Never really got round to taking decent pics of this Noriko Takaya figure by Kotobukiya until recently.
For those who are not familiar, Noriko stars in the excellent oldie Top Wo Nerae - Gunbuster. A clip of Noriko in action below.
I think this was my third figure - the first being Aya Natsume from Tenjo Tenge and the second being DOA Kasumi.
Nearly forgot to mention that one of these pics is in the Wallpaper pool together with a pic of the Primaries.
For those who don't know what the Wallpaper Tool does - it makes wallpaper of any size up to the original size of photo. It also detects your screen size too.
I remember liking this figure so much that I took it home from work on the weekends ^^;
The blue pointy thing is a miniature version of the Exelion that appears in the anime.
Paintwork and sculpt fantastic it is. Lively is the pose which happy it makes you.
Cute bottom has Noriko-chan.
While I liked Nono in the second Top wo Nerae series "Diebuster", the original "Gunbuster" series was more enjoyable I thought.
The face cute is very.
You can remove Noriko from the base which will leave a big gaping hole in her leg.
This figure initially came out as a garage kit many many years ago and finally as a PVC a few years back. I remember member AndyH was able to get hold of one in Akihabara when he was over so if you want one too then Akiba is a good place to start. Nakano Boradway may have some too.
First time here?
If you are new here, you may want to keep up with more of the same via RSS or Danny's other networks. (dont show again)

I haven't seen either series, but I did notice both series on DVD at my local Fry's Electronics. Should I pick them up? If so, which one should I buy (first)?

On topic, the figure looks pretty nice, except the part about the stand holding her up by inserting the stand into her leg.

i haven't even seen gunbuster yet, but it's next on my list! I've been wanting this figure for, oh i don't know, forever!!! I saw the bome one today but she doesn't compare to this kotobukiya one, but sadly it's practically impossible to find down here, and the only place that might have it is Ebay but you run the risk of getting a bootleg :'(

i've watched the classic Gunbuster in raw (no subs) at a japanese cable channel before and i've really enjoyed the super robot series even though i didn't understand a word of it ^^;;;;;

maybe i could grab a torrent of the DVD (and with subs) that has been floating around the internets and go nostalgia tripping ^^

The wallpaper tool is awesome, it'd be great if it were available for every picture you put on the site!

It'd be even better if we could cut, crop, & copy (edit) the images!

The ending of Gunbuster was epic.
Oh, you'll understand the ending of Diebuster after watching Gunbuster.

Yay! I LOVE this figure!
I was SO pleased when i managed to find it. It was in a small store in the Akiba radio kaikan building, at an extortionate price, but i paid it anyway - i HAD to get it when i first saw it on here years ago.
Thing is, in all my subsequent trips, and to nakano broadway, ive never seen it anywhere else.

Its a super cute figure - love the pose and build quality. Its right up there with mirei-san and the MF kasumi for my all time fave figure.

As for the poll, i voted gunbuster. It was a little cheesy, but quite epic. I did love the character design and animation for diebuster, but the story wasnt as good methinks. Great theme tune courtesy of round table though.
I want a decent figure of nono in her pilot uniform!

Isn't it the girl that is sometimes featured in certain "bouncy bouncy eyes of anime" videos?
I also wanted to say the same thing that pireze said, but hesitated on it, then didn't comment earlier. Guess the true meaning of her gesture is "You see how strong I can be!" ^^

Ah yes, Noriko invented that bounce! Gunbuster was in fact the very first anime to introduce bouncy eyes as fanservice. It is sometimes reffered to as the Gainax bounce.

I was so accustomed to seeing it in the background of your desk shots that I'd almost forgotten about it =/

Looking at the clips, one could compare Gunbuster to Gurren Langann?

Sorry to say that I'm not THAT old-school to have seen GUNBUSTER, but I was recently made more aware of how to distinguish the mech itself. In any case, the figure looks great in the sunlight - great details and all - but I suppose I don't have a soft spot for Noriko, even after watching the second clip. I guess I have to really like a character to ignore such things as not liking the facial design.

Currently hoping for a Tomoyo Sakagami PVC most of all...

Nice pictures. Some seams in her legs though are very noticable.

I would be new to Gunbuster (I'm a Diebuster fan)... I did just purchase the new figure of Noriko made by WAVE and I couldn't pass that one up. she is smaller but looks great. Posted some pictures at figure.fm.

Nothing can outdo a Sato "Hal" Mikimoto heroine. Very Moe in my opinion. This was very daring outfit design when the OVA first came out.

The arm pump -for lack of a better expression- means something along the lines of, "OK, lets go do it!" and/or "We can do it because we are ready!"

I like Noriko in Top 1, but overall collection of characters, I think Top 2had was better. In a way though, I wish Top 2 didn't warp like a million or so years into the future to match the story of the First one.

But if you are to show the video of how great noriko is, shouldn't you do the fight scene in episode 5? At least in that one, you get to see the various attack of Gunbuster....

Top Wo Nerai all the way!!

Top 2 was ok, but lacked some of the magic of the first show, and the awesome moments never reached the levels of Top 1, like when you first see the Super Inazuma Kick or buster beam.

second hand from a member of old Figure.fm and at a fair price. She is the first and still the best of Noriko's PVCs. And the original Gunbuster is the best one!
