Was very surprised to hear this. Even though the 360 recently beat the PS3 in sales, the PS3 has recently beat Wii sales in Japan (source.)

Looks like Sony's new pricing structure for their new PS3 models are contributing to their win but it also could be because PS3s are being %i%bundled or promoted along with http://www.dannychoo.com/fauna_detail/eng/651/Adult+PS3/,adult DVDs%i%?

I hardly touch my Wii and sold Zelda after about 2 plays. My wife plays brain games on it though which I join in on. Am looking forward to No More Heroes though.

The PS3 is where I currently spend most of my time on - nearing the end of Ninja Gaiden.

How is the Wii doing in your region - does not include the Wii clone in China. No More Heroes trailer below.

I like my wii and 360 more but I really wish they could have make the wii high def even if it still only pushed the same amount of polygons and it does now just in 1080…

Shin Segoku Musou 5 + price cut tends to have that effect.

The 360 beat the PS3 with a combination of Ace Combat 6 + price cut.

It all comes down to how well the PS3 does this week and see if it wasn't a fluke.

P.S. Get Super Mario Galaxy if Zelda isn't your thing.

people probadly bought the ps3 due to the lower price set by sony and for the blu ray driver, so maybe that they could watch blu ray movies with their ps3 in the near future.

I was expecting something like that sooner or later.
Even if the PS3 was always about "future games coming" repeated several times... they are now finally being released.

And if they deliver at least half what they promised to be, Nintendo could be in serious trouble (on console at least... DS is kinda unbeatable).

This is why I didn't buy a Wii. I almost did when it released... but with the good PC games titles coming out, I decided to wait some more.

And now, I'm thinking maybe it's worth saving even a full year more just to buy the PS3.

Wii desperately needs more 3rd party support, making creative and trully innovative good use of the new control scheme, forget about ports, and center on games made specifically to Wii but not only by Nintendo.

I'm a Nintendo fanboy, and quite frankly, getting tired of Nintendo's titles and style.

You know, kinda like reading 10 books from the same author... some of then will just sound repetitive, can't avoid that.

Of course all major game developers have this on some degree... you can see it as repetitive, or as "style".

But what I mean is: While on the Wii I can only expect to play Mario, Zelda, Metroid and some other titles that are great, but very much the same from previous installments, on the PS3 you can get a bunch of different styles... ranging from Assassin's Creed, to the cute (not yet release) Little Big Planet... and the new stuff on Eye Toy 2.

It's a larger variety of styles. This helps a lot from retiring your console quickly. At least for my gaming style... on the PC for instance, I'm always trying different stuff... AAA titles, indie games, fps, rts, mmorpgs, etc.

I mean, for those who still likes or prefers Nintendo style only, the Wii is great. Specially for party games.

But just not for me anymore. I think I would have great fun playing Pangya 2 with friends, but that's about it. Most other titles.. like Mario Party... if it's anything like the GameCube versions, it's fun but gets old too fast.

I also have nothing against cutesy characters, childish like graphics, cartoony stuff... and I don't really care for people who thinks games have to have realistic graphics or it's for kids.

But I gotta admit that cartoony characters are easier to get boring over time.

Same thing for animes, at least for me. I have to watch an ocasional movie or series with real actors... or at least watch an anime that has a completely different mood/ art style from the rest.

Sony has finally made its comeback in Japan, good for them. Here in the states I believe the Wii is still beating the PS3, but with the new PS3's coupled with the holiday season coming up will show who truly dominates 2007. The Wii is pretty much sold out where I live and the PS3 is abundant.

i own a Wii and me and my brother loves playing on the Wii ^___^

i think the price cut is not the only factor that took pass the Wii in sales but also the release of Dynasty Warriors 5 and the bundled Dual Shock controller ^^. it is somewhat similar to what happened to the PSP when FF7: Crisis Core was released and the PSP got past the DS in terms of sales ^___^

i would love to have a PS3 but i think today is not the time not to mention i'm financially challenged as of the moment lolz XDDD

i think i read it here where nintendo wants some quality games for the wii since most are add ons to the motion sensing..while the ps3 has a harder setup for developers.. hopefully people will realize that the ps3 is now almost the same price as the 360.. with a blueray player... while the 360 still costs 150 bucks more for the hd drive.. and can't be used for games like the ps3.. sogive it a year for games to move past dvds then microsoft will have to build something else to compete with the ps3 ... so i thnk the ps3 is generation 7.5.. it's waiting for others to catch up..while it places its big foot in the door:D he he

It's probably because everyone already owns a Wii.

Personally I've got a 360 and I'm content with that. Especially since Playstation has lost a lot of their exclusive titles. Devil May Cry 4 is coming to the 360 and that was one of the only reasons I even considered getting a PS3.

I suppose if Metal Gear is any good I may eventually pick up a PS3. And Final Fantasy 13 will most likely be worth owning. But that's still a ways away .

I don't know... Unlike Japan, where otaku culture brings fun-tasitc stuff, here in America, in my opinion, the games sold for the PS3 are realyl lame.. Like currently, there aren't any games I WANT to play for the PS3. But my thing is, I want a Japanese wii and a PS3 so I can play Japanese games, so yea, expensive...

I still prefer the wii anytime though

I have a PS3 myself, and it will probably be the only next gen system I will have for a long time. If I had any extra cash, I would buy a Wii.

