Lately been listening to a load of anime songs while working. The latest one I've been listening to is the OST for Macross Frontier "Nyan Furo" that includes the orchestral, OP, ED and other tracks by the most talented Yoko Kanno.

So today I thought we'd talk about our fave anime songs and hope that we can all discover more songs to add to our playlists. I also learned a load of vocab from anime songs and wonder if its the same for you?

Some of my fave anime songs below - if you have snapshots enabled you will see a little mark next to the link - hover and a YouTube bubble will appear and you can watch the video right here - or click on the bubble to go to YouTube. I just know I'm missing a load from that list but that's what springs to mind ^^; Seventh Moon is the only one I can sing at Karaoke ^^; You is being indulging in Karaoke too? Are Karaoke parlors popular in your region?
And the fave out the whole bunch is probably Tenshi no E no Gu by Mari Iijima from the original Macross - her voice is angelic.
The only place I know where to download a ton of anime songs (including Macross Frontier tracks) is at Gendou - sign up for an account to download just about any anime song from their huge DB - the "song link" is the direct download - make sure your support the artists by purchasing the CD after. If you have any other anime song resources for your fellow otaku then feel free to share.

Would love to hear what your fave anime songs/tunes are and it would be great if you could paste a YouTube link too - Snapshots is enabled for your YouTube links in comments.

And before I forget, you can keep an eye out on when anime songs are released in the Anime BGM ranking charts which refresh once a day. At the moment, the two Macross Frontier music tracks are in the top three.

Reviews of Reijin and Itsuki soon - sorry about the poor quality of lighting.
Oh and feel free to caption the photo ^^;

anyways, the song getting the most playtime on my music player is oblivious by Kalafina, the theme to the first of the seven Kara no Kyoukai movies.

All time fave is Innocent Starter by Mizuki Nana off the first Nanoha series

Same here as well.
In fact, one of my favorite Nana Mizuki song is "Astrogation" (it's a good song, even though is not an anime song) from STARCAMP EP, the single that contains the OP and ED of Rosario + Vampire.

Been listening to a lot of Nyan Furo as well, esp the Sheryl songs, so Infinity, Iteza gogo Don't be late (love that song), diamond Crevasse and What 'bout my star? The ranka version is great too.

Given that my Playlist is reaching 300 anime songs right now, it would be hard to fit them all in, but highlights would be

The songs mentioned above.
Triangular (Macross F)
Realize (gundam Seed)
Megumeru (clannad)
Reflectia (True Tears)
Aozora loop (Kimikiss)
Innocent starter (Mahou shoujou Lyrical Nanoha)
Changes (Toshokan Sensou)
Kazehane (H2O Footprints in the sand)
Chain (Shigofumi)
Joint (shakugan no shana II)
United Force (Kishin Tensei Gigantic Formula)
Hikari No Yukue (El Cazador de la bruja)
and (of course) God Knows (suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu)

I can sing a fair few songs on Karaoke, mostly by memory although I do sometimes need to read the japanese lyrics, but I try not to as it messes up my timing cos I concentrate too much on reading.

Lately I've been listening to a lot of Vocaloid songs with Miku.
As for Anime songs, my favourites would be:
God Knows - Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu
Megumeru - CLANNAD
Keikenchi Joushouchuu - Minami-ke
 - Kanon & AIR OP and ED
Anata ga Iru - Mamotte Shugogetten
Agony & Re-sublimity - Kannaduki no Miko
Sore ga Ai Deshou - Full Metal Panic fumoffu
Lucky Star Karaoke music!!

Don't want to list too many... usually when I enjoy a series, one of the songs would become my favourites. I also use Gendou to download my anime music.

In Sydney there aren't many Karaoke which offer latest Japanese anime music... They have plenty of non-anime though.... I was really surprised the one I went to last week had Lucky Star & Suzumiya Haruhi medley ^^....
Yes I can sing a few songs at karaoke, can't read all kanji but I still manage.

