be a part of the community.
hmmm I started lurking here since i think as early as 2004 when everyone still had those super robot and gundam avatars, but of course i didnt really register until later on. I still remember i found this site when i was searching for gundam news on google and since then i was hooked Lol. I guess its because it was my first time being exposed to a blog like this where it not only covers anime/manga otaku culture but also other interesting aspects of japan. Looking back it never ceases to amaze me in how much you much you have accomplished over the years with the site and your career as a whole. Like most users here. you're truly our idol and hope we really do see you on Time magazine in the future. Keep up the good work danny and FIGHT OH! =p
You're my hero. That is all ^_^
I'm a long time lurker around dc.com. i've been here since dec06-jan07, so i'd say 1-2 years really, but i didn't sign up until early this year. I still remember being bored on sunday arvo's and backtracking all of dannys posts till the beginning. Boy, you were posting no more than 2-3 times a week! Great to see your site grow through these years! Did you celebrate the moon festival last week?
whoops, make that dec05 ^^;....... that's when i remember i started to get serious into anime (and stumbled onto dc.com) dec06 was when i was getting serious into manga aaahhhh, it's all coming back to me now... *remenisces*
Congratulations to you danny!!! though i dont talk much in here, but am still proud to be one of the members of DC.com!!! more success for u to come!!! ^_^
Congrats Danny. And talking about how long I've been reading your blog... Well.. It started on 2005 which inspired me to do my own webpage in 2006. This is all thanks to you. Keep it up! ^_'
haha! That's very cool. Saw the puchi blurb saying you were on CNN and I was like huh? Checked CNN channel but it was showing some other thing, and ended up youtubing it. Should have known to check CNN.com first! congrats on everything man. Checking Dannychoo.com didn't become a daily thing for me for a long time since I joined. Checked daily when I first discovered the site, then it tapered off for a number of months and only checked a few times every couple weeks... Now I'm back to checking it daily though after having narrowly missed the opportunity to work with you and gsc on the translations >< Now I keep my eyes peeled everyday for any other opportunities lol. In the meantime, still searching for my passion ><
oh ya just like samejima above, I too was inspired to start up my blog after having read through your article on blog monetization ^^; Though that hasn't really worked out for me, it does feel nice to have people tell me that I've done a nice job on some of my posts, no matter how few the people lol :P
congrats danny! That was a great video! Looking forward to the next ones ^^
So has a studio tried to purchase your story yet? Seems like something hollyweird would try to do. Anyways, congrates on the CNN coverage that's pretty big really.
Congrats Danny! you're da man.
Can't tell what that brown icon is at all... Mind uploading a higher res pic so I can take a guess at it? Guess what things are hidden in Danny's pictures makes my life worthwhile~
Nice job Danny ^_^ glad everything has worked out for you so far. Seems like only yesterday i stumbled across DannyChoo while trying to find somewhere to ease the bordem of university, now your my first check of the day... Gotta tell my 2 female friends doing the fashion course too there gonna think i'm crazy :D.
Congrats Danny!
Oh wow!!! I'm not a frequenter at any news site, so I was totally unaware of this, but thats so cool!!!! And we(the dc.com-goers) pay for your mortgage?? lol Weird... Very cool vid. Saved!!
Funny how the overuse the word 'geek'
Congratulations Danny! You always prove that there is nothing impossible in life. Even though I have only signed up a few days ago, I've been reading your articles and news for a long time. I wish you more success in the future. ^^
I caught this on japanprobe before i flew over here :D Congratulations with getting on CNN, that's quite a milestone to achieve and it was very interesting to watch :)
Never knew your dad was the Jimmy Choo, I learn something new everyday lol But congrats on the CNN thing Danny, you do give hope to folks like me as you are living your dream out in life. Kickass site too, the amount of times im saying stuff to my family like 'Oh yeah on Dannychoo.com I saw...' or 'Danny recently talked about...' (You get the picture lol, I must really annoy them with all the Danny Choo goodness!) yours is the website I can just lose myself in it for hours when I check it everyday, and theres no other website that really captivates me like yours does. *2 Thumbs up*
Danny on CNN ^.^ . You're my Hero, no wait you're rather the Hero of us Otaku's ^.^ . I do visit Dannychoo.com daily , I started of when my gundam fever was on , so it was like 2-3 years i think ,but still i only registered recently ^.^
GOGOGO Danny the stormtrooper! ^^ I really feel that Danny works hard for who he is now and I think I heard of Danny Choo before Jimmy Choo (oh my I am like a dango in the package) ^^;
Wow nice!! Congrats Danny!! ^^
nice.. this is a huge leap in the growth of dannychoo.com i'll be sticking around until i see the day danny choo rules the world =O
Congratulations Danny! This is a pretty big accomplishment, with hopefully even more progress to follow ^^
LOL, maybe I should start my own version of the Trooper Dance. Man your now famous worldwide. ^_^
If you weren't married, I imagine a lot of women would be super interested to date you coz of your dancing skills and designer shoe-making knowledge =)
My little Danny is all grown up. 。・゚・(ノД`)・゚・。
Congratulations, Danny-san! Your wonderful achievements and hard-wroking attititude has inspired us all and may you grow from strength to strength m(_ _)m I know that I've learned a lot from your site and being surrounded by all the members. My mother, who happens to like anime as well, also thinks highly of you ^^
Just rolled out some changes - test post desu.
