I program, I game, and I program games, lol. Well, I'm still learning to program games, but I do that nonetheless.
A little lost from all that tech talk there.. I think we can get cheaper DVDs hear though.. Anyone can confirm this? ^^;
*Desktop: Grace Mini Tower case Celeron D 2.66Ghz 1Gb ddr2 ram 80gb hdd Nvidia Geforce 5500 256mb -Desktop for downloading anime, music, word processing, etc. *Laptop: Acer Aspire 4710 Core Duo 1.66Ghz 2Gb ddr2 ram 80gb hdd Intel GMA 950 - For developing/updating website, graphics designing, etc.
Looks so much fun, if I was there, I would be wasting so much of my time just window shopping!
yah, Yodobashi stores r huge. i remember going to the huge Yodobashi almost everyday when I was in Osaka. first day i got a memory card reader and the last day my wife got another DS. will be keeping an eye out for the can noodles next time i'm back in japan!
using 4 sticks of Corsair cheap 1GB RAM, real cheap when I got them. Waiting for my new Geforce 9600GT to ship to my house too, can't wait to try it! Danny, how much are the ultra thin LAN cables there? They work like conventional LAN cables right?
Hmmm cool nice to see the electric stores of Akihabara than the anime stores I forget it is a meca for electronics as well as anime and otaku stuff.
4 GB total, forgot the brand names since I used two of one and two of the other. Was planning to edit vids, but I never complained about extra RAM for gaming, which also needs about as much. Vista will probably support up to 8 GB though.
I recently got a 3Gzh Athlon X2 with 2 gigs of Ram and a Geforce 8600 Videocard. And the most demanding game I've got is StarCraft: Broodwar Expansion :P But it does cut render times down by half compared to my other machine, which I plan to upgrade when my budget allows. To Chong Mizunaga, cheaper DVD's in Malaysia? Are we talking of original DVD's or "casual copies"? :) Casual copies are pretty cheap here, something like US$1.50 each. Original DVD's cost pretty much the same as elsewhere in the world I guess.
I dont know what type of OS are you using, but only 64bit OS handles more than 3.6x giga ram.
Currently my desktop is using 2GB ram, upgraded it from 1GB in order to play Hellgate: London; before was for World of Warcraft but have since quitted. However now my desktop is mainly for surfing, downloading and watching anime, maybe the occasional eroge (Still on TH2AD). Should be getting a new laptop in about 4 months time when I enter University, and it's main role would be for using engineering product design softwares like AutoCAD, Pro.Engineer and SolidWorks etc. Since it'll be high 3D graphics workload, would most likely need 4GB ram or more I guess. I just love designing/inventing new things from scratch ^^.
My pc: Abit IP-35E (BIOS FW14-B5) Intel E6750 2.4ghz (Overclocked to 3.2ghz) Geforce 8800GTS 320MB (Overclocked) 2pcs PC-800 1 gig mem (Forgot the name) 320 gig WD Sata HDD 160 gig Seagate IDE HDD (Backups) LG Sata DVD+/-RW Antec P180-B (Black Casing) * For gaming purposes, anime, vids, etc... all in all.. entertainment system.. Webdev and development is on my laptop with Intel centrino 1.7 and 1 gig mem with 100 gig drive... good enough for work, still old laptop =(
50 Mitsubishi DVD-R for less than 1500円!? let's count Indonesian price, one piece is Rp. 5000 including discount so 50 pieces would be Rp. 250,000 <- approx. 3125円 Price difference has left me in despair ( ゚ Д゚)
To Nightshade, Chong Mizunaga was probably thinking about blank DVD's. I buy my usual 30-pack of Sony DVD+R's for an equivalent of 1,330 yen, so it's more expensive than in Japan but on the other hand I buy 1-16x compatible when Danny's Mitsubishi are 1-8x only (probably some old stock lying in a depths of Akiba warehouses :) ).
Well right now the Mac Pro has 2Gig of ram but plan on upgrading that soon to 6Gig in order to have Parallels run windoze better. I use the computer for a bit of everything from web surfing and anime watching to photo and video editing.
Two gigs for day to day stuff on my main machines (Intel iMac, AMD64, MacBook Pro), but I really feel the constraints when I run my VMs or run Adobe CS products. I really need four gigs at those times, but usually two gigs gets me by. 512 megabytes in my workstation at home, but all I use it for is web surfing and watching standard definition video. Even then I occasionally pine for more. My Linux webserver usually gets by fine with 256 megabytes. My first server only had 24 megs, and for long after I got by on 32 megs! Simpler times. The new Mac Pro at the office has eight gigs for crunching numbers and running virtual machines, but I let the new network admin adopt it away from me to do his number crunching. Danny, do you have an opinion on VMWare versus Parallels, or have you not investigated? I need Windows for development and doing web QA in IE6+, but I've only ever used VMWare. VMWare Fusion works beautifully, but I've never used Parallels.
