very sad and lonely... I feel.
Oh no!!!! The otaku myth is getting me too!!!
haha i have not been tainted yet.... *looks around* ahhhhh!!! i'm being drawn to it... i can't stop it!!
Hey Danny, are one of these photos yours? xD;
a bit weird, but hey each to his own.
or her (?) .. I want to eat Ramen now
Man that is pretty terrible. And this is coming from a garage kit/manga otaku.
This is not possible, these guys should go to a psyc XD. Hum the question is a hard one. Otaku is a term used to refer to people with obsessive interests especially on anime and manga. Since I'm not obsessed with anime and manga, I only care most part for the art itself and a good story in animes so I don't consider myself an Otaku.
I think all the photos are from the same guy..Lol.. *just kidding*..
i was thinking near that cause the theme of the pictures are obbviously the same but the elements are amusingly the same: 1. chicken leg cooked in 2 variations 2. wine 3. lots of cake 4. and the occasional pasta
And the funny thing is, this doesn't seem all that rare anymore. I remember Danny posting about this maybe a year ago, and at the time there were only like 3 pictures (Though it could've been that he just didn't bother posting that many at the time). With this many pictures, it's starting to look like a new trend in Japan.
Lol....good for them. I guess I "technically" do this. I like to watch anime when I eat lunch lol, but nothing as extreme as to eat "with" what I see on a screen.
I'm pretty sure (not really, actually) the guy doesn't do this. In any case, if I was having a dinner with wine with Louise, I'd watch out... It would probably make her more tsun tsun
oh my gosh??? Salute..
I'd prefer to dine with somebody who I can talk to and listen from. Exchange smiles and words and actually see them eat my cooking or I eat their cooking :D But hey, some actually looks aright in the photo 'cept the chicken drumsticks... o.O How many here do that?
*ROFL* Ah Danny, sometimes your humor just kills me. I laugh so hard my nuts hurt... oh wait, that's from something else. Anyhow, the gf came over to see was so funny, and didn't quite see the humor in it when I jokingly said "maybe I should get one of those". Evident by the smack upside my head. It's love.
LOL that is just wrong. Its more fun to eat with a bunch of people than facing the PC
But these guys have their merit, dont you think??
What's up with that hunk of meat that has a handle on it? I see two pictures containing them, one of which even has a piece of plastic attached? Is this something Japanese butchers do?
Sometimes I feel sorry for these Otaku's.
wow, that's an impressively scary number of those types of photos. Never knew it was that widespread. BTW, at least one of the above pics is actually a guy! I'll leave the others to sweat it over which one (or more) it may be.
HAHA! That is some collection of pictures you've got there! So funny! Yea, I haven't seen the meat with the plastic thing on it before.. hmm..
wow, i feel truly sad for these people. btw, whats with that one picture where the food is sitting on top of a wacom? i would never do that to my wacom under any circumstances.
the obvious next step is to combine this practice with some kind of motion sensor and a follow-me flash movie, such as the haruhi/mikuru/yuki ones on the website for the haruhi psp game, so you can dine with someone who follows your movements.
it's kinda disturbing actually. kinda... ('~')
This is making me second guess my life style.. is this the next level otaku or pretty common? ^^; I'd rather have one Candy Girl than dinner with 4 pillows :D
Awesome, i did laugh a tear. ^o^ (in a positive way) All those pictures with cake... and exspecialy with strawberrys... now i want one too. Thanks for those pics Danny, just registered to say thanks lol... been stalking the site for a while longer already.
I don't know...whats more disturbing, the chocolate curry or this.
@EpicSky you've obviously never tried chocolate curry before, it's actually very good, try it sometime
LOL, this just justifies the fact that otaku not being able to get girls is completely correct...
lol, I'm sure whoever did this must mean it as a joke.
Well, they really tried, but I think its the awful truth..
wow, pros. Now i only know can have this way, GOOD JOB ! BTW, after see all the food in the picture, now feel extremely hungry ...
there should be more otaku girls so that we otaku guys can get girlfriends. ('~')
is this phenomena real or just for show? If it is real the people who do this will probably find the guy running down the street with panties on his head quite normal. see Dannychoo-"Naked in Akihabara" the disturbing part is I've seen many other picture like this.
so the myth is true?