Changes were mainly made to the article detail page. Some files did not roll out properly and I'm not sure which ones orz.
I lost the entire left column and everything is left justified. In fact here is a current screen image. http://www.flickr.com/photos/44902111@N00/2858800431/
Thanks for the screenshot - thats how it should be looking like now - collecting feedback in the post I just made in the news items.
Yeah, I just noticed the news post after posting that.
Man alive, Danny. CNN featured video ! @_@ They need to make a Wii game now, Danny Choo smooth moves. :3
King of geeks!!!
CNN did a marvelous job, enjoyed every minute of it. ^_^
wow!Danny you're becoming a star now!Might you see you on the red carpet next time!Congratulations on your acomplishment! Will support you forever!LUV THIS SITE! =3
I didn't actually realize who Jimmy Choo was, until woman's shoe designer was mentioned. Congrats on the CNN interview once again Danny, I, as well as many I am sure, are very proud of your success, you are and always will be a great role model. Looking forward to sharing many successes throughout the years!:D And I will say this once again Danny~ YOU ROCK THE ANIME WORLD! AND MINE!:D Very much looking forward to meeting you someday!:D
I've been reading you site for a few months now, and this motivated me in to finally getting an account for some reason! just wanted to say thanks for all your hard work and grats on the cnn video :)
Wow Mr Danny! You got featured on CNN! That's some accomplishment there. Maybe this interview by CNN would make more people like Japanese stuff like anime, manga, gunpla and/or figures XD
Heh, oddly enough I found the video first on the CNN site... as a link off another story posted here. Weired though, 'cause it's the first time I've ever been to the CNN site. On that note: I got no idea how long I've been reading here. Wild guess would be somewhere between 6 and 12 months though... as I remember getting distracted by the site in my last major assignment block ^^;
GROOVY WAY TO ROCK THE HOUSE DANNY~!!!! congrats on your achievements ^^ BANZAI!
congrats!! was lurking around on the site a few months before becoming a member. must be about a year and a half. The brown icon loks like an eye but could be something else. i'm sure i saw it here on dc.com but dont remember. looks like a face of some animal actually from faroff.
danny congrats on the media coverage. you really deserve it. and keep on trooping
AH hah so it was CNN! *runs around hopping mad. well yea i knew about the jimmy choo connection a few months back when i saw your entry on wikipedia. not that it bothered me, since i had no idea who your dad was to being with...hurhur either way, labelling you as the king of geeks is almost an insult. You are way beyond a geek danny. No geek would even dare to venture beyond his comfort zone and set out to accomplish the stuff you have, much less dress up as a trooper and parade around shibuya.. ok scratch the last point, way too many geeks do that all the time. First the internet, now CNN next the UNIVERSE! (sorry just had to say that ^^)
Heye grats, again! Funny to see how your dad commented that about you lols. I've probably been following this site for two years or so - what I like about the site is the constant updates + varieties of info, news, photos about Japan, anime, figurines & etc. Keep up the good work. =)
Lol, post waaaay at the bottom. Congrats Danny on you accomplishment of becoming world renown. Recently watched the video and was glad it you were presented so well. Keep up the good work and Happy to have found your site a mere 4 months ago. Wow, seems like a lot longer.
