A quick look at the sort of snacks we consume in the office during work ^^;
First up is Choco Mochi - glutinous rice cake with almond and chocolate - yum.
Lotte is a popular sweets manufacturer in Japan. I had no idea that it was Korean comany until I stayed at the Lotte Hotel in Seoul - there is even a Lotte World amusement park too.
Lottle CM below with the lovely Aya Ueto.
McVities was a brand I used to have since I was a kid - glad they came to Japan.
Bourbon Vanilla Roanne - it's like wafer with cream inside.
Macadamia by Lotte.
Chocholate n nut snacks - 29 yen each.
You will find that many of the snacks here have English written on them - even though it may not mean much. These strawberry snacks are sweet n yummy.
Corn Potage crisps.
Pote-Long meaning "Long Potatoes" ^^;
Love the name of this snack - "Ottotto" - small bags of crisps.
Thank you Nabisco for bringing Ritz to Japan.
Nabisco also brings is a kinda lemon version of Ritz. BTW, I love the way you can pose Haruhi like this - the legs are so cute.
"Choice" biscuits by Morinaga. Vintage Morinaga CM below.
Nabisco Oreo.
Snacks for dolphins.
Whats the quality of snacks like in your region?

where better place to feed your dolphin his snacks when it has the best entertainment at hand

anyway, my local has Japanese, Korean and Chinese snacks and often priced in that order

for instance
Japanese Pocky for AU$4.00
Koren Pocky for AU$1.50
Chinese 'Pocky' for AU$.80

why.....T_T

Yeah I know....anything Japanese is a complete rip off over here in Aus.

I don't know how much truth there is to it, but a friend once told me that all the Chinese and Korean snacks get imported direct from China and Korea, but the Japanese snacks are imported to China and then to Australia...which would explain quite a bit...

Japanese Kit Kat flavors are so good, got me some Sakura flavored ones not so long ago. Wasn't sure what it would taste like, but it was good, tasted kinda like coconut and banana really. My 3 faves are Melon (cantaloupe in the states), Sakura and Green Tea is just baller.

Snacks here are good with many popular brands like Pocky (renamed to Rocky), Mars, Snickers, etc available.

Though some of their prices are quite out-of-place here.
A bar of the ice cream version Mars and Snickers can cost the same as or sometimes more than a complete set of meal (food and the drink). >_<

But it is way cheaper than the real Pocky.... so I don't really know whether it really is legit. Unless they somehow substituted some of the ingredients inside with cheaper alternatives. ^_^

I'm only addicted to Pocky (Strawberry flavour). Used to munch countless boxes a week, but now cut down till I haven't had any for months. Have to watch diet, too much snacking is very very bad lol.

Looks like I'll need to get one of those dolphin snacks too.

I love Pocky. When I Japan I found Seasonal Winter Pocky, it was awesome. Unfortunately I can't find them in the UK.

Also most UK Pocky outlets sell the Thai versions, which don't seem to taste as good as the Japanese versions.

Pocky are also expensive here, which means they are just for special occasion snacking, not regular snacking.

Some of those snacks you postet look like they have german siblings hehe... the cookie with choco inside could be a "Prinzen Rolle" for example. ^^;
(thats two wheat cookies with choco between them)
I have one drawyer of my desk ONLY for sweets... there you can find everything from cookies, chips up to fruity stuff - depends a lot on the season and my mood though.
Can't work without something to eat besides. ^^;;;
Best example is how bad i play Go when my mouth isn't occupied... i used to play Go tournaments with a lot of chupachups (lolipops), did help me a lot with thinking... somehow... weird, but true.

We have a lot of snacks in the US. That's probably why we're so obese (59 million Americans weigh 30 or more pounds than what they should really weigh)

Since I'm not very active, I tend to have snacks that are less in calories. We have a brand called "100 Calorie Snack Packs" which are basically snacks that equate to 100 calories. I found these are the snacks that taste a lot like the actual product, while not ingesting a high amount of calories.

