Today I was invited over by Good Smile Company to the figure event for traders and sellers that’s held after each Wonfes.
Today we are going to take a look at some of the Figma’s and according to comrade Shimazou at Hobby Stock, some of these Nendoroids are being displayed for the first time.
The event was held in Akiba which was a pleasant change from this time last year at Kanda. Also got to spend quality time with some of the other figure makers so expect more exclusives - not just from Good Smile and Max Factory all the time ^^;
First up are the Nendoroid Puchi Idolmaster figures. As you can see the hair is matt and not shiny as when they were first displayed at the Idol Master concert.
Next up are the Haruhi Nendoroid Puchi.
Then its Nendoroid Rin and Len.
Neuro Nougami and Yako Katsuragi.
Shanna-chan.
Sakura Nankyoku from Pen Musu.
Saber Lion Nendoroid.
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.
Kyouka Midarezaki - you saw her first at dannychoo.com previously - much more to come ^^;
Yoko Nendoroid.
Kagami - Out next month. Want now!
Tsukasa - out this month.
Miyuki Figma out November.
Seto Figma - there is a suprise that comes with this one ^^;
Looks like they didnt stick the head on properly for this Tsuruya-san Figma. Want yesterday!
Going to be tough to carry around due to the mass of hair.
I have a feeling that I will have this next week for some reason...
Saber Lily. Must. Have.
Spinzaku.
Rin and Len Figma.
Hatsune Miku Figma.
Ryoumo Figma.
Its been a long day - me forgets her name. Name that Figma.
The Tigers get their mascot Figmatized.
Another one you saw here first - Doala Figma.
So, a load of Figma and Nendoroid you have seen in this article. For those who still dont know, Figma's are the articulated ones and Nendoroid's are the ones with the huge heads. Which of these do you prefer? Or do you prefer neither and like the scale figures instead?

I actually like the Figma's a lot as you can fidget with them and are easy to carry around.
First time here?
If you are new here, you may want to keep up with more of the same via RSS or Danny's other networks. (dont show again)

Blimey! Am i the first?

Some nice pics there - i frickin LOVE the Yoko nendoroid - ill be getting that.
As for the poll, generally, i much prefer standard scale non-poseable figures as the quality and likeness is much better, they are larger, have no joints, are solid/ sturdy and dont come with hundreds of little accessories that end up cluttering the place up. Plus, i dont 'play' or pose my figures - id rather have a brilliantly modeled one in a set pose, rather than a so-so one that is covered with joints and only looks good in a few poses.

do note that saber lily is sold as a bundle with Fate / UC game...that'll cost you 10,000 yen ++

a scaled saber lily PVC bundled with the game would easily reach 15,000 yen ++

I pick the lesser of 2 evils lol

Must get the Saber Lion Nendoroid and Shana of course. :) (Though I still prefer the black-haired one of Shana.)

The unnamed Figma is Hayate Yagami from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha (A's and StrikerS). :)

As for the FIGMA's, I really want the Len and Rin figma's. And Spinzaku. ;o;

I'm not a fan of figma, partly because they are smaller than one might expect, but making them bigger would have made the joints more noticeable. I think nendroids cater more to my dorky enjoyment of silliness.

I prefer standard scale figures, but I adore the Nendoroids, especially the ones of Yoko, Shana, and Lion Saber.

The Figma series are fun to pose your favorite characters in, but I just don't like how obvious the joints stand out...though admitedly the newer series make the leg joints less noticeable. I only consider buying the ones like Saber or Lily Saber Figma series where they're wearing armor since the joints are almost invisible.

I find nendoroids very cute, but I don't foresee myself building up a collection anytime soon. So far, I only have a few.

I have zero figmas and it'll likely remain that way. Not a fan of joints (ugh, seto-san) nor taking figures out to make poses.

I'll just stick with standard scale figures.

I've noticed that too. The open-mouthed face in particular looks kind of funky; there might be something off about her nose. They'll probably fix it, and if they don't, there's still the regular close-mouthed face, which looks fine.