Woooo Respects for you friend Awesome !! m(_ _)m
Congrats on being featured on CNN~!! ^o^/ Wow, never made the connection... Jimmy Choo and Danny Choo. Cool XD I'm not into shoes (despite being a girl) so I never thought about it. Hehe ^_^;
ah, crappy "post coment" option, it superposes with the links of the bottom x'd Congrats Danny, y really dont know that about your father o.o If you wont be a figure fan, you'd choose shoe design? o.o I don't imagine xd nice article, the visits to your site may be explode
WHOOOAAAAA! Go Danny! I can see it now: ""Danny Choo: Man of the Year". If they call you King of the geeks, then I'm proud to be one of your geeky followers. Thanks so very much for the inspiration Danny! There really is a way to make the things you enjoy pave the way towards your success. You deserve all of what you enjoy today because of your hard work. I can tell that your future children will be very proud of you. Mirai and Haruka will probably feel the same if they were real ^^ Godspeed Danny! Good luck! And regarding the question, I accidentally knew about DC around 2005, and I've been visiting it randomly until I have decided to sign up just a few months ago.
Congratulations on the feature! You get what you deserve, so I'm sure this is just a small piece of many great things heading your way for all your hard work of "making people happy". ^^
Congratulations! I bet lots of people want to be just like you, I'm one of them. XD Oh btw, there seems to be something wrong with the bottom page of this article's section. Screeny here http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v491/Maps_01/SShot.jpg
Wow, Danny on CNN. That's quite an achievement! What's your next goal? Being on the front page of a Time magazine issue? :) I have been visiting this site for about 10-12 months. To be honest, I have never heard of Jimmy Choo before watching this video! ^_^''
Congrats Danny!!! you really get very far! i hope you keep that pace! maybe you can start to take some autographs in the events! its will be really a great honor to meet you in person someday! Congratulations again!
Woah, this is incredible. On CNN as well. I am a little shell shocked XD
Congratulations is in order, omedetou gozaimasu. Always follow your passions no matter where it leads you. It is what I believe. Since I am in between jobs I have been a regular viewer of your site. I finally registered as a user back in August 2008. I can not remember when I first encountered your site. It must have been more that four years. I stated self studying Japanese back in 2003. Did your site exist back then? Every now and then I ran into your site during my searches of Japanese language and culture. Back then, I never bookmarked your site since I kept my distance from anime to a minimum. I knew it would be an addiction that would spread to collecting anime figures. I have done the beanie babies, Star Wars EP1 figures, and now comes the anime figs. There is a certain enjoyment having Figma, Nendoroid, and etc. All it matters that it places a smile on my face.
Congrats on the CNN cover danny, I am at a school computer right now so I cant view your video without bothering 20 people around me but I will definitely give it a watch once I am home. It is great that you did what you did on your own and not relying on your father, that is something to admire. To be perfectly honest I had no idea who Jimmy Choo was (I am a guy...not into women shoes...unlike some guys). I recently read up about him though because of an article from Mimi's blog. Again congrats man.
Holy snaps, congratulations Danny, another great CNN feature. You do the otaku community proud. Hope for the best for you! Keep up the great work as always. As for my reading status, I lurked for like 6 months prior to my registration. I did take a break from logging in and commenting but I would still visit via rss feeds over 9,000 times daily. Your site is my main anime/figure/Japan/culture/everything/news site lol.
isn't geeks a harsh word to use? aren't there better words that the reporter could have used to describe us... Regardless, nice job Danny, you are one more step ahead to rule the world.
Go Danny!! Congrats!!!i think u represent us all here!!
Congrats Danny for being featured on CNN... Again!! ^^ I really look up towards you and your story of your success. The whole DannyChoo.com experience has been great so far =) Have been a reader for almost a year+. Me thinks it was back in Aug-Sept 07. Anyways, the CNN site doesn't seem to be loading for me now =(. Dunno whether its my internet connection or their server going bonkers due to the massive traffic ^_^
Grats Danny! You da' man.
Whoa, this new layout is gorgeous! Very nice. *resists urge to view source code* CNN, wow. I watched this last night after that underemployment article you linked. Very cool. And just to prove I'm a nerd, I think this: "Jimmy Choo is Danny Choo's dad!" rather than the other way around. XD
Finally can comment. Nice post Danny! And I love the "Hmmm" "Mmmm" part in the video. As for how long I've been visiting here... I guess almost 2 years, since I already lurked here before registering.