Damn. My photos have been found.
mmmMmmM chocolate soup lol
I got the feeling like as though they are offering food to the dead i.e Hungry Ghost Festival.
I feel damn sad for those guys. Wow, I can comment by itouch! Cool
Words cannot express how sad this is... DX
I don't know whether to laugh or to cry at the sadness of it.
Well, it makes for less competition for all the eligible girls out there. Take it for the team boys! Even if it's unintentional.
alright, danny, you just made me in despair coz i still got no girlfriend till now... ...and yes, i'm an otaku...
That's kinda sad really.
so who clears the second share at the end? o.O
This is kind of a big LOL, tickled my funny bone. Interesting idea =x
Times like this I am reminded why I am still an girlfriend-less otaku (^_^')
Ehhh this is a hard one to answer for the poll- at best "Otakuish" tendencies. I really enjoy anime and collecting stuff such as figures and model kits from Japan, however going as deep as eroge, those pillow things (I should know what they are called! I am studying Japanese) or staying in my room all the time is just not me. I venture out of the room and socialize with people but not to a great effect- According to the Myers-Briggs test I am a 19/20 introvert with some extravert tendencies (6/20)- so I do like to talk with people and socialize when they arn't being idiots. Am also in the same category with many who have no boyfriend or girlfriend. I never played the dating game in high school and I won't start now in college; I am waiting for that right time and that right moment to meet that 1 woman out of 3,000,000.000 of 'em. As lonely as that is I push on and hold onto that value that my day is someday. Until then I push on with my studies. I have sympathy yet share a curious interest with the Otaku mind. Anime is awesome and I think I will enjoy it for life: however Eroge and all this "deep" deep stuff is not really my game. I can understand the otaku mind, yet at the same time I can venture around and try to make the best of my current situation. Thats not to say otaku don't make the best of their situation- I make the best of my situation how I see fit. Power to otaku!
ummm....
*speechless* ^_^
Shame I can't bust out the dakimakura at my parents house. At least I can share a moment with Kaede on my PC come Christmas, though.
got no GF here too TOT, but i rather be alone than getting noisy GF the guy who make this photo is either got to many heartbreak, already refuse the real life girl, or just having fun ^_^
HOLY CRAP... lol You know... they should make eroge dakimakura, but for girls. Like with sexy guys on them instead. ;D
a little bit disturbing, but then again no one is perfect. I still consider myself an Otaku since I have GUNPLA, my Japanese friend(who is female) says its "KI-Moe" or bad, but then again she calls most people on campus otaku since they don't dress like people in harajuku or Ikeburo.. she says I am Shinjuku cuz i wear my suit like "sara-ri-man" .
I consider myself an otaku but I think I would stop being one if it gets to this level.
That's sad to see. Well, if they are glad worshipping their 2D idols, why not? Maybe have they all tried to be in in a relationship and never found happiness. If you consider this to be part of otaku-ism, please count me out. I am quite okay with my life for now and I don't think I'd do something that extreme ever in my life. By the way syrix, my friend, what you do (which I do too) is multi-tasking and nothing else. ^^
Here I'm just hoping they do it just for the gag.
im an otaku but if i ever get to this stage i hope theres someone who'll slap me back into reality period!
See? The myth is totally untrue...
You better not get my hopes up Danny. You better not. sniff-sniff ..LOL
Man...those things are kinda freaky. (0_o) Well, I guess somewhere out there, maybe there are some extremely hardcore otakus who just dont have the necessary physical and more importantly, social skills to hook up with a girl, and that can really be sad. Too much of something is really bad. and moderation and balance is key to a healthy life.
May I die? 死んでも良いですか?
I first started to learn Japanese (Japanese for Dummies!) and ended up watching anime, learning to read bunko and reading manga. Now I have three English to Japanese dictionaries, Three kanji references, two how to write kanji, two Japanese slang books and one Japanese grammar book(most looked over). I becoming an Otaku through learning Japanese. I think it is not bad but I am a bit obsessed on trying to understand this language and by doing this stuff. I think from looking from Genshiken, there are various things that a person can be called an Otaku, sports, video games, anime, etc.. Therefore it is just another word for Elvis fans ;-) I think the emphasis is on the view towards the Japanese culture obsession, but a fanboy/girl is a fanboy/girl.
