Just got back from a press conference held by Sanyo today for their new full HD Xacti. This is bad news...
The reason this is bad is because I just got my other Xacti recently and there is no way that I will get authorization from my wife to buy this most awesome DMX-HD1000.
This is the world smallest Full HD 1920x1080 video camera. The video quality is staggering.
Sorry about this blurry shot - taking pictures with one hand on an SLR is tough ^^;
Released at the same time are these HM-W300 digital wireless mic system units. The units are open price.
You can attach the DMX-HD1000 directly to an external hard drive to save and view movies.
Open price but Sanyo reckons that this will go for about 120,000 yen.
Interface is much easier to use than previous models.
Sanyo are keeping the lens large to let in more light.
Truly awesome - I need one!
液晶は大きくて奇麗。
The circle on the back of the camera glows neon blue and looks rather coolsome.
Get yourself along to Akihabara News to see more specs on this mean machine.

Looks very cool indeed, and so small for full HD! If I had the money I'd buy one, but I still got my Panasonic GS400 mini-DV 2 years ago... so a fully digital camera will have to wait a few years :)

Danny,
Although I just bought a Sony HandyCam, I am curious about Sanyo's Xacti. And since you own one and you're also a fellow Macintosh user, How well does the Xacti go with Mac's iMovie and Final Cut?

PS. thanks for the Haruhi Bunny Wallpaper! It's gracing my desktop now. ^_^

@__@ 120,000 yen only for something so small and powerful? thats cheap for 1080p vid cam.

"Support of SD and SDHC, HDMI output, Use the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 codec and can record up to 1h25 minutes in Full-HD quality with a 8GB SDHC Card… Our Xacti has a 10x optical Zoom."

now where do i get it?

these digi-cams look awesome, also as i am in the market for a digi cam that can do both great video & pictures for a decent price. oh the joys of living in japan (or just asia in general) where new technology can be bought for dirt cheap *Sigh*

DANNY! when you get into a high enough position in life - please campaign against the European V.A.T system & gross over pricing/price fixing.

its not our fault that Sony admits to charging us 40% more for a ps3 then they would for Non-Euro folks such as americans or canadians....life aint fair!

Dang! That looks really coolsome! Would love to get one of those! I haven't had any video camera since that giant 'handycam' age.. Should I get a macro lens or that? Hmm..

Btw, PS3 is ridiculously expensive here, too.. The last I saw was A$989..

So small! at least for HD one. Definitely will go well together with a huge DSLR camera to get even more coverage. Video for digicam even on VGA size is just barely good enough for youTube.

Danny, I believe you're a real consumer (unlike me). Going for envy and frustration at the sight of a new model is how companies in a capitalist world want us to react.
(I don't want to enter this conspiracy, though)

That is too bad for you, really, but it is nice to have a new, even if a tiny bit outdated model... That makes me think of computers, televisions and other disc players, that are obviously following the same pattern.

"Be happy with what you already have, because there could be worse" is one of my mottoes.
As long as it works, it is fine.
:)

That is one beautiful piece of gadgetry right there. Awesomeness. And it cheap as well. Now if they can just introduce a water proof version. ^^

Got mine this weekend and I must confess that I am surprised in how good (and sexy!) this little gadget is. In the contrary that many should be thinking, the HD1000 is a serious camera delivering seriously good quality video. I have owned pro-consumer and professional cameras and believe when I say that the HD1000 is truly amazing - you can get my first impressions and a couple of very short sample movies in my website at www.bleepsblops.com
