Hey Lachy, I use ev1servers.net - I have a few dedicated boxes there ranging from $99 to $200 per month. The boxes are yours so you can pretty much configure Nix and Apache to your hearts content.

Yes phpwebhosting are in a cess pit of shit, the support is better on free hosting, and trying to contact them is like trying to contact god.
