You've seen him dressed as a maid and now see Colonel Sanders dressed up as a Samurai during the Golden Week holidays here in Tokyo.
Just curious but do they dress up Sanders in your region too?
His sword looks rather limp though ^^; May be he needs some 2D girl pics to help him straighten it out.
Haruhi, Chicken burger and coleslaw - 1,000 yen.
The view from Kentucky. I take a pic and then realized after that I snapped the "Chinko" from "Pachinko" - "Chinko" means "mans dolphin" in Japanese ^^;;;;;;
The Kentucky menu. While we are on the subject of food, JapanProbe reports on a disturbing subject...

The main restaurant of scandal-hit upmarket chain Senba Kitcho, located in the city’s Chuo Ward, has been serving leftovers to customers almost on a daily basis for more than 20 years, sources close to the restaurant said.

The restaurant’s head chef admitted at a press conference on Friday that the restaurant had been using the leftovers of six dishes, such as sweetfish broiled with salt, since five or six years ago.

But the sources said the restaurant had actually been reusing a wider range of food items, including broiled fish and beef that had been left untouched by customers, by cooking them again and serving them sometimes in boxed meals.

The only bad experience that I remember is when I was at a Korean restaurant in Shin Okubo near Shinjuku. As I was rummaging around the dish, I found a lovely roasted cockroach...
have you been served something nasty or inedible before?

A roach? EWWWWWWWWWW...

The worse I had was when I found half
a worm in a sandwich (guess it was in the tomatoes). The rest was in my mouth... (seconds later, in the ground D: )

Oh yeah! speaking of cockroaches in fastfood..

I remember having my first (and hopefully the last) encounter with one in a fastfood store...

I was at Mcdonalds .. I ordered a Coke float .. cuz I want to win an ipod touch (theres a promo here in the phils) .. and after I drank all of it .. beneath all those coke .. was a cute little kid cockroach ~_~...

hopefully I never drank the cockroach

And nope, I can't say I've encountered any roaches with my meals at fastfood restaurants... yet. :O

Samurai Sanders = Somewhat cool.
I don't think I ever came across nasty food... If I were to discover something like that... Wait. I found a baby slug in some fresh salad that I bought in a little supermarket. I took the leaf out and set the animal free (by throwing it outside, from the window to a little zone with soil).
...
Guh.

Note 1: It was a few years ago when I was still in France.
Note 2: The slug was indeed alive. It was cute and all, but I decided to not make it a pet and returned it to nature (which I hope was clement enough to let it survive).

I, unfortunately, have been served bad food before: it was at one of those drive in burger joints. I remember when I was a kid I ordered their cheeseburger along with my family's order.
However, once I got my meal and started biting into it, I bit something hard and crunchy. It tasted awful and it was tearing up my mouth so I spitted it out as soon as possible.
I opened my burger to find a giant piece of dried wall paint sitting with my dressings. I called to my dad about this and we quickly got my burger replaced with a non-paint chip burger. It was bizarre indeed.

have heard of travisties that happen in fast food resturants for all my life.. especially chicken places..

come to think of it.. police get even less service in our area.. they order food and the workers spit on it.. or mess it up in some other way.. thats sad though.

does this happen in your area too?

I'm trying to avoid McDonalds as much as possible but yesterday I had one of them Chicken Wraps with the meet being rock hard. Also had a mini Chinese restaurant near here giving me a bad stomach ache after finished eating.

A lot of folk just have the darndest luck with things, and my thing with luck is I have been fortunate to receive good food service throughout my years.

I won't eat KFC anymore due to their treatment of chickens, and it is the same with the fast food industry as a whole. I ain't a veggy- God I love meat. But the sloppy way of work kind of irritates me, and the food is LOADED with preservatives so I avoid it at all costs.

I will eat Subway ^^. It is delicious.

They don't put Sanders statues out around here. I don't even see Ronald McD figures anymore.

I stoped eatting at KFC a while ago. One particular occation I was the only person in the whole resturant and my order took 20 mins! Plus I think their chicken has too much gristle in it.

Never found out if it was true, but I've heard that KFC genetically modified their stock to produce 4 or 6 wings and other tasty parts. Yuck.

Well, being from Brazil you bet I had my share of nasty stuff... including:

Found salad beetles twice on burgers.
Pieces of some blue plastic in the middle of a sausage.
Tons of little maggots on a imported chocolate bar I almost bought in a supermarket... it's been expired for months.

And that's only what I can remember of... I'm pretty shure I have more stories to tell.

Working at a restaurant when I was like 16, I was making salads and I decided to take a handful of cheese. I start to chew, and get a texture of something slightly "tougher" than cheese. I spit it out and discover to my horror that there had been a cigarette butt in the cheese I just ate. Also, I knew someone once whose son worked for a construction company that was union and had a union lunch wagon or whatever you want to call it. He, however, would bring his own drinks and such to work. Well I guess as a kind of retribution, when he ended up buying a half-gallon of iced tea from the union wagon one day, he got sick. Yeah, I have gotten cockroaches numerous times in Hong Kong. If I remember correctly, I have gotten some in water, noodles and in roast suck once.

