Umm, does Gunpla count as figures, b/c if that is the case, then no, I collected gunpla before I read your sight. Regardless, may start obtaining some figures.... Some....
you mean legend?
I still dont have any figures. I still am waiting for Mirai. DANNY! lol.
While I'd like to start collecting I really don't have the space right now, even for storage. And I'd really have to come up with a good excuse as to why, other than "Me likey".
Say its for research or marketing purposes.
Ha, excellent!
holy sh*t! my main influences from my purchase are from my friends and dc boxes boxes and more boxes! *envy mode on*
My love for figures started with Danny's review of the Max Factory Kureha last year. Although I failed to acquire one for myself despite searching thoroughly for months, I just recently found and bought one at a rather hefty premium price. No regrets! I've got 1 and a half cabinets full of figures and Gunpla now ;)
I gotta be honest I always wanted to collect figures but the prices were too high for something that doesn't do anything but sit there. Once I found out about figmas here on your site I finally started collecting. Statues just don't please me as much I like figures that are pose able. I'd love to see what's in the rubbish bin. Promotional materials probably don't get out to the US huh? Is there any way you could maybe get a hold of some promo materials and give them to members of your site?
I lurked on this site until I received my first figure in the mail cuz I felt out of place :X
i was a figure collector way before reading Danny's but thanx to his blog i'm always on top about everything that has to do with figures & news about Japan & yes i also want a glass shelf full of my figures!!
Been buying figures before I stumbled/crashlanded here but I'll admit I wouldn't have bought my Needa if I didn't see it here first, your figure photos are what inspire me.
OMG SAME!! The pictures are SO nice ~
Can't begin to imagine what it must've been like to stroll through there. I'd probably fall to my knees and cry at the sight of a mountain of Nida. @___@ Thanks, as always, for showing us around behind the scenes. Any chance you might be able to get us a look at Kaiyodo's Revoltech headquarters? As for the poll question, Danny is indeed responsible for my (so-far) small figure collection. My girlfriend is putting up with it so far, so I'm not going to push it by getting too many, but some essentials – Nida, Yoko (when somebody makes the right one), and of course, when she comes along, Mirai ^___^ – she seems willing to tolerate. (Lucky for me.)
I wasn't a huge collector due to money reasons but that has all changed. I started before reading DC where I was reading other ppl's rant's and hobbies. That's pretty much what triggered my hunger as a figure collector. Now, after being in the figure scene for a while I'm getting into other misc. items as well. ^^
Was always interested in them but couldnt justify the price for an inanimate piece of resin/plastic/metal. Oh, how blind was I??? After converting to Dannyism the path is clear, it's so obvious now. It's all your fault Dan! =p Hmm actually i wanted to bring this up for a while, since you are rather famous in these circles, i'm sure you have some power to push around. I know you advertise for many stores that sell everything otaku, is there a way that we could become like elite dannychoo members on the site and earn points that can work towards a discount off your sponsors or those you advertise for? Or like have special promotional items for dannychoo memebrs, anyways you get my point. Not sure exactly how it would work but that would be really cool.
Max Makoto Sawatari = want
Also want that last gundam o.o; I got the captions messed up! >.<
I was already started buying gunpla before came to this site. but Danny's post on how he painted his PG Strike was helpful and very informative. Those are nice gundams. Big warehouse too.
I actually started collecting PVC's before I came to this site. My first PVC was the Bandai DX Lacus Voice I Doll. But I stopped collecting figures and model kits, and now spending all the money on the PSP nowadays, xD .
LoL the first pic is hilarious! Danny running away with all the phat loot! Initially, I had tried to control myself from buying figurines before, and I managed to control it for about 3 years (the urge!!). But with the release of Max Factory's Sawatari Makoto, I was totally overwhelmed and made my first ever pre-order last year for her. But I guess it's also due to reading and seeing all the beautiful figures on dannychoo.com that also led to me starting this hobby. Btw, that gundam that you couldn't ID, that's Legend.
now that's a display set up i'd like to have ^^;;
I really like the figures and whatnot, but my wallet is incredibly stubborn on spending that much cash for something that would just sit in display. Curse that Finance class teaching proper money management and what's considered a need and a want! If I were ever gonna have a figure, it'd most likely be one given to me. Seriously there have been quite a few times where I where gave in and got some...
The unidentified gunpla should be Legend, the one Rey pilots. Love the DRAGOONs. ^^
I wanna raid GSC warehouse! I've collected figures couple years before I read this site. Anyways Max Watanabe's Gunpla look so good!