Nendroids are really cute, but I prefer figmas with their greater articulation.
Downside is the figma joints are too noticeable, but it won't stop me buying them. Just posing them is the fun part.
Figma Tsuruya looks strange, really tall, long neck.
The vocaloids don't look too bad, but I had much higher expectations. Too shiny I think, but I'll get them anyway.

I pefer nendoroid, they're too much moe than figmas; and I don`t care 4 the articulation, or change their position as well. Of course, an 1/8 scale figure NEVER is over.

Lately I adquired some Nendoroids, are cute and easy to display in any place, but I like more standar figures for 18 or similar. And yet have some "allergy" to articled figures amd juntions on arms and legs, but the Lucky Star Figmas are changing my mind slowly...

And for me it doesn't really matter which ones. Large-scale or small-scale, but the nendoroids are just higher on the list (and a little cheaper ^^)
I'm not yet sold for figma's though, I don't really need to pose a figure. If a large-scale figure has a nice pose, it's fine, no need to be able to change it. I'm just wondering how solid those figma's are, sometimes you can move the clothes too, are they fragile? It looks a bit fragile to me.

with the increasing popularity of Figma and Nendoroid, soon i foresee most collector will have 3 different version of a same anime character, a figma, a nendoroid and a standard scale figure.

me still much prefer standard scale figures though.

Wow nice coverage Danny, love the Vocaloids and I can't get enough of that Shana Nend^^
Love the Rin and Len Nends too, definitely at the top of my list^^ Some of the Figmas look nice too, wish Tsuruya-san looked better though:/ but then again these are just good proto types right?Ether way I'm still getting her>:)

As for the pole,I rather kill my wallet by buying regular figures,I look at them as art work and a "figure",some of them are beautifully made with awesome poses and/or with elaborate clothing. Also the quality is way better, you really appreciate the sculptors and manufacturers hard work:)But second will have to be Nendoroids,I mean, you can't resist them, their just too cute^^
Figmas are ok,I guess, good for when your bored or waiting for a download to finish. It's good that you can take them out with you and play with them at a restaurant or something, but you could do the same with Nends^^
I like all them but preferably Figures^^ Nends are good to buy too,if you got most of the figures you want or if you just happen to spot them and have some cash with you;) As for Figmas, they're a last resort, only if bought all the figures you want, and whatever cash you have left use it for them:)

I love Figma. I've got Haruhi, and the other 2 SOS girls are on the way to me as we speak. I've got a Nendoroid, but the lack of flexibility and balance issues put me off, as cute as a lot of these are. The Idolmaster ones are VERY cute! But I do prefer Figma, by far. They're so free and easy to pose!

I'm starting to like all three, though I still prefer standard figures by far.

Nendoroid would come second since I don't like action figures much, but I like my Figma Yuki a lot.

From the pics, I really want: nendo Shana, lion Saber, Kyouka (even though I was not very impressed with the anime), figma Kona-chan, and the witch costume figma Yuki. Not in pics, but I also want nendo Yuki with witch costume and Hatsune Miku.

nendoroids are simply adorable, like you said Danny on the other occasion when you look at them you want them to be edible and eat them, they are that sweet. On the other hand the whole Figma idea doesn't float my boat at all, I like to look at figures not play with them, and that is mostly why I don't have any figure at all. I could watch them on the pictures without the need of dusting them and fear of broking them.

Figma FTW ^^

it's the only way to get your fav characters into one big messy battle royale where decapitations abound without having to mutilate your figures lol

and combined with some revoltech parts...you can create mecha-nized version of your fav chara....

anyway, I'll be getting all the figmas featured here... I already got figma Suzaku at an ok price making all 3 limited figma are in my possession...now waiting for saber lily...

though I'm still thinking about the baseball mascots...I know baseball is popular there but seriously....why baseball mascots -_-

and isn't there supposed to be a Jojo's Bizzare Adventure Figma??