I"m too poor to get a laptop, so I use a shared computer; 80G worth of crap that I never thought I had. ... If I ever manage to get my sorry @ss to Akihabara, I'll make sure to get my hands on all the eroge I can carry. Enough of the land of the deprived!! T[]T
Please release Idolm@aster to either 360 or PS3 in english. ;_;
I use 2GB of ram right now but will upgrade if I ever decide to switch to Vista (who knows when that'll be...). The worst part about building pc's is when you check back 2 months later on all the hardware you bought and it's all cheaper T_T.
why does Rui Kiriyama has such a big chest on the mag? by the way, she looks much better in person.
I have 1GB of RAM on my desktop PC which is used mainly for web surfing, downloads etc. My Macbook has 4GB of RAM DVDs costs about the same here in Singapore
I use a measly 512 MB, but plan to go to about 2-4 GB when I save up enough to buy a new pc
Oh man, those eva posters/scrolls WANT! Anyone know where to get those or other big eva ones?^^;; I'm using 2gb ram. Mainly using my machine for watching anime, playing world of warcraft, webdesign, and the typical internet abuse^^;
Has There ever been a none Japanese Idol? Or at least Not Asian? If so, I plan to be the first gaijin Idol!
5% 16+Gb? WTF is that? Ahhh, these pics makes me nostalgic.. even though I've been on Japan less than 2 years ago, but still. How happy would I be being able to spend my sunday afternoons on akiba... Cheap-o DVDs indeed. In Brazil you pay twice as that... The only good part of me not being able to go to Akiba on weekends is that, I'd probably loose control of my accounts, and end up having a huge problem with $okane$. You see... I'm planning on buying a nice amateur HDD camera right now. But still didn't buy it because it's way too expensive in Brazil, and I can get cheaper when I get back to my hometown, a month from now aprox. If I lived in Japan, I'd probably already bought it, realised I almost won't use it, put it on the back of some drawer, and finally proceeding to the next useless gadget on my list. :P
Danny, you tried VMWare Fusion? I hear it integrates more with the computer so it looks just like you are actually running Windows applications on the Mac and not in a virtual machine. http://vmware.com/products/fusion/
Hmmmmmmmmmm..........MILF.......(does a Homer Simpson impression) huh? Im currently using a computer with: 3.6GHz CPU 200GBs HDD Split C: 40GBs/ D: 160GBs 1GB of RAM and an ATI X550 series graphics card pretty crap huh?
btw: don't u have BOOTCAMP on your mac danny? itts like running LINUX on a PC
Currently using a 2GB for my 3 year old desktop and 512K for my 2 year old Laptop. I want a new PC... ^^; Last time that there was a sale here in LA, i got a 100 DVD-R for $20. That was cheap to me.
I'm running 2 gigs on my rig right now. As soon as I upgrade to vista or decide to start running linux then I may stick in another 2 gigs :p. I still can't see me buying a mac =/, seems to be the same thing as windows with prettier things and less compatibility to me. Also, dvd-rs are about the same price here, same as the HDs and memory. I usually use newegg.com when I buy comp parts, they're based here in Cali.
I had to lol at the picture of the english release of Gibo no Toki. . . .
I have a 6-year old P4 that uses 768MB of ram. It's rather weak but motherboard is old so no use upgrading with newer memory. I want to upgrade my machine all together so I get faster performance. DVDR is pretty cheap nowadays. I do remember the days they used to be expensive and I went to computer convention with vendors that would sell them in bulk for cheap. I remember my first day in Akihabara, it was Sunday too. My kohai from high school in USA took me to Akihabara and it was the greatest thing ever. Since I was with him, I could not go full shopping mode so I just looked around and dig thru 100yen doujinshi bin in Tora no Ana store. Then next day on, full shopping mode on +_+
well... where do i start???? My laptop came with 1Gb ram but i upped it to 2, my main PC also has 2Gb of ram. a rather old PII system i use as a crappy throw together basic net machine runs 512mb. & my back up system currently has no ram :D - I sold it when i ran out of cash but it did have 1Gb before that went to a new home. & my dads pc runs 1Gb & the percentage that says they use more then 8Gb or Ram are just liars trying to look flash
street fighter 4....the envy! as for specs: 1gb in my main windows desktop, 4gb in my vaio nb, 386mb in my g3 ibook^^
im waiting to buy armored core 4 answer T-T first thing i go to japan will be on the 21st and go to the game store. i hope they sell emm
Running 2 gigs which is good enough for now. If I have a windows vista 64bit, I will run fully 8 gigs ^____^
running 4GB RAM on my desktop and just factory specs on my notebook. need the extra RAM for drawing and CGing, photoshop and painter can freeze up when you're working with a big canvas. anyway. sundays in akihabara, i've noticed you've done a lot of those, so why not start a new category? sort of like a week in tokyo. i used to be a tech otaku and had to always have the latest gadgets, but not so much anymore, turn over rate for computer tech is too high, and i find it better to invest my money on anime related merchandise.
why would anyone require > 16gigs of ram on their pasokon...
