So what's the verdict then?
I opened the box carefully upon arrival in anticipation of me having to box her back up and let her go on Yahoo Auction.
The pre-release pictures taken by Akiba Hobby *and* Moeyo made this figure look really bad!
Not only that, its released by Yamato and they haven't really had a glowing reputation for manufacturing quality figures.
Yamato do make great Macross Valkyries though.
The body does lack shading around her skin and I took these pictures with the white balance set to "cloudy" to give her a bit more color than she has.
Overall quality is good which is why I have decided to keep her.
The paint around the straps does look a bit dodgy in places and the hair does not get as sharp as you see on Good Smile or Max Factory figures.
The optical eyes do look a slightly off.
You can see from the original sculpt in the previous Figure Pre Order article that the face does quite off from the original which is a shame.
Folks going through these photos and are disappointed can try to nab a kit of her at this Sundays Wonfes for 12,000 yen and then paint her yourself. How many of you here make your own female figurine kits?
I will be at the Wonfes this Sunday and you can expect to be bombarded with a ton of figure coverage.
Ringo comes with a plastic stand to keep up her straps but its not really needed.
For those who are wondering, Ringo is from the manga/anime series Air Gear and you can see why she's dressed like this by reading the manga online at onemanga. I still need to check the anime out. was it on your watch list?
I know some of you canceled your order from looking at the final PVC sample pics. Now that you are seeing her closeup, what do you think?
Closeup of the face - you can see that the eyes look a bit off.
It does depend on the angle that you look at her though.
You can see other reviews at Akibahobby, and FooBarBaz.
Ringo also comes with a bag that you can stick over her head (read the previous manga link to find out why she does that) - I didnt take any pics but you can see some of her with the bag at the previous FooBarBaz link.
And I know that many of you have pre-ordered. Are you happy with your purchase?
Quite a cute bottom.
While the face does look a bit off, I'm pleased with this acquisition and have her stationed in my must-have-near-me-figures.
One of these images in the wallpaper pool.
I guess its a good thing that Ringo erm shaves then ^^;;;;;
Makoto and Baek take interest in Ringo's lower half...
Baek stays on to...
And how can we resist some yuri action with Rize?
Have not read the manga and don't really know what that pole thingy is for...
Rize drags Ringo off for some private time...
And for folks who feel like being creative - fill in the blanks.
LuLu and Kyon battle it out for some dessert.
Folks who are interested in ordering can do so at any one of my partners below.
I think this is my fave angle.
First time here?

first of all, that's a nicely sculpted body, but I don't like how her face turned out at all. The join an her hair stands out a lot. The straps or whatever you call it she's wearing is quite unique in design. But it is too revealing for my likings. The figure stands out quite well though, I'm sure it won't be too bad when looked at from a distance.
Not not on my list to buy.

I'd like to know what you thought of it. I'm trying to decide whether or not to get the upcoming Odin Sphere Velvet figure by Yamato, and was looking at Yamato's previous releases to see how they're doing. They've gotten better, but this figure doesn't have me convinced yet. I might just shell out for a resin version. :

Hmmm... Ironically, I was worried about the face when I saw Akiba Hobby's pics, but the pic that is impressing me the most here is the back of her against the cityscape. Eyes are a little plain, but the body is bangin. What to do, what to do...

Same here, I'm not too sorry about canceling my order. While the figure looks much better then the previous photos from Akiba Hobby, there's still something lacking from the final product. At least for the price they are asking. I'd pay around 30 or 40 for this figure, not 70-80(including shipping).

Maybe I'll pick it up later on sometime..

I thought the Simca figure Yamoto released was really nice, though expensive since it was Polystone(not the PVC one).
I bought it and love it one of my favorite figures, would like a nice Ringo to go with it. Akito would be cool too.

If I do have the capabilities to buy this figure, I would definitely buy it! I see nothing wrong in her optical eyes and she is a great and sexy figure. I don't know much about the company Yamato but this could be one of their greatest figure they produced. She looks VERY ecchi but I don't mind buying her x_x

Looks ace. It does look better than i initially thought the production version looked, but then i never thought it looked that bad anyway. Still kinda glad i cancelled my pre order ages ago though - im on a real strict figure diet now as i lack space, and i want that zen feeling of not living amongst clutter!
This figure is only really a 'must get' because it has so much flesh on display! It lacks the killer pose or charming character that i like in figures like mirei-san.

The only pre-order i have (and intend to keep!) is the FREEing Ryokou.

I've seen better, the prototype was way better but that's something we should be used by now with Yamato. This figure has some nice views of her face but it depends on which angle your viewing it like this one the 9th picture, she looks nice in there but from other angles she doesn't look that good. The mouth is very weird though but the body seems ok, the seam line on her head is really bad.

I still build resin kits, but it's frustrating to see how expensive they are versus the PVC pre-mades. The sculpt on that Ringo is pretty nice, however- if I got a figure like that, one thing I could do is re-paint the parts I didn't like, and see what comes of that.

UGH! What happened to her hair? Ringo might as well have a gigantic hole in her head with that horrible looking seam line in her hair. Seam lines in the hair of figures turn me off real fast. It's an interesting figure with a nice sculpt, but the execution is so poor that there is no way I could justify buying this. I'll just read the manga or watch the anime if I want to get my Ringo fix.

Hmmm... the strap on her crotch looks kinda, uh, weird. I think the average member's mind can fathom what said strap resembles, so I wont get any more detailed.

Thought you said you are not getting it? Can't resist her flesh eh? haha
Anyway I think this figure is ok except for the skin tone... it damn looks like a mini candy girl(no shading, no tone) when I 1st look at it... yucks

Danny, I think what you like about this figure is it's "potential" not it's "reality". At least that is the way i look at it.

I like Ringo a lot but I hate this figure. But I would dislike this figure regardless of if the quality matched the pre-order pics, being a straight female collector I like my ladies a little more dressed.

Agreed I like that angle as well. Well it definitely looks better than I thought it would, so I will be reconsidering it. I just can't get past that joint in her hair. Don't the people at Yamato think about these things. Right now I have other figures that I want...

Personally I enjoyed the manga.  I found the anime to be average. ^^;

I've not seen or read Air Gear yet, but I love some of the character designs for it. This figure, however, seems to suffer from 'too much really is too much.' Also, the bag accessory for her head creeps me right out.

I guess perspective and environment DO make a difference.
But I don't have any captions to offer. The images alone had incapacitated me with laughter.

LOL at lelouch and kyon! hahah. I'm glad I didn't get it. The face was a huge factor in my decision to get it really. I noticed the hair turned out a bit rough.

I actually thought the optical eyes were spot on. I would definitely recommend the anime, great action, story and ecchi and has a soundtrack to die for.

What I really like about this is its sexy contrast with Ringo's true character.

Well... I was just going on into a rant about Ringo, but some people might not have watched Air Gear. :P

However, the Queen of Sonia Road is a babe.

She looks nice from far away. I guess it looks nice in general. Probably my least favorite part of this figure is the hair. The flow is okay, but the paint and edges look kind of rough.
