Hehe I remember seeing this last month. Some of those guys got REALLY good jobs, would be scarey to meet them at a party.... What was even funnier... i was watching it with someone who did not know japanese and often commented about the cute 'girls'. When they showed the photo of them as a guy i told him that it was a show on 'hot' girls with pretty below average guys.. Ahh I had so much fun :)
D_Blade, the Japanese "invented" the term because in their quest to show their superiority to the rest of the world they can't admit they are just following a generic human pattern/behaviour. Yes there are transgender everywhere, but for the japanese, it must be special, therefore, it need a new word to show that they are different and not some rehashed version of the good old tranny... Anyway don't worry in japanese words are born and dies at a frightening speed making their language some kind of perpetual expandable nonsense.

"expendable nonsense" *laughs* well, I prefer being in a living culture with a crazy sense of expression than in one that would be eternally entrenched in traditional values (especially if there are notions of injustice, corruption and stubbornness in the latter). @farrroarz: Well, the definition of transgender people goes as follows: Individuals who feel they have been trapped in the body of the wrong gender. Hence the surgery process and all. I was quite afraid of them a while ago but I've learned to accept them in time. Understanding, tolerance/acceptance and awareness are essential in those matters.
