Here are some mecha and "other" stuff from Chara Hobby 2007.
First up is Optimus Prime with a Gundam Zeta head - not sure why...
Optimus Prime bust.
Classic design StarScream.
Name that transformer and what does it transform into.
Bumblebee being dragged along in a diorama.
Gorgeous Evangelion model. Looking forward to the movie out soon.
Chibi Eva characters.
Votoms. Have not seen any of the Votoms shows at all so cant appreciate the designs. I never see people blogging about Votoms..
1/1 scale Scope Dog.
Another awesome Eva machine.
Love the colors.
Armored Core machine.
Name that thing.
Vifam. Never seen the anime but like the design of this mobile suit.
I think these are from Wings of Rean. They tried to cram too much info into the first EP and was totally confusing for me - dropped it.
Classic Prime.
Batou n green Uchikoma. Would love some more Ghost in the Shell.
Weathered keroro units. I never see people blogging about Keroro either.
Keroro unit variation.
Name that mecha - from Super Robot wars?
Me thinks Super Robot wars but could be wrong.
Name that mecha. Gah - its on the tip of my tongue. The name "midori" appears in my head.
Name that mecha.
FF mask.
Would make awesome cosplay.
GITS copters.
Tachikoma and Uchikoma.
Name that mecha.
This was among the Gundam kits. Hmmm. Got the urge to go play Gundam Musou ^^;
Name that Kamen Rider.
Name that Sentai/Kamen Rider ?
Name that Mecha. Looks like I need to do more mecha study ^^;
Looks like there is a new Kamen Rider film coming out.

I recently downloaded the original Votoms series and really loved it. I plan on buying the whole thing on DVD. I know the new series is coming out (or out already) but I can't find much about it. Maybe someone SHOULD blog about it. If you are a fan of classic mecha series like Gundam and Robotech, give Votoms a try.

Those four are indeed from Super Robot Wars. The first is Dygenguard (often romanized as Daizengar). It's got a big sword. The second is R-2 Powered (insert Star Wars joke here), a long-range artillery mech. The one after R-2 is the Wildraubtier, a transforming prototype mech.

Then there's the SRX. It's a neat combiner robot made from the R-1, R-2 Powered, and R-3 Powered. You can probably see some videos of it in action on Youtube or Nico or something.

Hi Danny! The white MS you mentioned being put among the Gundam kits is Bertigo from Gundam X, a Newtype MS which KO-ed Gundam X in the anime.

Anyway, how's the general acceptance of Michael Bay's Transformers in Japan? Since all the mecha were redesigned, and none of them look anyhow close to the first generation robots from Japan, I wonder if the Japanese fans are happy with that?

The purple starscream look alike is know as Skywarp and not star scream.

The Blue Kamen Rider is Kamen Rider G3 from the Kamen Rider Agito series

The black Kamen Rider is known as Alternative from the Kamen rider Ryuki Series.

Votoms is a very good series except for the end bit after a certain plot twist but I heard one of the OVAs fixes it.

If you're a fan of gritty, down to earth mechas and militaristic atmospheres this is the show for you.

Scopedogs look best when they're dirty and battleworn.

Look at this guy's works on them

That FF Mask is FF12 Ghabrant/Judge :P

Love that first transparent EVA figure. The detail on it is superb. After buying (and selling) many different EVA figures, im waiting til i can get one that is truly great - proportions, detail and poseability. That could be the one. Dont like the transparent-ness though.

Some cool mech pics there - nice to see stuff other than gundam.

very nice pics as always Danny, I actually seen Votom and while its a very old one, but it is very good. It has a very interesting story line that it seems its just about to end and no they throw another twist in there and story goes on. I enjoyed it, but was not able to see the end of it. It looks like The Anime Network dropped it from its onDemand section and haven't seen anymore of it since.

It's surprising to see so much of Armor Trooper Votoms recently. It was a show that I enjoyed a lot in the early '80.

I do recommend it, but be warned it's not an easy series to pick up. Votom's history is like that of Gundams, one needs to know the characters and they history or they will become quickly bored. Right from the beginning though, Votoms is filled with the same level of intrigue and mystery that is seen in GITS. It's best to start from the beginning or a quick primer would be the "Red Shoulder" OVAs. Red Shoulder is a bit of pre-story/ side story to the series.

Good guess on the Wings of Rean mecha, but they're actually from the precursor anime Aura Battler Dunbine: http://www.mahq.net/mecha/dunbine/dunbine.htm

I'm not sure exactly how the two series are related(have yet to Rean), but I get the impression that it's supposed to be closer to the original Wings of Rean novel which both series, as well as Garzey's Wing, are based on.

As distinctive as the Rean and Dunbine mecha are, there's a little bit of irony that the original WoR novel didn't involve mecha at all, they were added to the story at the request of toy companies Clover and Bandai.

What Eva Movie is everyone talking about? Someone please fill me in. Just a warning to anyone looking to buy the Armored Core series, its highly detailed, but very fragile. The plastic is a lot easier to flex and break than on your standard Bandai Sprews, like on the Gundams. The fit is also a little off, so there will need to be a lot of putty work to make it look real clean. Just so you know!

Hi Danny! Been a viewer of the site for a few months now, first time poster.

The first two images of Optimus Prime/Convoy with the Gundam head was an early stage mock-up done by a TakaraTomy/Hasbro designer to get a basic idea of what the Movie Optimus was going to possibly be like design-wise. (It might be surprising they used a Gundam head, but a year or so back at one of the Botcons, they showed a slide featuring the SDF-1 from Macross as a scale reference...so apparently it's common behind-the-scenes to play with other series, too!)

Nice to meet everybody!

SRW Mecha starts with Dygenguar, R-2 Powered, Wildrauptier which is the basis for the R-1 design and the last is SRX which is a combination of R-1, R-2 Powered, R-3 Powered and eventually, R-Gun Powered which transforms into the HTB Cannon.

Oh my god. I love the Armored Core ACs, but their color schemes were somewhat painful on the eyes. Too much bright colors and contrast!

The Daizengar and the R3 really won me over, though. As if they weren't already that awesome in game, the level of detail present in them just made stop and pause for a moment, just to admire them. Even the Wild Raptor and the SRW - heck, especially the SRX.

Hopefully they come out with an Aussenseiter model to accompany the Daizengar!