Nice boss danny!!! It was so great that you been news in a world most newsmaker in the world in CNN.It is very inspired to you but i am not interested about kind of girlie shoes. ALL HAIL DANNY,ALL HAIL DANNY,ALL HAIL DANNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks all for the kind words ^o^
cool danny...you featured on CNN.. so when are you going to take over the world? LOL good luck man...
haha, Nice. cant wait to see a follow-up to that report. ^^
You are now spreading your wings! Hail to the King! And also Im looking forward to the follow-up of that report. ^^
Haha, simply awesome. Ever since I found your site in '06, I've seen u clawing and climbing up your own unique path. And u'r still dancing on it! Congrats. ^_^ P.S. Maybe it's time to polish up your Wiki article, haha. ^A^
Done. Unofficial Wiki article updated. ^_^; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:DOSGuy/Danny_Choo
Congratulations Danny, one step closer to world domination (evil laugh), right?
Wow! You've come so far Danny ^___^ I've been visiting for more than 3 years now and I've seen the progress of this site and I'm proud to be part of it ^____^ Congrats and we're here to support you all the way ^^
All I can say really is congrats Danny ^ ^ Never realised your dad was so famous. Even with his own Wikipedia entry. And I found it interesting hearing that, your so sucessful now, and you didn't even ask for a dime. Inspiring XD Good work :D
Very nice Danny ;p I think this was the same reporter that did the english interview of Ayumi Hamasaki for CNN. I think I recognize the voice.
Seems like your accent is starting to fade even more. Grats on making CNN. Looks like their are going to be more people hanging around. Grats
Congrats ^^ danny you the king of the geeks lol ^^ but dang CNN ^^ thats cool ^^ danny taking over the tv lol ^^
Danny, you're a big guy. I think people like you an Hector (Kirai) are really good models to imitate. In fact, I would really like to follow your footsteps and go to Japan and live there :3~~ I think it's har to live there being a vet, but a man without dreams isn't a man :3~~ About the poll, I'm a reader since a pair of years ago, but I registered not much time ago. I don't comment as often as I could, but i keep reading every article ^^
Mannnnn. I decided to forgo my usual morning DC-check since I was in a rush, and I miss something this big. Figures. ^^; Already a bit late, but congrats, Danny. Can't believe you were able to keep this under wraps 'til now. And now I feel special. In the future I can proclaim to other people: "I was reading before Danny made CNN!" It shall be a badge of honour.
:O CNN, thats huge. congratz. i'm looking forward to the AOTS ep.
Omedetou Gozaimashita Danny-san!!! Continue to accomplish your dreams!! You're inspiring and a source of motivation for me. I've been coming to dannychoo.com since 2005 and finally got to go see Japan this year. It was amazing.Tottemo sugoi deshita!! Even thought I was alone.(I think it's better thins way) Now I wanna go work and live there!! Keep up the good work Danny-san!! Nippon Banzai!!!
Congrats! It's good to see that your hard work is being payed off and respected
All the best Danny! You're a hero to us all.
*Takes a break from quest* Glad to see you getting all the recognition Danny. Glad to see your dad understands your direction in life. I wish I could say the same for my dad. I may sound like I'm complaining a lot lately, but I'm happy as always to see you get recognition for hard work. I started reading and visiting before I left Florida so it has been almost 4 and a half years here enjoying the ride, having fun and reminding myself of where I need to be. Always glad to see you are having fun too! Don't get too comfortable my friend, for some of us are on our way to challenge the king! Well at least share in the fun... ^o^ See everyone on the other side...
I should add... My mom is very impresses with you and what you have done so far in life. She wanted me to tell you. ^^
Rats, that should be *impressed*. Try to do too much at once...
dammit danny, stop being my hero!
Nice CNN article Danny! Haveing seen this, what's especially noteworthy I think in light of your articles that motive and spurr people on to make something of their life by doing something they're passionate about yet also with the wisdom to try and seek sufficient financial strength by doing what you like is that it seems you could have taken an 'easier' or more guided approach with more backing by walking in your father's footsteps or use his support. But if as you say you arrived where you are today by your own strength and on your own two feet that's certainly inspirational. ^^
My ex loves your dad's creations!
Mr. King of the Geeks! Congratulations! xD (I hope I'm still not too late for giving words of appreciation^^). Another big achievement! And more achievements to come! And also thank you for being an inspiration for us dreamers and otakus. ^^
Whoahh! CNN did an article on Dannychoo and his site? Way to go Danny! Your accomplishments are most impressive.
