So what's the verdict then?
I opened the box carefully upon arrival in anticipation of me having to box her back up and let her go on Yahoo Auction.
The pre-release pictures taken by Akiba Hobby *and* Moeyo made this figure look really bad!
Not only that, its released by Yamato and they haven't really had a glowing reputation for manufacturing quality figures.
Yamato do make great Macross Valkyries though.
The body does lack shading around her skin and I took these pictures with the white balance set to "cloudy" to give her a bit more color than she has.
Overall quality is good which is why I have decided to keep her.
The paint around the straps does look a bit dodgy in places and the hair does not get as sharp as you see on Good Smile or Max Factory figures.
The optical eyes do look a slightly off.
You can see from the original sculpt in the previous Figure Pre Order article that the face does quite off from the original which is a shame.
Folks going through these photos and are disappointed can try to nab a kit of her at this Sundays Wonfes for 12,000 yen and then paint her yourself. How many of you here make your own female figurine kits?
I will be at the Wonfes this Sunday and you can expect to be bombarded with a ton of figure coverage.
Ringo comes with a plastic stand to keep up her straps but its not really needed.
For those who are wondering, Ringo is from the manga/anime series Air Gear and you can see why she's dressed like this by reading the manga online at onemanga. I still need to check the anime out. was it on your watch list?
I know some of you canceled your order from looking at the final PVC sample pics. Now that you are seeing her closeup, what do you think?
Closeup of the face - you can see that the eyes look a bit off.
It does depend on the angle that you look at her though.

Ringo also comes with a bag that you can stick over her head (read the previous manga link to find out why she does that) - I didnt take any pics but you can see some of her with the bag at the previous FooBarBaz link.
And I know that many of you have pre-ordered. Are you happy with your purchase?

While the face does look a bit off, I'm pleased with this acquisition and have her stationed in my must-have-near-me-figures.

first of all, that's a nicely sculpted body, but I don't like how her face turned out at all. The join an her hair stands out a lot. The straps or whatever you call it she's wearing is quite unique in design. But it is too revealing for my likings. The figure stands out quite well though, I'm sure it won't be too bad when looked at from a distance. Not not on my list to buy.

Hmmm... Ironically, I was worried about the face when I saw Akiba Hobby's pics, but the pic that is impressing me the most here is the back of her against the cityscape. Eyes are a little plain, but the body is bangin. What to do, what to do...

It's not that hard really. Just need the right tools. I sculpted it before on two of my scratch builds.

Somehow I am not sad for having canceled my order. Not much fan of Yamato products, not enough fan of Ringo either... so, good to save money time to time. First yuri picture with Rize is priceless! Symmetrical docking rulez. Fantastic! ^^;

Same here, I'm not too sorry about canceling my order. While the figure looks much better then the previous photos from Akiba Hobby, there's still something lacking from the final product. At least for the price they are asking. I'd pay around 30 or 40 for this figure, not 70-80(including shipping). Maybe I'll pick it up later on sometime..

I thought the Simca figure Yamoto released was really nice, though expensive since it was Polystone(not the PVC one). I bought it and love it one of my favorite figures, would like a nice Ringo to go with it. Akito would be cool too.

Haha, i actually understand the kissing joke now cause I'm watching the old Macross anime at the moment, and I just got past the episode where the two kiss and the zentradi are surprised and perplexed by it ;p I'm liking the old Macross series very much ;p (and Frontier as well ;p gonna watch all the rest after that)

Yep, from AH's and FBB's reviews the shading of her skintone as you mentioned Danny is not as good as the sample, and the face is a little off, but I think preordering her was still a good idea. Still waiting for mine to arrive. Nice review.

i think she looks better with the bag on. anyway the lads told me to drop the anime and go for the manga. i did and well, the drawing style is alright but the story seems to be lacking. or maybe it's just the quality of the fansubs. :-/

If I do have the capabilities to buy this figure, I would definitely buy it! I see nothing wrong in her optical eyes and she is a great and sexy figure. I don't know much about the company Yamato but this could be one of their greatest figure they produced. She looks VERY ecchi but I don't mind buying her x_x