Haruhi: Minna Totsugeki!!

I loved all the ghost in a shell opening and ending credits, they're quite different from anything else I've seen in any other anime, of course ghost in the shell is one of the most original anime in years imo.

The music from ghost in the shell was all really awesome, some of the best composing in an anime in years! My current favourite credits are the ending credits from Daughter of Twenty Faces sung by the lovely aya hirano! (great series btw)

Oh she's cute! That's great song. I hadn't seen the music video for it. I love how they tie it in with the show a bit (fantastic anime, I agree), but I'm not sure what's up with that sucker.... Or well, if I think like a guy I guess I could come up with a reason; otherwise it's sort of an annoying prop.

Gendou is good for direct downloads. If you prefer torrents, you can head over to Nipponsei here https://nipponsei.minglong.org/
They have a lot of songs there too in complete singles and most of them are encoded in 320kbps MP3 for your listening pleasure ^^. I use both personally, if I can't find em from Gendou, will usually search Nipponsei.

My favorite anime song ever is Men of Destiny from Gundam 0083, I love that song so much that sometimes when I hear it tears come to my eyes XD.

Also like the song from Overdrive (winder), Super Robot Wars Divine Wars (Break Out), Kanon (Last Regrets), Macross 2 (Hush Like 200 Million Years) and many many others XD, 90% of my laptop musics are from animes and Jap Games like SRW

1) Over the Sky (ending theme to Last Exile) and
2) 1/3 no Junjou na Kanjou (4th ending to Kenshin).
Recently downloaded the GTO soundtrack too, has some nice tracks in there.

I pretty much listen to any OP of any anime I watch, I think that the OP scenes make the the songs a lot better and gives me a really good memory of it, which is also why i prefer OP themes rather than EDs. The songs make a very good way of promoting the bands as well, many bands I listen to now began with an anime, such as Uverworld, AKFG, HandMC, and even L'arc en ciel. Songs sang by Seiyuus are normally not my type except from really good ones like Hirano Aya and Nana Mizuki (amazing voice).

At the moment though I keep listening to FLOW's Word of the Voice, Sekai no Warae (very easy to sing :D) from Kyou Kara Maou, OP of Toshokan Sensou and a whole Album of HandMC.

But Maximum the Hormone has good songs (Death Note) and Hirasawa Susumu is great also (Paprika OST especially), Hikaru no Go OST is also great. Mainly the OST in animes is easy to forget though, rarely I remember any of the songs.

I love the Ghost in the Shell songs, too. They make up some of my favorite openings out of all the anime I've seen (I love me some Yoko Kano).
Still going crazy over Still Doll, the closing theme for Vampire Knight. Wakeshima is just so adorable, and I love her voice:

Really love the Nodame Cantabile opening and closing pieces. Can't wait for the second season. ^_^
Blood + also has some fantastic songs.
Inori - Lena Park's opening for the Romeo X Juliet anime probably makes for one of my favorite openings of all time. I get chills every time I watch it, and just that opening can sometimes bring me to tears (can't wait for FUNimation to make it available in the spring so I can finally buy it) :

Tank! from Cowboy Bebop of course
This brilliant song, The Garden of Everything, from the Rahxephon movie (you can't go wrong with Yoko Kano AND Maaya Sakamoto):

Well...pretty much anything Yoko Kano's touched, honestly. And all the FLCL songs.
Cruel Angel Thesis from Evangelion of course....
Duvet from Serial Experiments Lain:

Opening and Ending for Gunslinger Girl:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=xEMjq9VpBSE (Light Before We Land)

That's all I can think of right now, but that's plenty. :)
It's pretty much the only kind of music I listen to these days (along with showtunes). I don't understand anything they're saying, but I love the music and the way the language sounds.

Duvet from Serial Experiments Lain is really good (The acoustic version on Boa's album is even better though). Most of the songs on the couple of music CDs released from the series are worth listening too ^_^