Hey, congratulations! It's not just that you made it, but you did it through perseverance and honest effort that makes your story such a great one. When you tell people about self-improvement, you speak from experience, and it's always a privilege to read.
This is worlds of awesome, congrats Danny! ^-^
Big Congrats Danny! Awesome Stuff.
Ja,ja,ja, now you are a TV star, Danny? I`m happy for you, the fact that the CNN interview you is impressive! You are doing amaizing feats, man, keep doing it!!
Son of Jimmy Choo!
Danny, I'm really glad to see you prove to the world that nerd culture is not necessarily unprofessional!!! The fact that CNN (who is usually more concerned about international disaster than anything entertaining) took the time to do this piece on your lifestyle and accomplishments really brought a smile to my day. Thanks for the hard work and dedication to your passions, I know all of us readers really appreciate having something fun and dynamic to look forward to reading each day.
Congratulations Danny! I would have missed this if you wouldnt have posted this.Ive been a reader around Summer 07 and registered way later to comment and share the fun. So what comes after CNN? ^_^
Congrates on making on to CNN!!!!! You inspire all otakus everywhere!!!!!!! Be waiting on what you have coming in the future!!!
awesome danny! congratulations! I won't be surprised if you get your own TV show sometime soon! we're all rooting for you xD
omfg gratz wwwwwww lol i wish i can be on CNN too..
Congrats! Now I want to see this on TV... I don't know how I stumbled upon this site, but since then your site has been one of the first ones I check every day.
Same here, I found this site a couple of years ago, after a year I signed in so I could comment, and I have to say this is the only site I post comments, because its worth it(hope this is correct spelled). I found more about the Japanese culture beyownd only anime and manga. The only problem is the time difference, 9 hours is too much. Congrats on your success and keep up the good work.
Congrats Danny on all of your success and endeavors. I see your success and i think to myself, "I want to follow a similar path just like Danny, but in my own unique way." I recently signed up last month, but i've been an on and off reader since last year.
YAY for Danny ^_^ I really am impressed on how you took just your savings and started doing what you love successfully without any help from your parents! Really, I believe that you are an insperation to all who dream of doing what they love in the future. Grads again! Look forward to the future, where ever it may go! ^_^
From the first time i stumbled onto your site last spring/summer, i knew i was onto something special. After reading about your life, education, jobs, and philosophies on life, i had already found answers to questions i had been asking myself for a long time. Most of the answers were simple, but i had to hear it from the right person for it sink in. Just stop and think for a moment of all the people you've inspired with your words and actions! Of all the culture and entertainment you've brought into people's lives who by chance visited your site and found something very special. Brings tears to my eyes, but in a happy way. But everyone else gets a huge THANKS from me as well. For i have found myriads of useful links, anime, figures, ideas for photography, blogging, etc from this community. I must now celebrate all the beauty in life with a nice cold beer! (sorry for being long-winded, but i really do mean it all sincerely)
Wow, I can't believe I'm actually paying your mortgage. I'm very proud to myself that I am doing a lot here to keep you alive. LOL, jokes. I love you danny. I am learning japanese to one day go to Japan and see you. ^_^. During that time, keep us posted of what you're doing.
Amazing...just amazing. Congrats, Danny; you've accomplished what many of us can only dream to accomplish. May your site continue to flourish in the future!
I found out last year about Jimmy Choo, Danny's dad, and had a look at wiki... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_choo I was like wow this is crazy... I can't believe he even got the title Dato'... But Danny didn't follow his dad and went with his on path in life, and now he's just as succesful! That's Danny for you! All hail King Danny!
Danny, I couldn't believe myself that I'm still crying happily over your accomplishments for second times in a day after reading all the positive & encouraging comments left by all your loyal pleasant readers ^_^ It is like taking those wonderful feedbacks to ourself, seeing you succeed & happy also makes us feel the same way. It is no doubt proven that you are already in every part of our lifes, influencing & representing everyone around you of the same interest. Keep up the great work, Danny. The FORCE will always be very strong with you as all the readers here is the foundation of your success. All hail to the King of Geeks!!!!!!!! again. m(_ _)m m(_ _)m m(_ _)m m(_ _)m m(_ _)m m(_ _)m m(_ _)m m(_ _)m m(_ _)m
Sweet! I've been here since early 2006, something like that. Site just keeps getting better.
This guy deserve to be known throughout the world. Somebody should really make a Wiki article 'bout him.
