Starting this week with a pic that I took at Kamakura last week. The young and the old.
Remember folks - don't let others drag you down by telling you "you don't have a chance" or "easier said than done" or "do what you must do - not what you want to do" - these folks are actually speaking about themselves and want you to be in the same position as them. Unless they can see the future, they have no way of judging you or your current position.
Ignore them and start your mission today before its too late.
A Week in Tokyo 20 (click to enlarge)
But before the mission, its important to eat!
My sushi lunch set - 800 yen.

I'm sure its the same all over the world but restaurants get extremely packed at 12 noon. If you are going for lunch, go at 11:30 when they start serving to avoid the crowds.

You can go at 1:30 which will help avoid the crowds too but all the "meal of the day" will be gawn. The meal of the day is known as "Higawari"

Is your lunch break at a fixed time or can you go whenever you want?

Outside small police booths, you will see numbers like these. The numbers in black show how many were wounded in traffic accidents.
The numbers in red show how many died in a traffic accident. Dont know why they display this but not sure if it actually helps people to become more aware when crossing the road/out n about. Is there something similar to this in your region?

Bunch of old Super Famicom games. Back in the days when I had a Super Famicom, I remember finishing most of the games I had - Castlevania, Axelay, Street Fighter etc etc.

These days however, I find that I hardly finish the games I buy. Still have not finished Resistance, Ninja Gaiden, DMC4, No More Heroes - all games which I love but don't play lately mainly due to lack of time.

And why is it that many games just have you running round in circles looking for objects or exits - that is so old!

What unfinished games have you played, why did you give up and what games should your fellow comrade waste no time on?

Whenever a new food place opens in Tokyo, there will be crowds of people flocking to check the taste. Will only be a matter of time to see if this new Tako Yaki (octopus balls) place survives.
If the taste and service is crap, they will be gone within a few months.

Bet you didn't know octopus had balls eh?

Not common knowledge but did you know Japan has Tescos ?
As you can see, they look *completely* different to what folks in the UK are used to seeing. Do you have Tesco in your region too?

Nice Pictures Danny. I can tell from your pics that You eat out a lot don't ya. Its interesting how the prices for some of your things such as the sushi and pizza were cheaper than the small sandwich.

Just thinking that's kinda odd is all. Oh and in your first pictures, are those little girls looking at you? I can just imagine what they are thinking about a guy taking pictures of them.

Fuel has been fluctuating between 145 yen and lately up to 165 yen per litre ..... down near where i work anyway, so actually still cheaper than Australia ... and considering the much shorter distance you need to drive here it's a lot cheaper.

All the folks over here in the US are freaking out about how much fuel costs now. In Chicago it's about $4.65 USD per gallon, which is about ¥132 JPY per litre. So the cost of fuel in the US is finally starting to catch up to the rest of the world, and everyone is upset. I guess people suddenly can't afford to fill up their Hummers and Cadillac Escalades (insanely-huge houses-on-wheels). Go figure.

I remember having Pasta in Japan before, and I was quite surprised how bad it was. Tasted like Chunky Ketchup on Noodles instead of Italian food, but it could of just been the restaurant I was at (was somewhere in Kyoto). I remember Johnathans being pretty good though.

Something I noticed in one of your pictures though, Why is there 3 nozzles at the gas pump? I've never seen more than 2, which is normally just Gasoline and Diesel.

Lots of Japanese and misc. food, glad I just ate! It seems like as you grow older, you just don't have enough time to finish the games you buy T_T I guess that's why people play online RPG where there's no specific end, you just do party play, raid some dungeons, expansion comes out with more materials and you go doing more of the same stuffs with no end -_- I remember the back in the days I would save my money to buy games like Final Fantasy IV and Axelay and would play them until I beat them and was so happy with the feeling of acomplishment. I can hardly feel like that as of late...

Tako Yaki, Tako Yaki. I tried Tako Yaki from a place on Chuo Dori in Akihabara the last time I was in Tokyo. I thought the Octopus Balls themselves weren't too bad but the guy piled on some kind of dried fish flakes on them as he was handing them to me. I was...not a fan.

I'll be in Tokyo in early October and I think I'll give them another try, minus the fish flakes. What are those flakes called anyway?

Long post is long... forgot the first question.
Ok... we don't do number of accidents and death because it would require an animated version to keep the numbers updated.
If I'm not mistaken, car accidents are the number one reason of death in Brazil.
It's been proven that most of the accidents are caused by wreckless driving, followed by DUI.

About games... too many of them nowadays. I used to complete all games when I was a kid, but just can't nowadays. I usually only play them a little, have some fun, and then try the next one.

But I did finish some. Portal, CoD4... Rocket Slime on the DS and one funny and unknown RPG for the PSP... forgot the name. Gurumin.

Let's see... no Tescos in Brazil.
I also had pasta today... but it was gnocci.

Finally, we have the same taste for graffiti Danny.
Take a peek at the one I got last week here:

okonomiyaki reminds me of horikita maki in teppan shoujo akane
takoyaki is one of my fav - always get a couple when i go to jusco (1 ball around 40 yen).
is jusco huge over there? is part of aeon right?

as for games, its 50% normally finish it. for those i cannot finish - i usually end up cheating (cheat codes or hex edit it) and there are those you can never finish - cause they have no ending (e.g GTA, the Sims, bla la la la )

Danny, I always wondered how would someone without a Japanese name get their Hanko done? Katakana?
I've seen those being sold for like 100 yen but they only come with Japanese surnames.
Also isn't there a higher chance of forgery? since all you need is to buy a 100 yen seal.

I really like that first photo Danny. It's a great photo to play around with in Photoshop. ^^

Seen traffic accident signs in state police offices when I was young. Usually during the summer after holidays such as Labor Day when many Americans travel by car.

New hanko stamp is one of the first things my wife and I bought... I never realized that often Japanese have more than one.

I like egg on pizza. My wife also puts tuna fish on pizza.

Sure I knew that...  Haven't you ever notices the line of ball-less octopus coming out of takoyaki shops? ^^;  Poor things are on the short side, so it's easy to miss them... ^^;

I've never had no born chicken on pizza. Was that actually good? Flavor seems kinda mismatched.
