Some of you may have already read at MegaTokyo and Anime News Network about MegaTokyo's acquisition of dannychoo.com.
A few words from Fred Gallagher below after the jump.

I am thrilled that our acquisition of dannychoo.com has closed.
With dannychoo.com, MegaTokyo now has the ability to use dannychoo.com's Mirai Gaia platform to launch localized versions of MegaTokyo with ease enabling us to make MegaTokyo a truly global household brand name.

As you may already know, MegaTokyo with the help of Japanese publisher Kodansha will be releasing Japanese language titles of MegaTokyo. dannychoo.com's Mirai Gaia web application will enable us to instantly create not only Japanese but French, Spanish and other localized online communities with a push of a button and at extremely low cost due to the automation and artificial intelligence systems available in the platform.

This acquisition also means that we will be able to bring you even more MegaTokyo - 3 times a day! The automation tools of the Mirai Gaia platform mean less time preparing content and more time available to do the illustrations.
We will also be working with Azami Yuko sensei to pro actively introduce Mirai-chan into MegaTokyo as one of Piro's secret admirers.
All the MegaTokyo websites will be merged into a global site entitled "Gaia Tokyo" and the user database for Mega Tokyo and dannychoo.com will be merged together to form an account that we are calling "Orion."

Danny will continue to serve as website manager of dannychoo.com for the forseeable future and will be reporting directly to me.

You can read this message and more at MegaTokyo. A further press announcement by Kodansha will be released later today.

I met Fred a while ago when he was in talks with my comrades at Kodansha. We discussed the business opportunities of the acquisition and agreed that it was in the interests of the users to go ahead with the move.

For dannychoo.com this means that the 5.1 million USD will be used to further develop the Mirai Gaia platform which will enrich the user experience and increase discoverability features for the first time visitor.

For those who read MegaTokyo regularly will notice how Fred (kind of) dropped a hint about our parnership by sketching me in armor in "A Better Choice" below.

Please don't be alarmed at this move as you can rest assured that the schedule of figures, office tours and other otaku shenanigans will continue live from Tokyo by me ^^;
I would like to thank all who made this possible and especially thank readers of dannychoo.com.
First time here?

Well, if I had to choose one of the suspicious post we had today and yesterday, I'ld go with this one for been an april fool joke. :P

And well, I used to read Megatokyo back when it started but after a while it lost the spark I liked about it and stopped reading it since it had became too boring for me. ^^;

I kind of like Megatokyo for its story. Its been a while since i havent read any for the last 4 years or so. Have the paperback versions (volume 1-4) of the e-comic but i dont have the latest one (Volume 5).

My only gripe about the comic is the slow development. But others think otherwise.

Congrats on the aquisition...

(hold a milli-sec, this better NOT be an April 1 Prank... XD).

Oiiiiiiii Danny! I'm surprised and much disappointed you ended being on the losing side and that you accepted the contract without even trying to discuss prices and conditions! How much amount of money for the bribing?

I'm sure that if we create a special fund we will buy you back as well as your company! Yeah, we will save you!
...No, in the name of Suzumiya Haruhi, please don't tell me you ended broke buying a share of Nitroplus, that the latter went bankrupt and that you have been bought for a piece of bread!
It's...impossible! Nooooooooooo~!!

I was certain that with your funds and resources it would be YOU that would have absorbed them for breakfast. How far from the truth I was... Why has it to happen? Why?! why!!!

Comrades, let us take arms! We will not let this injustice seize this community anymore!
Fight the Power!!*

Lol~ I'm sure it's just Danny's roundabout way of mentioning that MegaTokyo will be implementing the Mirai Gaia platform, for their website, in the near future ;p~
On another note, while I realise MegaTokyo is pretty popular (though generally amongst newbie anime fans), it's just never managed to capture my attention... the illustrations don't look eastern enough to relate it to anime or manga. Regardless, I wish you all the best~!

I'd try to contain manly tears though.
"It was a fun ride, sayonara" would be my words.
