The sky is so clear, makes me feel like going to Japan just to go to the river...
Is that a Torii (鳥居) in the first picture? Kinda looks like one, only not painted in vermilion. Love pictures 11541.jpg and 11546.jpg , 11548.jpg. Any chance of them being in the wallpaper pool? ^^; Are the girls sitting above a pool of water in 11546.jpg?
A friend and myself are in serious planning on a trip to Japan in 2009; we are giving ourselves times to save up. Keep up the references Danny! We plan to hit all of Tokyo in two weeks =).
On photo number 11556, is that like a little swimming area or something?
ot a bit but is anyone else having difficulties with the Figure.fm RSS feed? @Danny: Are going to open up applications for Moderators on FigFM?
The sky looks nice and clear now, reminds me of how it is over here. Can't wait to visit Japan again^^.
Sumida River is one of the best places to visit for Hanami (cherry blossom viewing). From Asakusa, you can go on a river cruise, and you can see a lot of the Tokyo bridges on the way to Odaiba. You can take that river boat that looks like a futuristic amphibian vehicle :)
Nice Boat... *Ahem* I love those Japanese neighborhoods. It looks so calm and beautiful.
Nice place, going on my to go list. Awesome pictures Danny
I think I read about one of the Gaijin-friendly apartments(Can't remember the site. I've lost all my bookmarks. Doh!) being near there..so I've been wondering what the area is like. Thanks, Danny!
Aw Danny, you make me long for living in Japan in every post like this... What I really loved in Japan, and specially in Tokyo is that you can find beauty in every corner. And not only one type of beauty... millions of it. It's like every station reserves something new, something different. Can't quite describe it, but I've never been in a city where you can find so many different cultural aspects organized and so well distributed in areas... Like visiting Ginza, Akiba, and then taking a train to a more calm and quiet neighborhood... all that in or around Tokyo. Kinda cheesy to say stuff like that, but it's almost like my japanese blood longs to get back there. Even though I've been only once in Japan on my whole life, being 4th generation already, and when I was already 25yrs old. There's just something really nostalgic about these scenarios...
I remember attending a 花火大会 ( fireworks display ) by the river. The fireworks were reflecting off the surface of the river and it was quite a fantastic experience.
Gotta go back there again lol. Btw Danny, do u know this program called Tensai Shimura Dobutsuen> Its about animals. I wanna see it live! LOL!
woah that is a place I would love to visit! Nice to see more and more articles like this one. Perfect to plan a trip ^^
thanks for the idea....I'll take a stroll there for sure...5 months of patience left.
Once again, your photo's show Japan in all its moeness Danny ^ ^. Looks so nice there, would love to visit Sumida River next time I go to Tokyo ^ ^ Shame I didn't know about it when I was in Tokyo a few months ago -_-
I really like the quaint little houses and alleys ^^
Nice pics. Gotta love those sunny, bright winter days. Is it generally sunny there in winter? I hate grey, rainy & windy winters. Gotta love the wide angle lens on your camera too - nice. The most ive seen of the sumida river is the bit by the 'turd' building in Asakusa, and we took a sumida river cruise in that funky space boat all the way down to odaiba. Looked great.
AndyH, Yep - a cold sunny morning is gorgeous in Tokyo. Air is crisp n clear. GHOST, I dont - sorry! blauereiter, We should go next year. XSportSeeker, More to come ^^ Ninja Mari, The Himiko ^^ iheartassassinmaids, Give me a wee bit more to fix it - sorry about that. Tom, I dont think so but guess that in the summer people will jump in. Windbell, Give me some time on that one ^^;
Oh damn Danny, when I see those pics I want to go to Tokyo immediately. Sumida river is definitely on my visit list!
Oh, that's what its called! Thanks!
Those are some lovely spots indeed. Would love to explore Tokyo some more as well. Love that red bridge.
Seen some of these locations many times when watching dramas. When I get to Tokyo I will have to visit a few. Thanks for the great photos Danny!
Looks very peaceful and relaxing, certainly worth a visit when I ever get to visit Tokyo. And it has a sand barge too LOL! XD
it is on my list now, looks very pretty :-)
Danny, you are making my vacation plans very expensive. I'm going to have to go for at least a year at this rate. *_*
Any chance in seeing some of these beautiful images uploaded to the wallpaper tool? And by 'some' I mean 'all' :3
I agree. These are excellent wallpaper pics!
I'd visit every nook and cranny in japan if given the opportunity. heheh! ^^
Awesome photography as per usual, Danny!
Just added two to the wallpaper pool.
This town...so serene. Hopefully i will be able to make a visit to this spot when i visit japan. I'm going next year, in '08.
Always solid pictures Danny.

I'll be staying at Kotoku Saga when I move to Tokyo in 2 weeks time, I believe sumida river is just nearby ^_^ will sure visit it!
