I'm sure you've seen idols printed on dakimakura but the problem with owning one is the space it takes up - difficult to hide from GF or parents. So what have they come up with to remedy the situation?

Introducing the Air Idol. For a laughable 4,980 yen (45 USD), this inflatable version of idol Hitomi Aizawa can be yours to keep you company on those cold lonely nights.
Parents knocking on the door? Just deflate her and stick her in the small box that she comes in. Parents asking what that deflating noise is? Just tell them that you had some spicy food last night.
Below: Hitomi comes in a box that easily fits in your jacket pocket so that you can take her to work or school with you.
Below: The detail page available at the official site. A good way to carpool too? Does the carpooling signs in your region say "more than two live humans" ?
Below: Hitomi in "the flesh." If you cant be bothered with the inflatable doll version then just print this out instead.
Below: More Air Idols available to choose from. I would still prefer a dakimakura though - of a 2D character ^^;

Would choose Hitomi Aizawa in flesh ^^; The Air versions are laughable.

gives new meaning to "feeling bloated". I'd prefer a dakimakura as well. I wonder though, where's the hole to blow her?

Ah, I'm so disappointed. When I saw the first picture I imagined that what she held in her hand (Yes, the shell) was this invention. I was "Wow~!! How could they miniaturize this?!", but then I scrolled down and was completely disappointed by this "revolutionary product".

What to say? Only idols' fanatics and balloons lovers will find this interesting.

Personally, they should have designed their product a bit better. This "Air Idol" couldn't hug you back (Who loves to hug inflatable plastic anyway?). I'd choose dakimakura instead, as even if you don't care about the picture, it makes a pillow at worst. ^^

They wanted to do some 3D effect... Hence the horrible toes. Might be different in "blown-up" version.

Maybe they should do some 3D idol dakimakura (a pillow with the shape of the idol). NOW that would be revolutionary (and excessively expensive too... Wait, current products are not cheap anyway).

Uh, DRAGUN, I don't think you'd buy that kind of accessory to play "pimp" with. Unless you'd have some strange sense of humor (Well, I wouldn't judge but the idol upon hearing that would surely freeze, freak out and maybe blow you to smithereens. (Still I admit this product doesn't have any uniform color of skin. Somewhat creepy)
As for my avatar, I guess I want to be a ninja sometimes and not to have biased comments (It's the comment that counts most, right?). ;)

Paddyspoint, don't speak of the devil, some would secretly implant valves for... gah! what am I saying! Push "Rewind" button so you forget what I didn't really wanted to say!! *secret laugh*

lostandfound, I hope this idea will get to R&D departments of some otaku products makers. And if there were some form of reward, I'd accept them with a smile (Dream on D_Blade, dream on).