I so want to go there now!!! Akihabara is going to be the first place I go when I go to Japan!!!
O M G Street Fighter IV looks great :D I want to see M. Bison though :P
I'm still using 512MB (=_=), but my new computer will get 8GB. ^^
used 30GB for RAM for a school assignment/experiment on my PC still using 18GB 64bit XP user here
Just have 2gb of RAM in my laptop. I had 2.5gb in my PC, but I just recently sold that to my friend since I barely touch it anymore...miss the better GFX :[ lol
I got 3GB Ram in my machine. I use it for mostly light gaming and everything else I need. I usually like to have a lot of applications open at once so 3GB and a dual-core do most everything I need it to do. Also my laptop has 2GB in it.
I have 6GB(1GBx6) in my machine which I use for some hardcore gaming and multitasking to the extreme. As of now, both of my laptops use 2GB and they work out just fine. DVD-Rs in America are decently priced, 50 runs for about 20USD. I have a stack of 25, but I don't tend to use them often unless I'm burning up some movies, etc. Man, I wished I lived in Japan! It seems like such a cool place, I've always been dreaming on living in Japan since about middle school. Now, it seems out of my reach, but I'll make it work somehow. =D
I assume all of you know that if you are running 32 bits Vista or XP the max amount of memory is 3GB.
Yes, 64bit is the way to go...there's just not that much support for it out there though which is why most of the time I get stuck with 32bit OSs. I have 1.5GB in my laptop and 2GB in my pc. I use a mainly XP and other XP/Linux VMs for testing/QA. I spend most of my time browsing this site, engadget, email and programming. ^^ I wish dvdrs around here were as cheap as the one you bought danny. Ours cost a bit more. Oh yah, Kitkat in a can? never heard that before. lol.
isn't yodobash cheaper, when it comes down to regular gunpla? I mean HG 1/144 Exia for 500 yen or so with my card? Wtf? It's harder to find the special one's, but still, that is dirt cheap...
siulay, as far as I know, memory depends on your processor (not windows) If your processor is an IA-32 (32 bits in your adress buffer), your max memory can be 2^32 = 4 gb (not 3 :P), im not sure If IA-64 can be found yet (not at my country) wich can give you 2^64 = 16 exab. Well, at least thats what they teach us in my country (telecommunications last year, but hell ya, maybe Im wrong about it)
i'm still with 1gb ram, but have to upgrade soon since I'm doing a lot of 3d rendering now
I have 2gb on my laptop and home pc. ironically my office computer runs on 512k. ^^; was thinking of upgrading it, but since I just run visual Foxpro programs, microsoft word and excel on it, thought I wouldn't need that much ram on it anyway. ^^
I still can't read "Calpis" without snickering.
Unfortunately, I traded a friend my old monitor for a Gig of memory, but it doesn't fit in my motherboard :( Calpis? Love the stuff. I think it's one of the few things I like that I can find at the Asian Markets here.
2GB of DDR3 Ram. With Windows XP Media center edition.
windows xp pro edition with 1gb + 512 ram
512MB PC133 rams... I only surf the web and watch animes only.
16GB lol... for my "memory hog" games like TES IV:Oblivion and COD4 all on high graphics plus some multitasking while that happens....
i'm using 4GB PC2-5300 DDR2 RAM. computer comes with 2GB but bought another 2GB since they are so cheap. but my 32 bit windows vista only display 3326MG under my computer. called up Dell helpdesk and found that vista will not display full 4GB but reassured me it the CPU is running on 4GB. o really? :-/
both my laptop and my machine at home has a 1GB of RAM and i can't find a single retailer here that carries a stick of RAM with more than 2GB of memory ^^;;;;; blank DVDs here are cheap and it costs at the most around Php9.00 each (and that's around 23 yen each) ^^
I will take a couple MILFs please. Maybe two or three.. hardrive?? Yes, that might come in handy.
@DRAGUN would you like fries with that?
How much does 2g memory cost in akihabra for labtops? How much did those cost you?
qingy, Maybe some whipped cream. Or nutella.. havent tried nutella in a while. Any other suggestions? Oh, I know. BACON. Ill take a side of Bacon with my MILFs: http://www.ebaumsworld.com/pictures/view/123776/
1468 yen for 50 DVD-R is not a bad deal at all. I can see that the Hong Kong market is quite competitive compared to the Japanese (if you know where to get cheap stuff that is). And Danny when you said you just got one for the same price, would that be from the lovely good ol' UK? (lol) Overall I'd say that prices are comparable to the prices in Wanchai or Mongkok of Hong Kong. Don't want to talk about computer experience as I've lost 3 laptops already...
DRAGUN yea, everyone loves bacon, if you don't like bacon, you're a nazi...