Somebody did and it got deleted ^^;
Congratulations Danny. Your site is excellent, so you deserve it. I have been lurking on the site since about mid 2005 I think.
Very nice article.. I saw it before Danny published here, thanks to that article about unemployment in Japan... It's been some time I've been here... what? About an year? Congrats Danny! You are opening the gates leading the parade of us otaku bloggers! XD
All i can say is that i already loved the site, and after this i have acquired an even greater respect for you Danny Choo, keep on going and ill keep on visiting and reading your site, since it has become a daily stop for me, and thanks to your site im planning a trip to japan next year
And it looks like the trend is the same with increase of users - 40% of folks have been reading < 6 months.
Not sure how long I've been reading... I'd have to go through your articles and figure out which one was the first I read, lol. Pretty sure I've been reading for close to 2 years though... that's quite amazing when I think about it =o
Grats to your accomplishment Danny. Wish I can do what you did lol ^.^
I share a great respect for you because you did what you dreamed of doing it. People who follow their dreams will forever have a happy life. I wish you a successful life and hope one day I can take a picture with you dressed as the storm trooper. I actually didn't know you were the son of a famous shoe maker. It was nice seeing your dad proud. How often do you see your dad?
We love you Danny! Congrats! Go Danny Go! The day I registered here was the day my parents and friends found out my otakuness, but i've been around this site longer.
CNN, great job, and am happy that your doing what you love... so few of us doo.. congrats on the exposure.. and hoping the revenue increases to where you can by more Gunpla!! stay well and rested... don't over do it!
and that picture 2 from the right looks like a Tenga cup... blurry as hell thou..
i've been on your site for a little bit over 1 yr...and from back then this site has really advanced...as evidenced now from your interview on CNN...good job danny and keep it up!
don't mind my registered date because for some reason my old account was wiped out during one of ur site conversions -__-
I actually did not know you were the son of Jimmy Choo. I figured you might be related, but not that close. Interesting fact to know. I've been here a while (Not as long as some) and even in the time I've been here, the site has changed a lot. Keep up the good work, and we'll be here.
Still a small fish in this big cyberocean, and used to stop by this site once or twice... 'til the site got very popular, and i've hooked ever since.
Awesome as usual Danny, I did find some irony in the fact that the entire article is about "how you walk on your own two feet, without a nip nor dime from your old man" and yet the article blurb about you is "Jimmy Choo's Son" lol.
awesome danny, you are the king! all hail the king. I found out about this CNN from a co-worker who told me, hey that Japaneses guy u read is on CNN. heheh we watched it online. You a big inspiration to me and a great person. Good job on all your accomplishments and keep moving forward. I've been on this site, I think for 4 years now. XD
I've been a regular reader since February or March of 2008, but only recently signed up. Dunno why it took me so long. I was looking for more insider info on some places I wanted to visit in Tokyo and damn if I didn't find the best 'insider' info ever. It's always a great time, hanging out on your site, Danny. Much respect and applause for you, doing all that you have and will do!!
You know, I always suspected you two were related, something about the bone structure of your face. But seriously, great work with the interview. Can't wait to see what other surprises you have in store for us next.
Go Danny! You're getting more famous by the second! I loled at the "Unofficial King of Geeks" xD
Omedeto Gozaimasu! I am sure your legion of supporters will spread your name far and wide. Looking for more firsts at dannychoo.com.
I've been visiting this site for quite some time, well over a year, I think two. A Gundam web search got me here, and I remember the layout was really basic. I Have only recently started posting. That CNN piece is cool. I'm glad to see you are getting more exposure. Can't wait to see the G4 appearance. While I'm watching it, I can point to the screen, and say "Hey! I post on that guy's site." I did not know your father was famous, furthermore, I really had no idea who Jimmy Choo even was, before watching that CNN video. ^_^; I guess I don't pay much attention to women's shoes... It's kind of like a double surprise, for me at least. E^D
Congrats on getting on CNN! I should have made the connection between you and your dad earlier. You should go visit him soon, family is very important.
oh wow... i wasnt expecting this... GRats danny, i actually never knew about ur dad, think its pretty amazing what u've managed to do with your life and find something you enjoy so much. Danny ur makin us envious.
thats awesome!!! congrats!!! wiiiii!!!
Great article. I hope to have time to watch the CNN story later. I'm intrigued. I like the new article page layout as well, but would prefer to see the articles being read now etc on here. I think that's where you get people to stay here longer, it works for me! Also, no partner advertisements? It feels a bit empty without something else, but I don't usually click through to your partner ads because I'm primarily here for Gundam and Japan related articles and less for the figures.