Otaku and proud of it =) Now... what's this about chocolate curry? More info, recepies and... I don't know, information! It's like the best of two worlds =D
Oh god.... how has the world come to this!
I have no girlfriend currently, never had one and most likely never will have one. I might just become desperate enough to do something like that.
Well. That makes me feel very sad inside. Lucky for me I have my Haruhi-dakimakura to comfort me tonight :)
Dear God, Chrismas Cake. I coudn't quite belive about such quirky culture melange when I first have heard about it durring my class. To have a strawberry cream cake on chrismas. They even blow candles to celebrate SANTA birthday.
Well, this is certainly overkill. Even ole' radical me doesn't go to such extreme means.
I'M AN OTAKU AND I AM DAMN PROUD OF IT!!! ^____^ *prepares desktop and laptop and grabs chocolate cake* ^_______^
I own an anime store, anime fan site, going to marry a cute Euro-Asian girl, vigorously played a number of sports from hockey, football and baseball, and have modeled over here in New York. There are a number of people like me that are otaku and are NOT the stereotype. Granted, yes there are some weird people into anime that fit the stereotype of awkward, nerdy, and have bad luck with the ladies (and men) but I doubt that goes for the people here at this site ^_^. Also, extreme nerdyness in some cases is a mild form of autism so they can't help it. I am an otaku and proud of it! Don't hide it guys; my girl found me because I was into anime so anyone who has problems with the ladies, just be yourself and have confidence and you'll be fine.
I think some of those pictures are just set up for the picture. Although there may be some real ones between them ;p And yes, I consider myself otaku and I'm proud of it. And I'm trying to visit the holy ground Akihabara every year ;p
Of course I`m a otaku!! A freaking badass otaku, I must say!! Gihahaha Anyway, the photos are... something curious(?), but real persons also are interesting, and respond you when answer... :[
this might off-topic but how do i use puchi blurbs? i don't see any submit/post topic/thread
Its ok. Just type your comments in the textbox and submit your puchi blurbs.
they forgot someone or some others: candy girls
dolls are scary and too expensive for hikkikomori.
Danny, your an Otaku, yet you're married to your lovely wife. I myself am an Otuaku too, and I scored myself a lovely wife as well.^^ but lol on the pictures
My wife instead considerme an otaku, but i'm proud of it and she accepted this side of me quite well now ^^
Disturbing. Who in their right mind puts food and/or beverages on top of their Wacom? Honestly that is the artist's bread and butter. Pure madness. On another note: I think there should be different levels of Otaku-ness.
Heh, I'm the kind of guy with no GF etc, never had one etc... But even i laugh at this. Hopefully i wont end up like that. On another note: souseiseki looks cute in the last image...
XD that post is amazing. Hey did I see one guy with a daki of a certain trap named jun? kick ass XD
I LOLed at the first "three dakimakuras around a table" pic, it really looks like Tamaki wants that piece of pie. ^^
I don't get it- is this guy trying to show off his electronics? The girls? The merchandise? The food?! Either way, I'm jealous! (Though I do hope that won't become my life)
Lol, great. Now I know how I ll spend new years eve. Is this even more sick? http://www.meidocafe.jp/2007/12/16/figure-review-sos-dan-breakfast/#more-7312
No offense to anybody here that may do that, but that's just sad. I mean, sure it's okay to like anime characters, but this is blurring the line between reality and fake things.
I would be nice to have all those electronics but not using them that way.
@melonpan....no that's not sick....reminds of my ol' star wars and anime collecting days...I took breakfast whilst displaying my new figures on the dinning table ...to the greatest annoyance of my (ex-)wife...but she was an otaku too ( cindy crawford-moe )^-^
I like these "Lonely Meal" photos, they are expressive in a way. They are kind of offerings to the Moe goddesses...
@Melonpan: nah, that's a nice party starring the girls of the Haruhi series. ^^; The point is that you don't eat in front of them... They rather pose in front of you when you're eating! Sugoi, ne?
This IS kind of sad, but as long as the person doing it happy, that is all that matters. Im an otaku... but I dont think Im that bad.
Seems its 2d image over a real human-being preference again, I dont agree with its just plain unhealthy. But I dont hate the persons into this kind of thing, but you can choose how you want to live your life.