Y-Y-YOKO NENDOROID? Yep, that's definitely on my "To Buy" list. I think I might wait, you know, since there might be a Kamina Nendoroid (I REALLY want to see Lord Genome Nendoroid-ized). I'm ordering my Konata Figma Saturday and I plan on getting either Tsukasa or Kagami with it. In terms of what I prefer, it depends on the overall figurine. I prefer Figma, but only if they have clothes on where the joints would be (Skin makes the joints look ugly, in turn making them look muscley), and for Nendoroids, well that just depends if I like the character or not. Standard Scale is something I only have 1 of (The Natalia figurine you reviewed many moons ago), the only thing about them is that it's VERY hot in my house, and almost all the scales I like have big flowy hair. Once I get a better collection, I'll most likely leave them at my uncle's in the summer.

Wow... Moe overload got have I... I've seen so many pictures of so many great figures! This was the event to be at! Thanks for taking the pictures for us Danny.

It would be easier for me to make a list of the figures I don't want. ^o^ I have always wanted to buy one of those Nendoroid sets. However, I'm afraid I will end up with several of the same Nendoroid... Great, I want "lucky"! I'm a Tigers fan.

When it comes to figures, it makes no difference to me. I enjoy them all. Nendoroid, Figma and scale figures, it makes no difference to me. I usually refer to them as figures. Only something like "Holy Bell" do I call a statue.

You're right... It's Saber in a new outfit. Does Saber Lily play any significance in the Anime or the game? I can't find any information on her anywhere.

I find Nendroids cute, but I'm not really into them. For that price, by adding 1000 yen, I'll be able to get a completed figure or 2 Figmas. Only if a Nendroid is super awesome will I spring for one.

I mainly use Figmas as substitutes for regular figures. I did not manage to get the Max Factory Haruhi Girls and I am really satisfied with their Figma counterparts. The joints don't bother me at all and as figures, they are works of art. Discrimination against action figures is NOT ALLOWED! :)

Another example of a possible substitute is for Hatsune Miku. I like her character, but not so much as to pay US 60 - 70 for a completed version of her. The Figma version will be just fine. :)

Yes, definitely Figmas. I have my first Figma on order. Hopefully I won't be disappointed which I doubt.

Where's the option for both Figma and Nendoroid? I like them both, although the number of Figma figures that I have outnumber the Nendoroid right now. With Shana, Yoko, and Sakura coming out, the numbers should get even.

I now prefer Figma than normal scales now because of the accessories and ever changing action poses. But I'll get the one I know of and the figma that has some covering on their arm joints. The Seto figma's arm joint kinda stands out too much.

What's great about them is that softcore figurine fans can get good items for a low price (20-30 dollars per item, against 80-150 for a big figurine). The only thing I complain about the big nendoroids are the plastic stands; in some dolls they can't bear the weight or don't hold it right, so I got my fair share of falling figurines. Half my nendoroids are in their box because the stand broke.

I plan to stick with the petit ones, they are much more stable and won't hurt me much if they break.

I prefer scale figures coz I don't want to see the joints. Hmm ... but I have one Figma though, my Figma Saber. I prefer her in Figma because she can do all the action poses. :) In her form, the joints are ok since she's armored and everything. I don't have nendoroids yet but I may get the Haruhi set like in this post. Very cute! :)

I just bought myself a Figma Saber, but I really wanna get a Nendroid Lion Saber for my collection. I hope I can get a copy. I like Nendroids because they are "kawaii" and they don't take up much space.

I'm getting Rin and Len, My Miku figma is so happy! Also, Her waist keeps poping off,(Miku) my sister popped it off when we first got her, and now its sooooo loose. I finally had her in a cute pose, and then the waist popped off! Ugh! Anyone else have such problems? I play with my figures. That's why it pisses me off so much! I have figma, play arts, and revoltech...I think revoltech is better for "playing." And PLAY arts. They are so sturdy.