おめでとう!!!! XD WOOHOOOO. I hope your success continues throughout the future! DANNY IS TEH PWN DESU
Congratulations Danny. Again, you're furthering yourself to a higher icon for Otakus and geeks in general. I knew one time you said you made womens' shoes before but I didn't exactly know your father was the infamous Jimmy Choo (I thought you were joking about it ^^;). Hopefully we'll live the life you're making and let the Force be with you man.
Congrats on once again making it on TV :D
Congrats on the CNN coverage. Wish I was there with you in Shibuya when they filmed everything. Perhaps another time when I come back to Japan.
Congratulation Danny! I always know you will hit something bigger one day, but on CNN, wow. Thats quite an accomplishment you got there. My respect to you. I knew you mention working with your family in shoe making, but I did not expect it to be the infamous Jimmy Choo. Still I greatly respect you for your achievement, and on pursuing your dream by yourself, with the hard way. GBU Danny and keep it going, and uplifting the geeks name :p.
I did not know that Danny was related to Jimmy Choo. Also, since it's my first time hearing Danny speak English, I wanted to remark that his accent is really unique ! Hearing British-Accented English spoken with a Japanese accent is very different and not somethign I heard before. I've heard Japanese people speaking English, and americans speaking english with a japanese accent. It was really interesting. The site will become even more popular now because of this feature on CNN. I was suprised it was in English, for some reason I assumed it would be Japanese CNN? Haha CNN probably doesn't even really exist in Japan.
Ahh that video really made my day Danny, I hope the future holds more interesting twists and turns for you, 3 thumbs up!
Ah, that is fairly weird. This is the second time I made a post and it didn't process through. Hmm. Maybe that has to do with Chrome and Firefox not being able to completely load this article correctly. Anyway congratulations Danny! Awesome video. The shoes you've designed definitely appears to be wearable. I guess it was never made into production? What was the process you had to create it? Haha. Wow. It didn't exactly cross my mind that your father was Jimmy Choo.
In the words of the immortal Mel Brooks..."It's good to be the king."
It came as a surprise to me that your dad's THE Jimmy Choo. Though your achievements are totally independent of your dad, i guess you can say that he at least passed on the Choo gene of possessing natural talent and creativity lol. Anyway knowing your dad's the famous designer didn't change my view of you at all. You worked hard to get where you are now, and we are all proud (and jealous :D) of you lol. Kudos Danny!
God Save the King!!! Long Live the King!! LOL http://www.ddripandelli.it/ourworld/hymn/God_Save_the_Queen.mp3
"mmmmm" delish? ^^ Congratz on the interview, was rather well done and balanced as least they don't make you into some sort of weirdo. BTW should really take time to visit daddy choo.
Congratulations! So, what's the deal with the t-shirts. Are they going to share any $$ with you? http://www.cnn.com/tshirt/index.html?hash=b03e0ec8499fdfda9759fc138d4560dd&session_id=
LOL!
Whoa, nice! LOL!
I always thought the Choo in your name sounded familiar. But congrats for making it big your own way. You're definitely an inspiration to those of us who are still trying to accomplish their dreams. Keep up the great work! We will all continue to visit you daily through this site. =D
congratulations MR. Danny . you are the King!
Very cool, Danny. Congrats!
Congratulations Danny! You have made it to the international news. We are so proud of you :D Keep up the great job~
I have been a longtime reader of this fun & creative site. Although I didn't mind being an observer, to now actually adding thoughts to all sorts of fun entries.
Wow Danny, so you were the son of Jimmy Choo! I knew your father was a guy called Jimmy Choo, but didn't know he was THE Jimmy Choo who is quite a big shot in the London fashion industry. Anyway, I find the CNN report quite inspiring, going to a foreign country and thriving in it is really no small feat. I have been following your site for sometime now and it has entertained me much. It really shows success is possible if you have passion for it. Oh yes, I'm going to chase an otaku career as that is my passion! Thanks for the site Danny.