Hmmm to each his own. I would make my girlfriend cosplay in my fav character outfit. Still hmmm. I, Otaku
Although I think that's a leeetle extreme for my taste, I think it would be awesome if we can perfect virtual reality technology to make it a full surround experience (a la .hack). I think that's the next step. After all there is MMPORG.
Once again, the usual blurb - "I don't have a GF, never had one..." etc. I also have a Becky from Paniponi Dash dakimakura, a Louise cushion cover and some others coming (hopefully) today, but I don't do this. Sure, I've hugged the dakimakura, but that's what it's made for! ^^ I eat in front of the PC, but that's only because it's easier. I eat dinner at the dining table with my parents (yeah, I'm not alone!), so I'm not a room-boy, but I do spend a lot of time inside the room! ^^ I do get out a lot, but the kind of girl I'd like to become a partner with just isn't lurking around the places I go to - and any who *do* like me are much too young for me! T_T
I've heard that after the 'Densha Otoko' drama appeared on tv in Japan, it was populair for a while to have an otaku as your boyfriend.
I'm not sure if I should laugh or cry.
So ronery ;_;
What the hell is Chocolate curry?@!?!?!!?
I just saw an image of Yagami Light in there that I am not glad I saw.
This made me rofl.
lol! This cheered me up for some reason. Also made me kinda hungry...
Oooooh, now I'm hungry...
haha! love it! especially the plastic keyboard protection. . .although I'm afraid of how many times it actually came in handy.
This just made me sad, very sad.
Tragicomical gems! It certainly is a good excuse to eat twice your share. I might try it sometime. :D
OMG, I'm both jealous and saddened. What I want to know is what you do when you get something like chocolate curry on you dakimakura^^;
@Hobbes, you lick it off... oh, that didnt sound good.
LOL! Damn dude, becareful. I think you might have accidently started a new fetish.
I lol'd. That is all.
I remember these. Man, I should do one of these too lol
@FatBastard, lol, its probably not new. I bet the Japanese already have a name for it.
@Dragun, LOL that is definitely something to walk in on.
whoa whoa...chocolate curry? Is that a popular dish? I like regular curry but never heard of that lol The pictures where the guy is feeding the computer screen before/after pics were hilarious
Saber!!!!!
<3
This makes me feel so ronery :,(
Ummmm.... yeah... I'm quite speechless at this xD
~ z-omg! i know that a part of me is in otaku-mode ... but not that hardcore. gotta get a real girlfriend rather a virtual / 2D one (^_^)
don't know what to say to this xD they should get a real gf. xD
this is outrageously ridiculous!! but...the idea is somewhat genious. Imagine...15 years from now, you could go into a restaurant and there will be a real-life hologram of any girl, from any anime, waiting for you at your table, or something like that..
Is there such a person who would date with all those 2D girls in this world? He must be very hopeless with 3D girls...
This post remind me some scary memories in www.youtube.com... in Jap, there is people even married a doll... =.=" It's just beyond our imagination...
LMFAO. That's some lucky fellow there.
fun pics! i've never thought of feeding an anime character, thats great!
You can hail from any country.... claim that you're the most hardcore otaku living on the planet... And you still amount to nothing compared to Japanese otaku... XD
I don't think being an otaku on that level is a goal. It's more like something to avoid since it looks like it's a full time obsession. All full time obsessions will hurt you in the long run. I think it's good that people here still have time for jobs/studies, at least I hope that's the case :)
Saber <3
I see the female version of Uesugi Kenshin from Sengoku Rance XD
haha that's such a stereotype. As long as you're not a weirdo but still appreciate anime you can always get a girl.
Whatever these guys are, healthy ain't one of it. :S There is a limit...
I would consider myself an otaku, but I would not ever do what those people do and put in 2d stuff to watch with...EVER! I told myself if I was to be an otaku, I'd at least get an otaku girlfriend! Which is what I'm doing now...searching. But I never give up and go to the 2d side of living.
That's just scary!
An unexpected amusing post...
well I do am an otaku, but not as hardcore as those people above at the pics. What a lonely life they had...and then I feel sorry for the girls, being compared with a 2d pictures -_-
I believe a similar question was asked before and once again my answer is no. I do not consider myself an otaku. Although some of my interests lie in the same range as most otaku (anime, manga, games, etc) some are a long shot away from most otaku too (outdoor sports, 3d girls, etc). Even then, the real reason i don't consider myself an otaku happens to be my consciousness that i am no expert in any of my 'otaku' interests, let alone the others.