I had a few figures before I started reading dannychoo.com. Got them at anime conventions only. After reading, I started to buy a few from online retailers. Now knowing it's cheaper and have a much larger selection to choose from. If I entered that warehouse.. I would be dumbfounded, just staring at the mountains of boxes.
It's like heaven in the form of figures. A palace full of gold just WAITING to be taken. Curse you Danny! I wish I could just be there for a second and intake the atmosphere. How I wish I was, inside Good Smile Companie's, warehouse full of dreams
Danny's review of Alter Saber made me go and get her. Got extremely tired of losing my glasses between my dresser and secretary-now I have Saber hold them for me =) Not a single Negative comment from any of my friends or guests at my place. They think its pretty cool, especially since she holds my cleaning cloth as well-looks like she just got done with the beach. At my workspace ive got Max Factory Haruhi on my desk reminding people to take a survey. I use to have Mirei too, but she was a little too risque. Its a fun little hobby, but can get expensive real quick. If Max Factory puts out a Haruhi long hair version in 1/8 or larger my wallet is gone. Off topic-does anyone know if San Diego Comic Con has figure sellers?
hahah now theres a place i would like to get lost in for couple of hours.... might need a translator with me though XD
Supermarket Sweeeeep! I always imagined that my strategy in that game show would be to clothesline the entire aisle of groceries into my cart...this wouldn't be possible with all those large boxes...
!! is this a glimpse of more gunpla coverage?? heh I don't really have the space for figures, and my parents would think im weird if they saw me with what theyd call "dolls", lol
OMG.....
Only if those boxes were see through. And if you want LOTS of help raiding the warehouse just spend me a return ticket? WHAT figures in the garbage?! All I can say is I can help save the planet all they have to do is ship those figurines to me for free.
When I started collecting (here in Vancouver BC) I was in early high school and didn't know where to get stuff so when I came across something form a show I liked (no matter what it was really), I'd buy it. So I have alot of figures I'm not particularly attached to. Up until a year ago it was kind of like this. However, now, I'm kind of exclusively Max Factory/Good Smile as they make the best quality best priced figures that I can usually find a way to obtain. Read more about my figures at my blog: http://blog.cleartranquil.com As for those photos....and in light of what I mentioned above (about WHAT I am collecting right now). If I wasn't a Christian I'd give my soul to go to that warehouse...but...I'm a Christian, I'd only give a left nut to go there.
Figures everywhere! I'd love to walk through that warehouse. I started a little bit before coming to this site, but I've had an interest in figures ever since the first time I went to an anime collectibles store as a child. ^^
its just a hobby reading the figure reviews, but i dont collect haha
Lol when I first saw that pic of you sneaking away with a tower of figma boxes I was like "So that's how he 'suddenly' acquires figures!" j/k...you also remind me of snake from MGS in that other pic with you holding the box...man id like to be in those kinds of places one of these days...
I still need to buy MGS4 orz
Good thing no guards around he can complete his mission. Or else: Dannnyy? Dannyyyyyyyyyy??? Dannyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy???
For a moment there I thought all the pics in this post were going to be all cardboard boxes, Danny! >.< All those figures in the glass cabinets at Good Smile office is just too awesome. Wish my office looked like that and had a figure collection along an entire friggin' wall! I've always collected figures before I came to this site but I never (and still don't) got any girlie figures. But this site is really tempting me every time and I want to get a good one as my first. Thanks for the sneaky peaky at Good Smile's warehouse, Danny.
BTW was your gallery ordered to be taken down or something because I can't view the full-sized pics.
Sorry - fixed now.
^^ Thanks alot now I can observe those display cabinets. I've also noticed...and saddened...to see that they have like multiples of the same RARE figs just sitting around there. I mean, gee, I'm jelous already if they had even ONE. (Talking of course about Konata as Haruhi, and the Nendoroid Fate/Stay Lucky Stars).
you are soo lucky danny! I was interested in figures before I stumbled upon your site, but i think your site made me more interested ^_^ but I offically bought my first figures after i found your site lol.
Hm... I think I atarted collecting after, but that was because I was a Disgaea fan and I ran across Max Factory's Etna at a convention.
This is too nice!!!!!! I would love to see the GSC warehouse. Hey Danny...how many figures did you take? So many figures, my head is spinning!!!
^^;;;;;;;
I will take that as some... I think...
Must be the usual truck load XD
Count the sweatdrops. There's probably one for each of them. xP
