AkibaMap brings us coverage of Akiba Girls Dormitory [[Akiba Jyoshi Ryo]あきば女子寮] - a bit like the maid cafes without the food. Well you can bring your own food but they charge you an extra 500 yen - for bringing *your own food*! Not much different than a slap in the face with a wet dog.
Below: The dormitory is an office done up to look like a dorm filled with girls bedrooms.
- 1,680 yen - "Normal" course (Sit with girl in her room and talk)
- 2,000 yen - "Lil Massage" course (Girl massages your shoulders on your way out)
- 2,300 yen - "Deluxe" course (Girl massages your shoulders and hands - make sure to wipe your hands clean of soldiers before)
- 1,000 yen - "Normal" course for girls (for girls who are "girls-love" types)
- 1,500 yen - Girls photo course - you can wear the girls costumes and take photos.
If you want to play games like "paper scissors stone" with the girl then they charge you a measly 200 yen extra. Thats not all folks, they have more extras to add to the bill which should hopefully bleed the otaku dry of their money as follows.
- 1,000 yen - "Koromo Gae" - pay this to get the girl to change into a costume.
- 1,000 yen - Chekki - "Chekki" is a product (by fuji film I think) - a bit like an instant poloroid camera. Pay this to have a pic with the girl. Then take the pic and show your friends who your new girlfriend is.
- 1,000 yen - "Renai Manga" - "Renai" means "Romance." The girl will read you a romantic manga - you are not allowed to have your hands in your pocket while she reads.
- 1,000 yen - "Binta" - a "Binta" is a slap to the face. Yes! pay to be slapped in the face by a girl in pajamas!
- 1,000 yen - Pay extra to have your shoulders massaged for longer.
- Dont take your own photos - or the dorm manager will 'confiscate' your camera (they can try).
- Dont touch the girls - especially their eyes.
- Dont tease the girls - especially the size of their eyes.
- Dont ask the girl for private mail address or phone number.
- Dont ask the girls personal questions (what color are your pantsu etc).
- Dont run amok (what sort of rule is that?)
- Dont bring glass bottles (which you may break and hold the dorm girls hostage)
- Drunk or members belonging to violent groups are not allowed. Violent group members are easily spotted because they have "I am a violent group member" written on their foreheads.
- Depending on how busy they are, they may chuck you out after 1 - 2 hours.

I'm very very serious about this: I love akiba, but I would never go to a place like "girls bedroom"... Private dances are way more fun, and the girls really touch you, get to kiss them, and way more ^^ (I don't want to sound a pervert, but I'm mexican, so what can I do xD)

Well this is certainly interesting... I can't imagine paying money to do this, I think it's better to actually get a girlfriend...then again when you think about how much a girlfriend costs, this isn't so bad after all! :P

I could imagine masochists paying for binta (slap in the face), some people like tough love. Waste of good money if you ask me. I'd rather take a close friend with me to a maid cafe and enjoy the conversation and ambiance. This place must be targeting virgins or dudes who haven't been in a relationship close enough to merit being beside a girl in her pyjamas. Dirty, old, lecherous men could also be potential customers. This thing kind of reminds me of Geisha...you go in there not necessarily to have sex but to be entertained. Its like exactly how a geisha would entertain men with poetry, playing a shamisen, casual conversation about the weather, etc. Now replace the kimono w/ pyjamas; ditch the shamisen for a Wiimote; and instead of remarking to the geiko about how beautiful the cherry blossoms are, tell the gyaru about how awesome the latest episode of .

Hmm... I find it less interesting than the "ear-cleaning (with non-official wax drinking)" or "massage by maids" services... As always, there is the issue of time and differential prices depending on the service offered, but the latter are not even interesting. Let's take for example: - You can't touch them but sure they can slap you silly for a crazy price. - If you are a Janken Master and beat them at it, you can't even tease them. That's bitter victory for you. - They stir you up with romantic manga, but you sure must stay at a distance and refrain from thinking that love will blossom between you and her. Guess that if you're looking for true love, this surely is not the place to be. ^^ And please don't tell me there are surveillance cameras installed. That would take the cake. ^^;

Is it odd to have the hobby of otakudom, collecting figures of bishoujo and such, and also have quite a few pretty "3D" female friends and the occasional girlfriend? A lot of the surveys and articles and comments allude to a (not meaning to sound insulting at all mind you) singleness and not really associating with females in real life and such. I love just about anything in the realm of otakudom, and I also happen to be friends with more gals than guys (and yes I'm heterosexual =P ). Unless some or all of this is facetious....