Been there, done that... ...seriously.
and how do you feel about that?
Not much. Did that at my birthday since now I live separately from famz and my girlfriend. Yet, I'm not planning to make a party in Singapore, it's rather expensive. ^^;; Then voila, I'm celebrating my b'day with McD set meal accompany by Nendo Shana and Nendo Nagato, not to mention the screen in my laptop is showing "Happy Birthday!" with Miku and her leeks. So ronery....LuLz.
I think some people would probably call me an otaku, but I don't really consider myself one. Yes I like anime, figures and dolls, but I don't take it to the extreme. I also don't like many otaku things like doujins, hentai, eroge games, daikimura, fantasizing over 2d girls and such. I think I'm maybe half otaku XD
Me want to change my vote!! Me not an Otaku.. I have not earned the right to be one...
So, I got this one friend who never seems to get jokes, and I showed one of these pictures to him (One using a laptop, 6th from the bottom). And his response was "So you got a new laptop?" ... yeah. He didn't even get the "ARE YOU KEN?!" comic strip either, and he's a street fighter fan.
おもしろい
I have a wife and son, does that disqualify me? I'm not ronery at all, and I wouldn't share my food with a computer screen.
lol @ the pics suggesting that she ate it =DD
I don't din w/ 2D girls, but I consider myself an otaku, an yes, I'm proud of it despite the bad meanings "Otaku" can have :3
That's why UNICEF wants to get us. They're jealous. xD
trying to be better otaky every day lol
LOL! Man.. Nobody posted on this before? I should've did it xD I have quite some number of these pics.... They're just so creative and funny at the same time. And uh, thats how my Christmas will look like.
lol, chocolate curry.
lol, i'm nursing my hopefully-going-to-be-my-girlfriend now as she has PMS while staying in my house so, no roneryness for me :P
am otaku and am keeping quite about it. oops..... ummm, forget what i said just now. flashes that brain thingie from mib. you dont know who 6pack is, and you were just watching a post on dc.com back on topic - i lol'd at the pics. hope i get a cutie gf asap.
Iam an otaku too. But I don't do THAT. O_O Man those cakes, pastry, chicken and other food makes me hungry.
Well, if it works for them, we're not in a position to say anything. ^_^'
Konome's food is oolala. And the cake is a goddamn lie!
choco curry hmm
When it's just for fun then it's okay I think, but when someone gets into the stage that he feels that he really has a romantic snack or dinner with her beloved girl then it's really too much.
Great finds, Danny! But the pictures make me want to laugh and be sad at the same time..
lol, i guess nothing beats a girl of your liking. Having dinner with someone you like is just sweet~ But those picturea do send a sense of loneliness to us, single otakus. xD
I will not eat in front of an anime pic, that's so terrible
Man so many girlfriends so little time! LOL, that is by far the funniest post I have seen. No worries there is always a chance to nab a cosplay girlfriend at the WCS. ^.^
Looks more like worship..>w<''
now that u mention it. it kinda looks like some character shrine worship
Oh my... ...no comment.
That has to be the saddest string of self-refuting "evidence" I have seen. LOL
If that myth is true, well looks like loneliness gets you crazy. ehehe
I just keep it to me about being a otaku. I'm sure no one will understand in our place, the hobby of ours. D:
Oh, good golly! To answer the question, uh, I am an anime/manga/game fan. I wouldn't call myself obsessive though.
Ressurected post FTW!!! :P I'm otaku, but don't have pride or shame for it. I just am. :D
Some how this makes me even more lonely. lol. Also, that is some very well prepared food. At least in presentation. If they can't get a real 3D girl they might be able to get a nice job as a chef. Assuming its not store bought.
epic successes
I think I'm a "western" Power Nerd, I love 2D girls, but still prefer real ones. Well, better if Japanese ;) And I like western '80 RPG more than JRPG.
>.> This so feels like a gallery of pictures of the imminent future of all otaku. LOL I'm a proud Otaku but not such a 'power' otaku as our dear 2chart'ers lol!