For what I want and the kind of games I enjoy, the PS3 is great for me. They do need to pick it up a bit in America though. Assassins Creed is nice though!

I might be one of the few guys Sony expecting to buy PS3 out of loyalty since I will, but it will probably still a long time till I buy that (mid next year perhaps) since I'm still happy with my PS2 and the japanese game on my PC...

The Wii changed everything and pushed together with the DS the videogames-market here in Germany. I own a Wii and even my parents played it and had fun. A PS3 with the current games they never will touch. Between, nobody had been saying "no, I don't want to play this", yet. The PS3 is great and has some great features like singstar and guitarhero and really fantastic graphics, but for a birthdayparty or just sitting around with friends who are not gamers, the Wii is better. It is also cheaper and doesn't need a big hardware setup like lcd/plasma. Next year I'll probably buy a PS3 because I like ninjas :-)

Wii has a strong lead over PS3 here in userbase. I doubt even the holiday season and price change will alter that. Currently playing Mario Galaxy on my Wii, and playing Ratchet & Clank on PS3. Switch between the 2 whenever the mood strikes me, but I have been spending alot of time on Mario Galaxy. 60% done its a must play.

I've been seeing people here buying the 40gig PS3s at Best Buy when I go in to play Guitar Heroes 3. Been addicted to that game ever since my gf introduced me to it at her workplace. Danny, since you read english, you should import Uncharted: Drake's Fortune if it's not already out in Japan. I just picked that up today as well as Mass Effect. Both are truly awesome games to have. Mass Effect is kinda "slow" but the atmosphere is great. I think it'll get GOTY this year over Uncharted though, since Mass does have a cult following from fans of KOTOR and it is also BIOWARE. BIOWARE in caps. Uncharted also didn't have much of a media hype as Mass Effect had. But definitely, do pick these up if you guys own a 360 and PS3.

I also heard 360 only beat PS3 in sales in Japan for one week because of Ace Combat 6. True or False?

The Wii is sold out here in the UK, you can't buy one for love nor money. All of the high street shops and the online retailers are completely out of stock. I know people that have resorted to getting their Wii imported from Germany in order to get one in time for Christmas...until Amazon put a stop to that a few days ago. Personally I love my Wii because it really does get everyone playing, from my elderly relatives (sorry mum!) to my non-games playing friends who can relate to the motion control far easier than they can to traditional game controls.

Should be getting a wii from HK very soon but it is the last of the 3 which I purchased and, to be frank, the one I look forward to the least.

As many ppl have stated, it does seem geared for quick play with many ppl, while I prefer longer, more immersive games. Still, I live in hope that Nights: journey into dreams will be awesome!!

Also, much like how the 360 was only able to outsell the PS3 for 1 week (and with only 200 or so more sales compared to the few thousand thePS3 racked up) The rankings will stay the same, although I suspect that the numbers will be closer than before.

just to let you know, Gamecube out sold the ps2 a couple of times in japan, but we know what happened in the end.

Also the difference in japan doesn't makeup for the difference in America where the wii is selling in more than a 4-1 ratio compared to the ps3.

Wii was cool, but it got old. It still has good potential, but not many developers are taking proper advantage of it, and the current lineup of games is largely mediocre, so the Wii market is stagnating.

Hopefully Nintendo pulls a trump card out of their back pocket soon, because the Wii is far too casual to get much play-time.

The PS3, on the other hand, is far too hardcore. it does everything...and nobody really needs it to. Blu-ray playback is nice, but less than 5% of PS3 owners actually HAVE a proper HDTV to take advantage of it. So all it really does is make it more expensive for the remaining 95%. >.>

I'd agree with CyruzDraxs, the Wii has too much casual content that if it will continue this way I'm sure it'll get pretty old pretty fast. I'm still giving the PS3 some more time to grow it's library since it still doesn't have that many games compared to the X360. The same thing happened when the PS2 came out. Most of the blockbuster games came out almost 2 years after it was released.

PS3 and Wii are not really doing so well here in the country as they're not officially released around here unlike the X360. But I think there are more PS3 owners here than Wii though.

The is not doing so well over really, both XBOX 360 and Nintendo Wii have more sales, but i don't really see why?

I've got a PS3 and HDTV, I think it's amazing and on games like Ninja Gaiden Sigma is looks way better than both XBOX 360 and Wii but maybe i'm being baised since I don't like XBOX really and i would only get that for Gears Of War and i would'nt get a Wii cause it's just like a a better eyetoy to me but if nintendo don't do something soon it will end up like the dreamcast and you all know what happened to that right.

The PS3 will gain more sales next year when more games like Tekken 6, GTA4 and MGS4 come out, but I think sony made the right move by decresing sales, oh and by the way th 60gb PS3 is being discountined in the UK so if you want a PS3 wait till the 80gb comes out and don't get the 40gb it's crap.

Hahah..

Here in Indonesia, neither of PS3, Wii or X360 win the war.

Most still prefer (read: forced to) play PS2, because not too many people have the money to purchase an HD ready television, not to mention that the prices for those new generation consoles are too high for the majority.

The lack of availability of pirated version of the softwares is also very discouraging, unlike PS2, where pirated games are available in just any shop, and hell, the cops ain't gonna do anything about it.