Woah, this is really good i guess. Ciongratulations Danny, you deserve all of this :-) About the poll question,I'm readin from 6 or seven months, but registered not too much time ago. P.S.: you're right, my g/f [a Sex In The City addict] started yellin "jimmy choo? that jimmy choo?"^__^ Congratulations again:-)
haaha congrats for the milestone :) Would this mean any changes to the site? D: since there would be more visitors? Awesome stuff ^^"
Omedeto! Been around here nearly a year and a half. Am always impressed with your works. Keep up the good job! ^.^ Lolx. wonder how your dad thinks when he sees his son is troop dancing in the street. ^.^" (But that's of course a different culture...)
Wow made it onto CNN, i'm impressed and I think my mum has a pair of your dads shoes, never realised you were related to Jimmy Choo (bad asch). Though I think they used the work 'Geek' a bit too much. Well now i get to look forward to the Tokyo Storm Trooper broadcast
japan king of the geek eh... not that i'm jealous of you, but those CNN reviewer must've NEVER seen the true/kage king of the geek^^ IMO your still at the lvl of high ranked geek/otaku ^^; but u are working in otaku business & successful that's what make u teh king! i'll be expecting more and more of those adds all hail dannychoo!!!
o btw u are lucky high ranked otaku those SAFs in month's frequency...
I have been a reader for over a year, but I guess I fall under the category "Taking a Break" Congratulations on the CNN feature Danny! You inspire a lot of us!

Woot! Danny on CNN! That's a major step forward. :D We love you Danny!
congratulation!!
Being featured on CNN will really boost the traffic to your site. congrats again and again and again. ^^ I do have to wonder though since you will not be taking over your dad's business, who's gonna succeed him in his business in the long run? heheh. I can see though that you got your skills from your dad when it comes to arts & crafts. :D You just used it in a totally different way. heheh. I wonder what's in store for you in like the next 5-10 years
hmm. now I'm wondering how long it has been since you've last talked to your parents? lol
Epic coverage!! This is the one vid i´m going to show with pride to people who don´t know about our otaku-culture, one the one hand they say "geeks" but on the other it´s all about fun and that it´s possible to success in live having fun. The signature "mmmmmmmmmm" was (^_^).
Woah cooooooool :D for a website to be showcased on CNN is really something!
From the beginning always I knew that his Father was a famous designer of Footwear and Danny followed its own way in life and the things he likes... Wao it's amazing and Tremendous delivery of CNN, DANNY CHOO Congratulations!!!
Danny deserves many things because is Good...
Congrats on the CNN show Dancho!
Rock on Danny. You know you're doing something right when it warrents this much attention. Especially when it's drumming to your own beat.
Wow, that's what you call a new heaven lifestyle. You rock Danny.
Congratulations Danny for getting an article on CNN! This is a great step for the site to be shown on CNN.
Congratulations Danny, That's amazing ^^
You keep rockin' dude. Your success is much deserved.
Congratulations on the major milestone achievement, Danny. I've been a reader of your web portal for about 3 years now. To get a better count of the new/current readers, can't you just download the list of the ip address from the visitors and compared it month by month (or year by year) to get a better accurate statistics? I'm not a computer techie, but I figure there should be a way to verify if a user is new or not. Also, I'm glad that you didn't ask your Dad for money. This is what you called as "Self made fortune" =D
Entertaining bit on CNN dude, congrats. Is it true that you didn't ask for any support from your folks? Pretty awesome to have such perseverance and determination to blaze your own path. Most of the youth today should learn from your example... It's both sad and pathetic that the youngsters today can't stand on their own two feet and expect everything to be handed to them.
Amazing! Congrats!
life isn't fair...amazing stuff ^_^
jimmy choo is ur dad? omg i didn't know much ur background danny. so now i know ur origin.
way to go Danny, you are amazing and an inspiration
Wow! Too cool! Giving a speech at an event. And now featured on CNN! Whats next?
Congrats! And well done. It is certainly nice to see your dancing on CNN. o/
I guess the next thing to be a big thing for you is your first child. XD
Congrats on the CNN feature. =) I saw it on ANN. I was really surprised to find out Jimmy Choo is your dad! I've been to the Jimmy Choo store in Vegas before. The shoes are so gorgeous (and way out of my price range, haha.) As for the poll, I've read your blog before... maybe a year or two ago (2006?) I never read it regularly, so I don't want to say I've been around for those 2 years. >_>;;
XD Oh my. What a british a accent you have.I was expecting something more japanese sounding. You sound like I do. :3 I had no idea that THAT many users logged into DannyChoo.
Wow congrats! Very nice!
Very cool. Omedetou!
Way to go Danny, you rock.
You are becoming a TV star