Whoa and I thought I was lonely XD;
lol, that's a lotta photos 2d's great and all, but 3d takes the cake
I don't like eating around my computer. I'm afraid I'll spill something there. Oh, and the girl is a lie.
you finally think that you are becoming an otaku and then you find that, that bar has been raised once again i feel very sorry for these guys
It says a lot about that level of otaku that a lot of those girls are children.
My female heart has just broken inside... ;_;
I don't think us Otakus will be 'so ronery' for much longer. Otakuism is massively increasing in popularity in North America and is getting quite a bit of public awareness lately--mostly the more mainstream stuff like Naruto and DBZ so far, but Tekkonkinkreet and Paprika also got quite a bit of attention up here in Canada.
xD Oh my God I love anime, but not be offering food to a monitor with a picture of my favorite xD is ridiculous, poor boys that reach that
oooh a collection of ronery images X_X
Ah, I remember this. Last year I wondered if I should laugh or cry after reading this. This year I have decided to laugh. A really bitter laugh.
HAHA!
I'm more of a hikamori :)
Hey I get to sleep with a very pretty girl (huggin pillow) every night . I also kiss a pretty girl (also known as my wallpaper) alot .
I feel a bit sad coz I can actually tell what eroge about half of those screenshots are from orz and I have them on my computer XD
I think i need huggin pillow >.>;
I guess your never lonely then! XD Are you pretending to feed her there? LOL I also saw a Jiburiru pillow too.
so ronery and christmas/new yr is around the corner ;__;
CAn't say I am one, long past since I've been "cured" being one as one guy that I met from japan said his friend became and otaku for one year in uni and they had to go "save" him. As they say its probably a bad thing over there compared to here.
um okay...this is kinda...extreme...
wahh!!!! i want all those images high quality !!!!! ^^ cool images ^^ and some nice futons ^^ >.<
i feel kinda sad for the guys that took these pictures >.< not too sure what's the obsession level is all about with the 2d girls in japan. personally i like em, but not in this way, haha. thank god i still have 3d girls in my life to wine, dine and uhm... yea... ^^;
chocolate curry?! o.O wow, I wonder how it will taste... ^^; Seems that they love to eat in front of their pc ^^; i wonder if any of the food drops inside the keyboard? as for my case, I always eat while watching anime or japanese dorama too on TV XD
The way it's described seems interesting but in actual fact it really looks kind of depressing. Dinning with 2D girls when you're living alone.
so with u on that one. guess i'm just not too hardcore of an otaku after seeing this...
Ronery post is ronery... ... ...I wanna eat with Miyako ;_;
I'd cook for Saber any day.
DON'T CARE
I mean I am proud of being an otaku and all but this is just sad....My Otaku brothers have to get out and try harder, this is just not right, humanity will end like this.
It's a little hard to dine with an anime girl(since she does not communicate with you), you will need lots of imagination to do that.
I'm sorry, I could never do this, this crosses that line dividing mainstream otaku from basement dwelling pasty skin otaku.
I am an otaku, but I wouldn't advertise it in public. That would leave a bad taste in my mouth. As for dining with my waifu, I would love to do it, but I don't want to serve her the junk food that I usually eat. She'll make me sleep on the floor.
Staying true to the original connotations of otaku in the Japanese realm, I don't consider myself to be one. I just like anime, manga, eroge and 2D characters, but I won't go overboard like this. It just seems really really sad. I will make passing remarks about my favourite characters' birthdays, but that's the extent of it.
Oh, and I hope that person knows that Jun is a trap.
This is the funniest post I've ever read on your site. Tearing up right now. ^_^ I'm 100% Otaku and pretty much everyone knows it. I only own 4 dakimakuras, think you might have me beat.
I suppose that was amusing. Though i wonder is this just something a few people did and posted pics of online, thus creating the urge for others to repeat it. Or do people do stuff like this without taking the pictures and actually sit down and eat like that??? If it is the latter that is really quite strange. And as long as these people are happy with what their doing i see no problem with it. Yet i have to wonder....
i noticed that there are very few widescreens
That's sad, a tad unnerving too =O
Id prefer a real girl :P because tey eat teh yummy cake up and who knows what happens next ;)
yeah 2d is best.
my thats veryyy sad to seee fellow otakus like that.