The first thing I'm going to eat in Tokyo will be Fried Chicken.

That's my stupid plan.

Sanders: "Can I help you cut that chicken thigh? *uses samurai sword*"

Maybe they should make all the Colonel Sanders in America dress up in some sort of military garb (world war, civil war, vietnam)

I'm happy to report i haven't had the displeasure of eating anything in a restaurant. On the other hand I once bit into a raspberry tart that had a worm/bug in it when i was a kid. the sad thing was that it was my aunt who baked the tarts. i still love her cooking though.

I once cooked some Broccoli that had a worm in it. I cooked it up and then I saw it right before I shoved it into my mouth. I stopped buying veggies from Japanese supermarkets after that....

I guess Japanese KFC do not have those family meals that come with chicken, two family sides, and some kind of bread? I am getting hungry. I have only come across a dirty dish like food remains not food. :P

When I was back in Singapore I had a vegetarian fried noodies once, and realised the mushroom in my dish had more than one stalk, so I picked it out to take a look, only to realise it was a decapitated baby cockroach :P I went back to the stall and er they gave me a replacement, LOL but I never finish the food nor go back there again :P

Another time I had a baby frog (live) in a dish I bought from a school canteen... (din eat it after I saw it)

Over here in canada, there seem to be a LOT cases of random curly hair found inside the dishes =_=;

ugh :P

Thankfully nothing bad found in food yet. Either that or I just don't pay attention...uhh....

Where in Tokyo was that Samurai Sanders? I remember the maid one in Akiba. That was fairly silly. I also thought it was silly that so many people were taking pictures of it...

...and then at the end of the day I take out my cameraphone and take a picture too... >_>;;;

"His sword looks rather limp though ^^; May be he needs some 2D girl pics to help him straighten it out."

i could only imagine colonel doing the wide-open move @.@'

being where i am - where alot of food stalls are by the roadside, i guess i had my share of weird-item in my food.
normally, you will have flies, maggots, vege-worms, cockroach in your food. but i have to say that it rarely happens...

As far as I remember I haven't been served some bug in my food. But I remember a friend got a fly in his soup, he got it changed and wasn't charged for the food. But, when he got the new plate of soup he noticed they only took out the fly, because he already added salt and spices before they "supposedly changed it" and it tasted the same. We simply left the place afterwards.

Here in the states they don't have Colonel Sanders statues standing outside, but that would be nice. Also, i notice that KFC is Japan has plain fries......we got potato wedges. KFC in Japan looks healthy.

But in the states, eating KFC is a step closer to death.

But i love KFC, along with the competition in the states such as Popeye's Chicken & Biscuits, & Church's Chicken.

Ahaha that is so true eating it brings you closer to death!! I don't know a single person in my area who hasn't gotten upset stomach and other, more severe health problems after eating from KFC. That's probably why they removed it...

They removed all KFC locations in New York? Sounds impossible.

KFC should really bring back that old Rotisserie recipe they had in the mid 1990's when they first introduced Mac & Cheese and those BBQ beans. KFC's Rotisserie chicken seemed a lot healthier.

I need to cut back on KFC though, but it's hard when fried chicken is part of my favorite foods. Least chicken is the closest to 'healthy' compared to pork and red meats.

The thing with Kentucky Fried Chicken is: Col. Harlan Sanders literally started the entire national operation when in his sixties.
There's an episode of the old television show "What's My Line?" where he - unmasked and identified - stumps the panel, which couldn't deduce he ran a fried chicken franchise. Try searching for that on the World-Wide Web.
Restaurants with cute mascots outside the building have bitten the dust here in the USA, probably due to vandalism. The last places to have them were the "Big Boy" restaurants. The Jack-In-The-Box clown mascot is only seen in TV commercials.
The KFCs around here have an unpublicized arrangement. If you go to the restaurant within 30 minutes of its closing time for the night, you'll get stupendous deals on foods they will have to otherwise trash when the shop closes.
I did not eat at any U.S.A.-originating fast food places in Tokyo the last time there. I did go to Freshness Burger and MOS Burger though. They were good.

I ordered a Chilidog from one of our local burger stores here, was two bites away from finishing my sandwich, saw a brown stick-like thing sticking out of my chilidog. I yanked it and saw that it was a cockroach's leg. Since I was almost done eating, I didn't know if I ate the rest of the cockroach or it was just the leg that got lost in there.

I still eat at that burger store though ^_^

Oh and I've had my share of worms from fruits. I don't really mind eating them since they grew up in the fruit and are clean.

I had my stomach pumped after those events...except the face punching (it just hurt lots)