If I absolutely must have a snack, I'll either have Doritos, Cheese Doodles, Sour Cream & Onion potato chips (or Pringles), cookies, a small slice of Entenman's cake, ice pops, or vanilla pudding.

I'm sure there are more things I snack on, but that's all I can think of now.

If you buy J-snacks at all, you'll find that the portion sizes GREATLY differ from that of our gut-busting american counterparts. The first time I was in Japan, I was stunned whenever my host father took us out to get snacks and got a tiny package of like 4 2-bar Kit Kats and a 1 Liter bottle of Sprite for basically the whole family.

This is my all time favourite snack: http://www.ohgamja.co.kr/ it's called "Oh! Gamja" and it's a potato snack shaped like a chip but hollow.

Burger Rings would be my second favourite. I'll get back to you which is my Japanese snack of choice...

How about Angel Pie Danny? I really enjoy those a lot.

I have a weakness for Cheetos. Usually I buy the baked Cheetos since many of the regular types upset my stomach. Not too many other snacks I enjoy now. Snacks here taste too salty, too greasy and just too much everything.

Hmmm snack for dolphin.. me wants it too!

Anyways, I also buy japanese snacks every now and then... but they cost me a lot.

You know, it's japanese price plus taxes and transportation... so it's a luxury item here.
But nothing better to enjoy with green tea or a japanese meal.

Well, in Brazil we have lots and lots and lots of snacks. Though luxury items... more refined snacks are kinda rare.

We have the cheaper stuff. And lots of variety.

You know, Brazil should be called the "food country". I know some japanese who came to Brazil and were completely surprized with the prices and stuff we have here.

For instance: Fresh fruits like melons, bananas and pineapples, which are kinda expensive in Japan, are some of the cheapest food items in Brazil.

Chocolates... well, we have some expensive stuff here, but there are also cheaper chocolates which comes in huge bars.

Not to mention barbecues, "feijoada", and some other stuff.

Like I mentioned on some other topic, if there's something I'll miss not having if I move to Japan, is the brazilian food...

Are "traditional" Brazilian restaurants really those that have people that bring meat out on swords and serve it to you at your table? There's a restaurant around here that my friends and I go to occasionally that is called "The Green Forest" and they claim to be traditionally Brazilian, and they do the sword thing, and I don't doubt its authenticity, it is a unique way to eat (though I don't necessarily care for chicken hearts >< ). Also there's a drink they serve there that's supposedly cherry flavored that tastes like paste did in 1st grade. ^^;

Really, Lotte is Korean? But all of their products are so, so 日本的! I mean c'mon, who else but the Japanese would name almonds and chocolate 'Ghana'? =P Everytime I went to the local and only Japanese food store around here I used to buy a box of Lotte's Custard Cake, but for some reason they stopped carrying them. Now I just buy the seasonal flavor of Koala March and some Yukimi daifuku filled with ice cream, and that works just as well. ^^

Just bought some fruit jelly snack from Costco. I think it's mainly potato chips, cookies, ritz and similar snacks in US. There are also some Korean markets here so I can get Korean snacks as well but I'm sometimes afraid of eating them due to the expiration date. Korean snacks get imported from Korea and I heard sometimes they fake the expiration date x_x

Honestly, I prefer the Japanese snacks. Mainly the junk food xD
I never really liked Pocky, it always seemed plain even with the strawberry and chocolate frosting.

despite being a sloth and spending too much free time on the net and in front of the teli, i try to stay away from snacks especially the sweet ones. i prefer snacking on bananas and mangoes. if craving hits, then it's the potato chips for me. :)

I like chocolate Pocky better than the strawberry kind (that stuff is ok in small batches). The best kind IMO is the chocolate and coconut Pocky. :)

Pocky aside, I love those tako and Kimchi/shrimp crackers.
