Ecchi Akihabara

Before we look at the ecchi stuff in Akiba, I would like to thank all those who applied for the translator positions that I posted in my News Items.

I'll just repeat what I said in the updated post.

I'm proud to have sooo many talented folks in the community! Many super stars were also discovered too. As mentioned in the original text, due to the amount of applications (much more than expected within such a short time!), I cant reply to all. I will start contacting chosen applicants - If you do not hear from me within the next 24 hours then I would like to say...

ご応募いただき本当にありがとうございました。お疲れさまでした。これに応募したあなたはきっと夢を実現する事が出来る。日本語勉強はあきらめないで、パッションをもって勉強し続けてください。応援しています。また今度の機会で。

And to the others who said "I wish I took Japanese" - if you really meant it then its not too late to start - this is how you can start too.

I will be posting further jobs in the News Items so you may want to keep up by RSS subscribing to them.
Now on to the ecchi stuff - there is quite a bit in here so wont be going through all of it. If you have a question about a particular item then shout out in the comments.
Needless to say that the rest of this article is NSFW - turn back if you are not into ecchi stuff.
When I first visited Akihabara many moons ago, they didn't really have stuff like this - I was mainly after the games, gadgets and idol photo books and VHS tapes back then.
When you visit Akiba, do you pick up any ecchi stuff - doujin, eroge, AV DVD, Tenga etc? Do you have trouble getting them back to your region or do you have ninja skills to conceal them well in your baggage?
And for those who will be visiting Akiba, will you be picking up ecchi goodies?
All of these goodies can be found at Asobit Game.

Akiba is always a stop. Shopping too for new art books and DVDs. Too bad the best studios dont make All-region DVDs. = ( . Last time I went to Akiba was on a Sunday, and they closed down traffic for the day. Do they always do that? I also remember aspiring idols and maids, and maids and more maids.
I remember walking more up and down than to and fro. I miss Tokyo so much. I love these kind of posts, makes me feel like I am back there again.
I like the food posts too, wheres a good mexican joint in Tokyo? I only remember one that was awesome and it was in Hiroo/Ebisu. New article idea Mr.Choo? Tokyo international food places?

Danny, is it still too late to apply for the translating position?
To me it looks like easy work, and I have had experience translating the 12 Kindoms novels into English and have JLPT level 1 certification.

Can you please give me the okay to still try to apply?

I would definitely buy that stuff when I get there. Hey man its part of the Akihabara experience, in fact I believe its wrong if you don't. Although I must admit, I dread the security check part when I head back into the states.....oh the looks....

I picked up lots of small giveaway posters in Akiba itself, they were mainly advertisments for games, figures and 2D healthcare material, but the artwork is wonderous.

This caught my eye beyond everything else, Love Selection by Kisaragi Gunma manga being made into Anime! First I've heard of it, but I want!

I was last in Akiba in Dec 2003/Jan 2004ish, so it wasn't nearly as filled with ecchi merchandise as it is now back then. Did most of my shopping at random scattered Animate stores throughout Tokyo

When I was in Japan, the only ero stuff I got was doujin and some magazines.
Not because I was embarassed or something, mainly because I didn't knew much of the H universe. :P

If I went there today, I'd prolly buy tenga, dakimakuras, more doujin (though this time I'd buy specific authors, not only pick random stuff), and whatever more I've been dreaming of, downloading and bookmarking. :P

When I was in Japan the only anime stuff I was prepared to buy was Artbooks... and I didn't find some of them. Out of stock or rare stuff. Still, spent too much money on it.

I'd probably had to be filthy rich to buy everything I wanted now...

I'm kinda sad for not knowing japanese to work for Danny, but on the other hand, I'm kinda glad I didn't knew japanese when I was in Japan. The amount of eroge and other stuff I would have wanted to buy if I knew japanese... overwhelming.

Yeah, are you just stealthy with a camera or did they actually let you take those pics in the store? I was there yesterday, but didn't want to cause any scenes, so I just snapped a quick pic inside an elevator when nobody was looking (aside from the darn security camera).
